Really random question but do any other autistics dislike good morning/night texts? I have a friend who I text daily which is super cool (although I’m not used to a friendship that has consistent communication like this). Every night she texts “goodnight” and it’s starting to grate on me. I respond the same thing every time and she responds to that with the same thing every time. I feel like I should like the consistency but I don’t.
I don’t know if I hate the expectation to respond? I know in particular this friend overthinks things, so I feel like I have to respond so she doesn’t look too deeply into it and assume I’m upset with her, but I hate having to respond every time. It’s a ritual I wish I could stop, but idk how to make her not overthink it.
Anyways, I just wanna know if I’m alone in this or if other autistic people find this sort of thing frustrating.

Chronic pain sometimes manifests in wishing to be cracked like a glowstick.
