When I try to think of pairing him up pitchways, it never goes anywhere because I hardly know where to start! Gamrezi happened in canon, but it was toxic beyond belief, and ended in a doomed timeline, yikes. I personally can't see GamDave (once again, in a healthy manner) because what could they possibly admire in one another and what would they argue about that wasn't just Dave shattering Gamzees with drawling mind with insensitive material?

Putting Gamzee in a pitch relationship seems to inherently imbalance it? When Terezi is weeping over how she and Gamzee got together, she mentions "TEREZI: 4ND H3 W4S SO MUCH N4ST13R TH4N H3 3V3R US3D TO B3! W4Y MOR3 TH4N 4NY OF OUR FR13NDS 3V3R W3R3 TEREZI: ON3 T1M3 H3 ST4RT3D MOCK1NG MY BL1NDN3SS TEREZI: WH1CH N3V3R BOTH3R3D M3 WH3N 4NYON3 3LS3 D1D 1T TEREZI: BUT SOM3HOW, TH3 STUFF H3 S41D...TEREZI: 1 L3T 1T G3T UND3R MY SK1N" My interpretation is that Gamzees status as a Bard Of Rage inspired uncharacteristic hatred in Terezi, essentially putting fake fuel into their kismesisitude.

When Terezi and Gamzee separate, Terezi stops being under the effect of Gamzees classpecting powers, allowing her to come to her senses about him, but then when they meet up again, Terezi starts feeling Rage towards him, clouding her sensible Mind and pulls her back again.

I formed 3 questions, if Gamzee realize his influence, whether or not his attraction to Terezi is real, and both of these equating to "is there actual character motivation or is this just Gamzee being written as evil and messed up?"

Looking at Gamzees conversation with Rose in the 3rd Openbound, he doesn't say much as to why he's with Terezi, only explaining their kismesisitude on her end and calling their relationship "the dark miracle called hatebliss.". Nothing he says points or hints at him knowingly doing anything to her, which could point to him being oblivious, or just Gamzee typical unreadability, I'm personally choosing the interpretation that he's oblivious.

During the [S] Act 6 Act 6 Intermission 5, we see Gamzee advancing on Terezi, visible Spades in his eyes, this immediately snuffs the idea that his end of their relationship was fake, we also see Terezi being visibly uncomfortable with it as well, pushing the Bard Influence Theory.

So, that means that there was genuine characterization happening there, rather than more Evil And Messed Up Gamzee writing.

Back to my opinion of "Putting Gamzee in a pitch relationship seems to inherently imbalance it?" His Bardly influence plays a part in it, he also seems more physically adept than the rest of our cast? (No I'm not going to use Equius as proof, that was on Equius choosing to die.)

I mean, take the Terezi beat down, sure she didn't fight back, but did you see how he was moving? He bashed her face in, back flipped her into a suplex before flipping AGAIN, on the top of her head might I add, into an INSANELY TALL flip, into the ATOMIC DOUBLE JUGGALO BACKBREAKER!!! Not to mention him swinging her over his head a few times after!

He took to bow kind like a duck to water, he snapped Nepetas arm with just his raw grip strength, he's a demon!

can you maybe make some nitram <> pyrope stuffs.

That’s not rude! I appreciate you asking nicely. I’m not sure how to answer why I ship Dirk/Jane, other than the fact that I think it’s a cute and fun dynamic! I love their interactions, and I like the idea of them bonding over their mutual Jake English heartbreak. I used to try to ship it exclusively pale, in order to avoid the gay erasure thing. I even tried to justify it by headcanoning Jane as nonbinary. Though I still have that headcanon for her, I realized that trying to give myself permission to ship something is ridiculous.

As for why I don’t consider it gay erasure, I have several reasons…

1. Gay erasure would be saying, “I do not recognize Dirk’s sexuality”, or trying to make excuses. On the other hand, saying “I understand Dirk is gay in canon but I like the idea of Dirk and Jane being in a romantic relationship” is perfectly reasonable and respectful. After all, I like humanstuck aus a lot. But that doesn’t mean I believe the trolls are human in canon. I can differenciate between canon and non-canon, basically.

2. Andrew Hussie goes to great lengths to widen our perspective of sexuality in homestuck. He never labels the characters. Dirk doesn’t like being called gay. Dave is implied bi but never says the actual word.

Even with Kanaya, Hussie says “from a human perspective, Kanaya is a lesbian”. He doesn’t say that Kanaya IS a lesbian, only that we humans would percieve her that way. Plus Kanaya is also shown as having the desire to auspistize guys (Tavros, Karkat, Dave.) Again, Hussie states that humans would SEE pale and ashen romance as “platonic”, but they’re really not. So in our limited human view of relationships, ashen relationships are platonic, therefore Kanaya’s canonical ashen crushes are not romantic, and that makes her a lesbian.

In Openbound, Kankri has a long-winded speech about sexual orientations. He mentions terms like “pale aromantic” and “panquadrant”, among a bunch of others. Many of these labels are mouthfuls. I think Hussie wrote this in to poke fun at how many sexual orientation labels we have… I for one tend to identify as demisexual biromantic.

As far as I can tell, Hussie isn’t saying these sexualities are invalid, only that sexual and romantic orientation is far too complex and varied to pin down with labels.

In other words, Hussie is saying, ‘yes, Kanaya is a lesbian, but lesbian as a term isn’t really useful in encompassing a wide range of personal experiences and feelings.“

Orr… maybe I’m projecting on Hussie a bit.

3. As an extention of the previous point, sexuality is fluid and often bleeds beyond its borders. I’ve known irl out gay men who have dated women. Plus trans people exist! There are so many people who date people before they transition, and stay with them afterwards. For example, a cis woman dating a trans woman may still identify as heterosexual. But her love for her partner transcends her sexuality.

The bottom line is that gender is an illusion, so to some extent, sexuality is an illusion, too!

Sexual orientation is more like a guideline than a cut and dry rule. Sexualities can have exceptions. So Dirk can continue to be gay, even if he happens to fall in love with a girl. (Though, again, he doesn’t feel comfortable identifying as such.)

4. If you’re still not convinced, think of aromantics and asexuals! Someone who does not experience sexual attraction can still choose to have sex with someone else. Someone who does not experience romantic attraction can still choose to enter into a romantic relationship!

This is because love is more than just attraction. Sometimes love defies sexual/romantic orientation.
