When Jean finds Kevin, he is sitting in his usual spot on the edge of Purgatory. From afar only the large wings are visible, so bright they overpower everything else, but as Jean gets closer he’s able to make out the rest of him.
As soon as he’s within hearing distance, close enough that he can see the tousled black hair on Kevin’s head, Kevin speaks.
“He’s a bad influence.” He nods towards the human world below. “Spending too much time with someone like that is going to corrupt him.”
Jean peers over the top of Kevin’s feathery wing, and it only takes him a moment to find the cause of Kevin’s grave tone. Below them is Neil, standing on a rooftop next to the short, blonde man he had started to spend an increasing amount of time with.
They’ve already had numerous fights about the man, and Jean only shrugs at the sight. Using his red tail, he nudges playfully at Kevin’s side.
“What?” Kevin hisses and swats it away. But it still works, because at least it earns Jean his attention, making him turn around with a less than amused look. Jean answers it with a grin, the wide and wicked kind that displays each of his razor sharp teeth.
“I just think it’s funny you’re the one accusing him of keeping a corrupting company.”
Kevin’s bright green eyes narrow at the comment, and he turns away with a scoff.
“We don’t get to choose our partners,” he says with a finality that suggests he considerd the conversation to be over. Only, Jean isn’t ready to stop playing yet. He moves closer, getting on his knees behind Kevin and snaking his arms around his chest. He nestles perfectly between the soft, heavy wings, and puts his mouth on Kevin’s neck.
“Mmh, i know,” Jean purrs when he feels the goosebumps against his lips. “If we did I would’ve chosen someone more fun.”
It earns him a groan, and Jean takes some of the soft skin between his teeth, giving it a playful bite. Kevin twitches in surprise, his back arching ever so slightly into Jean’s chest.
“I’m being serious.” Despite Kevin’s stern tone, he makes no effort to move away, even as Jean’s fingers start playing with the buttons of his shirt.
“I know, love,” Jean mumbles into his neck, losing himself in the scent of flowers, sunshine and the sea. “You’re always serious, that’s why you have me.”
