Teagan: ever the optimist little sister. Love how you think that we’re actually going to get anything. Teagan: hey, i never said it was. Now, now, let’s not be hasty. 

Teagan: waste of time. i’m poor. Teagan: might be. I’m admitting to nothing.    

“Pshhh no, just give me a couple minutes and I’ll be good to go. Honest. What’s next?” Lucy craned her neck and leaned up to glance at her blonde friend as she tried to make herself sound chirpy and positive. “Okay maybe a little longer.” She groaned dropping back to the floor. “But hey, I’m still alive” The grin could almost be heard in her voice as she stared up at the sky, still full of excitement over her having powers. 

Faye watched as her friend moved. She wasn’t entirely certain whether Lucy was being serious or not, since she didn’t know the extent of her power... But the next comment clued her in. A light chuckle left her lips and she shook her head. “Probably shouldn’t overdo it.” The blonde said. “I think that’s what I’m supposed to tell you, anyway.” She joked, winking at her. “I think you’re one of very few who could survive that fall without serious lasting damage -- and definitely the only one who could do so twice.” 

Lucy groaned as she pushed herself up as if to get on all fours before collapsing back to the floor unable to hold her body weight. She could her body working to repair the damage it had caused, almost like a tingling sensation that ran along her skin. Seeing that she needed a little more recovery time, the blonde slowly rolled over onto her back so she could look up at her friend. “It sure didn’t feel great.” She let out another groan as she closed her eyes in pain. “It felt like I fell from a building and landed face first. Oh, that could be because I did.” Lucy peaked one eye open and gave a faint teasing grin. “Yeah it’s just a little slow. Looks like the more severe the longer it takes. I could feel my bones break. Now I can feel them, i don’t know, fusing together?”

An amused smile pulled on the corners of Faye’s lips -- though that wasn’t to say she wasn’t also concerned. She’d become very aware that there wasn’t all that much to be concerned about now, but it still didn’t look all that good -- broken bones and bruising. “That makes sense.” Faye shrugged, before sitting down on the floor next to her. “I guess we’ll be here for a while then. Better get comfortable.” She joked with her friend. “Awh man -- that’s disgustingly cool.” 

“I don’t know, I’m sure someone would. What about your friend Lucy? She seems like a sweet kind of person?” Matt couldn’t help but laugh at the blonde as he finally handed over the sweets, partly because he feared the repercussions of what would happen if he didn’t. “Interesting isn’t the word I would use. Though I suppose I wouldn’t know what I would do with all that free time I would have.” He chose not to respond to her comment about it being excitement, knowing that they would just continue to go round in circles. “I get that Faye, but you also didn’t have to push yourself that far and put yourself at risk.”

“No, nope. She would definitely not appreciate them.” Faye said, attempting to keep a straight face, but a smile managed to break through regardless. “You’d have so much free time -- which would be really boring, by the way. And without me constantly brightening up your life, it would be so dull.” She offered him a wide and almost smug smile, meeting his gaze as she did so. Hearing the note of seriousness in his voice, her voice softened and came low. “I will be more careful next time.” Though whether she actually remained true to that was a different question. “I thought I could handle it.” But obviously she couldn’t. Just. Still, that only meant she needed to practice more.

“Alright, down girl.” Matt teased with a roll of his eyes, collapsing down onto the bed next to her. “I’m not ninety, I know what Netflix and chill means.” As he led there, he reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a packet of her favourite sweets. “How are you feeling?”

“I just thought you should know that a girl might think you have ulterior motives if you offer something like that.” Faye replied, her lips curling into a small smirk. “Are you sure? Because I think I see a few grey hairs...” She said as se moved closer to him, a hand reaching up towards his hair as if she was inspecting. She fell back with a light laugh when he changed the subject to ask how she was. “Great. There’s nothing quite as invigorating as a little danger.” She said, a smile playing on her lips knowing the kind of reaction she would receive from him.

Wading her way through the smoke, with three people following after her, she assured them that she knew which way she was going, though she was noticeably tired -- which wasn’t an incredibly common occurrence before 11:30pm. She pulled her phone out of her pocket when she saw the door ahead of her. At least, she thought it was the door that Matt had been talking about. I’m at the door. Stand back -- I’ll huff and puff and blow it down. Her lip curled if only slightly at her own joke. There’s four of us -- and we’ll be out before you can count to three. And after waiting a few moments, knowing that they couldn’t afford to wait all that much longer, the blonde took in a deep breath and gathered all the air inside the building. “When the door goes down -- run.” She told the others. The air was warm as it encircled her -- far warmer than she was used to. She supposed that fire really did a number on the air particles. It didn’t stay surrounding her for long, however, and she sent it down the fiery corridor in one swift gust, the flames almost merging with the cyclone of air as it tore through the already weakened door. The moment the light from outside shined into the corridor, she heard the sound of feet running down the corridor. But, as much as she wanted to follow, just one step forward proved to the blonde just how light-headed she was and how much she might have pushed herself just a little too far. Her legs gave way under her and the next thing she felt was the hard impact of the floor hitting her shoulder. 

Matt: You've not been in a situation like this before

Faye: You're helping now, Matty. And there is no use getting killed trying to help.

“She’s always out early, I’m sure she would have,” Owen replied though there was something in his tone that suggested he wasn’t convinced. “Thanks, Faye, I appreciate it.” He gave a small smile. “Any suggestions on what way to go?”

“Definitely.” Faye nodded, noting that Owen didn’t seem quite sure about that himself, but she wasn’t going to dampen that any further. “Well I just came from that way,” she pointed down one end of the corridor, “I wasn’t watching for anyone in particular, but I was making sure to check -- so I don’t think she would be back down there...”

Matt: I should be in there with you.

Matt: You know what, forget i asked. Whatever you'd like Faye, just make sure you get yourself out of there okay.

Faye: That it's smoky.

Faye: Don't be silly!

The male shrugged, sighing in frustration as he tried to remember. “I think she mentioned her last lesson was English but I have no idea if she would have already made it out of there and she’s not answering her phone,” Owen explained chewing on his lip. “Fuck.” 

“I hope she has made it out -- it’s been going on a while now.” Faye frowned, seeing the worried expression on Owen’s face not making her own worry and calmer. “I can help look.”
