I see the vision with the Penny design, and I even tried that myself once on an early draft of this which I unfortunately no longer have.

The problem is that all the eeveelution color schemes clash in about 50 different unappealing ways (not to mention there's too many of them for one design) when you mash them all together.

So my solution was to keep her design muted color wise (I was even able to sneak in the colors of the ones that evolve through friendship) and save the bright colors for her mask.

That May redesign rocks though!

If anyone wants to search for anything and not get AI videos, add before:2024 (or however far back you want to go) to your YouTube search. It will only show results from before 2024.

The same works in reverse if you don't want to see old results. I know there's a ton more search syntax stuff that works on both Google and YouTube, the problem is I don't know what they are...

Adding to this. A word to any youtubers reading this. Never under any circumstances bake the captions into the video, especially if you censor/change any words. Because then you're not doing it for accessability, you're doing it because it's what everyone else is doing and it's an eyesore on the video.

What if someone were to, hypothetically speaking of course, burn in captions because they're a graphic design nerd who just likes picking the font and timing for their captions?

That's more on the artsy side which is more than fine by me.

(my main issue is with people who use the default premire auto captioning preset where they just send it and don't even screen it)

Youtube does actually support font and colors in the captions as proof by this video which uses it as a Kareoke track (obviously you need to turn on CC to see it)

This video was really what opened my eyes to this kind of thing.

Video games kinda suck at designing female heroes

In 2002, the photographer Howard Schatz published a photo collection called "Athlete" featuring pictures of, well, various top athletes from every sport and genre. These are some of the women he photographed, and the thing I want you to do in your head is compare the variety of humans that you're seeing here to the variety of humans you see in the cast list of your favourite video games.

These women are all in peak human condition for their fields - if you wanted to design a character who is tough and strong, these are the kinds of bodies you should look to for reference on what that looks like. You tell me how many video games or comics or movies or anime create their characters with even this limited variety in shape and size.

Of course, realism is not the end-all and be-all, fantasy characters don't need to be realistic, but if you are given the chance to make a character look like literally anything and justify it by "magic," and the only thing you do is reproduce the same 3 or 4 generically hot women over and over again, you are doing character design very poorly, in my opinion.

Gonna start posting these little mini showcases of features as I add things to the game.

If each region is gonna have a different genre of horror, an idea is that Unova has Mascot Horror (bc…I think most mascot horror games are in America I think? Idk I could be wrong), while Alola has Cosmic, Eldritch and Lovecraftian Horror.

Kanto is your Classic Horror, aka the original horror entities

Aloloa is pure lovecraft cosmic horror stuff.

I also love the idea of Kanto being like a classic universal monster type deal (heck the color palette of the games works with the theming too)

As for Unova, maybe something along the lines of internet horror stories and creepypastas/scps?

I expanded out my Ghosts of Paldea AU into a more general horror AU with each region focusing on different types of horror. Paldea is ghosts and hauntings, and Kalos is folklore monsters and legends.

Jacinthe is a fairy empress(not queen, her ego is far too big to settle on just queen) She has immense reality warping abilities, however she can't use them unless she strikes an agreement with someone. She's good enough with her words and charismatic enough that she usually twists any deal to benefit her.

She's also Nemona's mother in this AU. The two did not get along when Nemona was alive.

This gave me an idea, what if april fools on YT was reverse ads, like the video you want to watch is presented as a pre-roll ad for the video which has been replaced by an ad.

I don't know how the logistics for this would work or if it's even financially feasible (I know this is Google we're talking about here but still it might be too much even for them) but it's still a fun idea.
