There's something really powerful about the way Kyle's story represents trauma recovery. You can't get back the time you lost while you were "stuck," but you can still have a shot at a better future, and I think that's such a beautiful refutation of how trauma tells you that since you've lost so much in the past, your life is over and therefore there's no point in continuing to endure it
