As Art Fight comes to and end...
An influx of users rushing to get in their last attacks may cause the site to slow or even crash. Please plan to get your attacks in earlier than the very last minute so you don't get caught up in this!
Not to sound stupid about how do you make art fight card?
Here are the official card so you don't have to go look for them! :) You can always send a message if you need any help settin up!
I've been kinda curious lately and am also wondering how many people are active in polls on the art fight tags so...
What kind of character is your FAVORITE to attack?
Human/humanoid
Anthro/furry
Feral/animal
Simple-shaped
Mech/robot
Monster
Other (tell us what!)
as art fight approaches i will state what i always state
remember u cannot CANNOT post canon characters in your attacks
so if you REALLY want someone to draw ur cute oc smooching ur blorbo man...it needs to be edited in some way that the canon character isn't visible (or maybe even do it as a lil bonus outside of the attack)
(i dont remember if this extends to if you completely change what the character looks like/their au design character rule)
and then chuck the full image at them in some other way (perhaps in a dm or other social media)
the full rule also includes logos (you may redraw the logo but no official logos) and mascots

I'm trying to set up my Art Fight right now. Looks like I made an account way back.
idk what i'm doing
how do i add characters?
How are people making those cool team fossil and team crystal sheets??
is it possible to change ones username??ß
i dont remember how to change your username, but it is possible. But i do know how to add a character!
go up to the menu on the right! Click on "characters" under the "manage" section".
click "submit new character" and then fill in the fields! Something that they added last year (?) that i really like is the cropping tool for the thumbnail! This means that you dont have to go through the effort of making a separate thumbnail, you can just plug in hte same photo that you used for the reference and then crop it down to where you want. tho people do make yearly borders to go around them for personal use or for everybody, which are fun! pros to making your own thumbnail and importing it separately. me? im lazy.
in permissions you can say stuff like "only draw my character in this outfit!" or "gender-bends are okay!" stuff like that. no gore or nsfw or whatever you want.
"Global permissions" are ones that appear on all your characters, and then you can add character-specific ones here. Like I allow nsfw for most characters in my global permissions, but then write that it's not allowed in this section on the few that I don't.
you can edit those in the settings section on your profile page:
and i found a template for the teams! thank you cougarcoves. im sure there's more out there, this is one of the fun parts of prep.

Here are the cards for anyone still looking:
You can find them on the site through Help > Art Assets and then scroll to "2025 Fossils vs Crystals"
direct link: (https://artfight.net/info/art-assets)
Username Changes are in Settings > Security > Change Username

