Danny's romantic crush towards part-time ghost hunter Valerie Gray blossoms, despite her sincere hatred of all things ghostly. Everything seems to be going okay... until it goes wrong. Danny cannot control the seemingly limitless power flourishing inside him. In fact, he finds that he doesn't want to control it. Why shouldn't he crave the power to protect those he loves? Why should he, the Ghost King, be constrained by puny human standards? Why does he need a human side at all? This violent and insuppressible being is dangerously near to hurting the people closest to him...
