Dreamwalking

~WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD~

WHAT WAS THAT ENDING?!!!

it took me the fuck out. The series starts as a political drama which very quickly diverts into YA fantasy. From an heir in hiding to becoming a dragonslayer I thought that would tie the knot. The people will see him defeat the dragon and in awe realize that he is the rightful ruler of the region. But after the fight(WHICH NOBODY SAW BECAUSE THERE WAS AND ECLIPSE AND THEY FOUGHT FOR THE FATE OF THE WORLD IN A SECLUDED BEACH)they were like "we have to leave before anyone sees us" 🤬(as soon as I heard that I justknew they were trying to get a second season of the show) and they left the sword just in time for his opponent to claim it. He didn't even have to say anything, the sword burned his hand when he tried to grab it but people saw him let go of the sword. Mind this is a boy who the show reminded us in every single one of his appearances that he desperately wants his mom to respect him. In the last scene the MC as his companions look back as the here the people chanting "... the dragonslayer!"

In the show we don't see any aspect of him doing anything really about his political enemies, he's focused on saving the world because it's his destiny because of his ancestor or whatever and I was thinking okay this will tie in to the matter of his that the people would see that oh he's actually the one who is destined to be the ruler plus he would be better at protecting himself from assassins now that he has magic.

But

I reject this ending.

I like the show, especially this art/animation style so here's what actually happenedin the end—

Everyone saw the dragon attack the village. It set fire to the gate. Then come some kids on magnificent horse that the dragon seems more interested in and they lead it away. The people seeing this decide to join the children to defend their village. They arrive just in time for identities and magic to be revealed and witness the MC defeat the dragon. MC and party hug their family as MC is hailed as dragonslayer by the people while the Lord(political enemy) looks on in frustration. End credits.

This ending actually leaves room for a season 2, which can be about the aftermath— does the MC go back in hiding, or having won over this village does the MC move on to the next(map expansion). Does the Lord try to use the MC? Everyone saw the epic battle with the dragon, and that's not a story they can cover up. Is the dragon carcass now a tourist attraction? Was it sold off part by part? Was it been bought/stolen by dark forces or future enemies?