must not use words that go against our Filter Guidelines
All users are given 1 free username change when they sign up, and will receive an additional free change once a year on January 1st. If you contribute $2+, you can receive additional username changes which will be credited to your account once your donation is processed.
Your account can hold up to 12 username changes at a time, and your username can only be changed once every 30 days.
Minor changes such as capitalization, 1-2 letter changes, etc... can be changed for free by contacting anyone listed on the Contact Us page."
Can someone give me a quick explanation as to what art fight is? I know the basic idea, but some things I don’t get;
What is friendly fire/revenge?
What do the teams mean?
Do you have to draw something for everyone that draws for you? (I be having unmedicated ADHD and struggle to motivate myself to draw)
Is there a minimum number of characters you need? And how detailed do the references have to be? (I have some art of certain OCs but next to know official references for them.)
How is the website formatted?
Most importantly — am I too late to make an account (like is there verification I need to do that I’m too late for)?
Any other info that is important.
1. Friendly fire is when you attack people on the same team as you. Friendly fire gives less points for your team. But it doesn't matter if you're on ArtFifght only to have fun, not caring whether your team wins or not.
Revange is when someone already made an attack on you so you reply to that with your own art. You just need to tag the person and choose the option that your art is a revange.
2. You just pick one of the two Teams. By drawing and posting attacks/revanges/friendly fire, you gain points for the Team you picked. It's basically just a friendly competition.
3. No, you don't have to draw for everyone. You can choose who you want to revange and nothing will happen if you don't reply to someone's attack.
4. There's no minimum number of characters you need. Some people have only one character and that's fine. I actually saw people who didn't have characters at all and they were only on ArtFight to attack.
I don't think there are any requirements for references. Nothing will happen if your references aren't super detailed. I had situations where I drew for people who had really rough sketches for references and it worked somehow. I think the only risk with having rough/messy references is that some people may not want to revange if they can't read the reference that well. But normal arts of your characters are totally fine! You do not need any official and detailed references.
5. I'll skip this one, because I'm not sure what it means and I'm not that good when it comes to website stuff aa-
6. Nah, I'm pretty sure you can join any time. I saw people making accounts and joining the ArtFight in the middle of the event. You're good! Although I would recommend to log in and prepare your account before it starts, because the website is ALWAYS extremely laggy in the first days of ArtFight.
If there's anything else you're confused about, don't be afraid to ask! I remember how lost I felt before my first Art Fight. It certainly can feel complicated and overwhelming at first, but the most important thing to remember is that Art Fight is supposed to be fun!
5. Your profile description is BBCode! You can add any images/gifs in there as long as the image is hosted elsewhere. You can also mess with the text size, color, font, etc. A lot of people decorate their profile with blinkies and stamps like in earlier internet days.
If you pay 25$ you can use CSS and have even more options!
Ways to choose an Art Fight team
Random associations (fossils remind me of pokemon, crystals remind me of Steven Universe, etc.)
Team colors
The same as your friends :)
The opposite of your friends >:)
Be a TRAITOR and change halfway through
Which team you think will win :D
Which team you think will lose D:
Randomly get sorted!!
How did you choose your team?
Art Fight really need to make like..... a 'following' page? Whats the point of following these people if I CAN'T FIND THEM AGAIN AFTER? Unless I'm MISSING SOMETHING??? *just adds everyone to my bookmarks augh*
There is one! A lot of people don't know because it's in a really silly place. You can see your followers and following lists in settings :)

Vintage Image Resources
Hello. I have created this account to share some liked images for those of you who are interested in decorating your page (on art fight in particular) with vintage themes.
have fun.
@artfight
Hi I had a question about something and I figured this was the best way to reach the Artfight staff. So I went to the Artfight website because I’ve been booking marking a lot of characters recently and just checking for updates and pretty recently I went on there and it seemed fine, but then the website glitched out and said I was rate limited and denied access to the website. I was just wondering what this means and if there’s anyway I could get unbanned. Thank you.
Edit: I saw it said I was temporarily banned. I hope y’all are just doing website fixes and it’s nothing serious :3.
@artfight
This happened to me to. The website was fine until I clicked my user to submit a character. Did I do something wrong or is it fixable?
Hiya! Don't worry your account isn't banned, this just means the site is down! It'll probably go down a lot as the event starts up and a lot of people are using the website.
GUYS HOW DOES ART FIGHT WORK DO I JUST CHOOSE SOME RANDOM PERSON??? HELP
Yup! But there's different ways people find characters they want to attack! Here are some:
Browse recent characters
Tag Search
Target hunting channel on the discord
Art fight tag on social media
Some people make a "hitlist" on Google forms to allow people to ask to be attacked by them, so they don't have to hunt for characters themselves.
And you can change your pfp through settings!
Hope this helps :)
Art fight tips and reminders!
Before attacking go over site rules, attack and filter guides, character permissions. Nothing like a refresh after a year or longer without participating in the event. You don't want to accidently break the rules too.
Attack ocs with no attacks! It would make someone's day!
Update your ocs profile, art/refs and permissions if you need to!
If someone makes art for you, thank them. It's proper etiquette and it would make them feel appreciated.
DO NOT make art or start sketching until the time of the event! It's cheating and a bannable offense!
DO NOT abuse the polish option. Use it as many times as you want but DON'T point farm.
Save as many refs as you can of an oc you're going to attack. You can never have too many!
PLEASE respect someone's wishes. If they don't want their character drawn in a way, don't do it.
State what characters you want drawn the most! I added a heart on my ocs profile to indicate that. Or add it to characters permissions too!
If you want, add an image/icon to ocs profile that indicate they take place in the same universe.
If unsure what to draw for someone or have questions about the oc you are drawing (ex: Don't want to violate someone's permissions), ask the owner.
If the oc has a toyhouse/character hub link, click it! You might find extra refs you need or key info.
If someone does violate your ocs permissions don't hesitate to report it. Same goes for harmful material. Let's keep art fight safe or everyone this year and years to come.
This is totally optional! Donate to the site if you want. No one is obligated to. The site runs on donations to keep it up and running and to pay moderators. You also get cool perks too.
You don't have to revenge someone if you don't want to. You and no one else to obligated to make art for you. So don't beg anyone for art. That is not what art fight is about.
Keep mass attacks small. You don't want to stress. Depending on how detailed the characters are, keep it under 7 or less. For my first art fight I did 12 characters!
All attacks made for this year MUST be submitted for the year. If you made an attack for this year but didn't finish in time, you CANNOT submit if for next year. Same goes for chains. However, you can give it off as gift art to a user. The site encourages this.
Advertise your ocs or art fight profile. I've seen people make hit lists forms. This increases your chances of getting attacked.
If you want someone to make/draw different outfits for ocs, make mood boards for them (i use pinterest) and link it to the profile.
Remember! Taking part in artfight is optional! It's all stress free and fun! Make as many attacks as you want. Just remember to take a break so you don't burn yourself out!
Hope this helps. Stay creative!
The Realest Art Fight Advice I Can Give
(Coming from someone very ADHD coded and on their 4th year)
Download your fav character pages as PDFs before July 1st so you can draw them while the site is down
Instead of just drawing "when I feel like drawing," set aside a specific time or amount of time each day to do your drawing in. This is how I get most of my procrastinated artwork done!
MAKE ROOM FOR BREAKS! Please do not draw for over an hour straight without a break! Set timers, get water, STRETCH THOSE WRISTS! Give yourself room to breathe and get some dopamine between drawing sessions.
If you do revenge but get easily overwhelmed, alternate between drawing revenge art and drawing non-revenge art. Best of both worlds!
Your biggest enemies during Art Fight are perfectionism and burnout. Not every art piece needs to be a perfect fullbody rendered masterpiece! No pressure!
On the same note, not every character needs a fully updated, elaborate ref sheet and a full bio! You'd be surprised at what artists can do with one old unshaded fullbody drawing and a few words.
You don't need to draw a background to get background points! Just drawing a character with a prop will get you the second-to-highest background score automatically.
If you want to breathe more life into your 2D art, draw the eyes on a separate layer and turn it into a simple blinking gif. Artists eat these up like hot cakes (we LOVE animated icons!) and they get you even more points than static art.
For extra fun when commenting on your defenses, save or draw memes ahead of time to code into your comments.
At the end of the month, submit all your leftover WIPs. You can't use them next year, so you might as well use them when you can! If you want to finish them, you can do so after Art Fight and just send them to the artists on other platforms.

Ways to say "Thank you!" for the socially awkward
Emojis! You don't have to be good at words to choose a few emojis to send! Here's some good ones: 😍😲🙌👏❤️💕😭🥺🥰
Keyboard smash! Are you too excited to form a proper response? That's okay just smash your keyboard a bit to show it!
"Thank you!"
"I love it!"
Pick a specific detail to compliment! Something you actually like, and give them kudos for it! "I love your shading!" "Wow your posing is so expressive!" "Your line art is perfect!"
AND FINALLY mix and choose some of the above! Make a response you think fits how excited you are!
But remember at the end of the day, you don't have to have the perfect response. This isn't being graded. Just try to say something so they know you appreciate them. Have a good Art Fight!
