As much as I would have loved to see Cooper carrying Lucy out bridal style, I’m really glad they didn’t.
1. Cuz they’re def not at that point in their relationship, this is the first selfless thing he has done for her so far and it would’ve felt cheap
2. Mainly because I liked that he helps her keep her dignity. I think it says a lot that he makes her walk out instead of carrying her (even tho my girl was struggling and you could definitely justify him carrying her). He recognizes that this experience is one that’s been horrific, humiliating, and objectifying, so he makes sure she walks out on her own feet even if it’s hard. He doesn’t say ‘told you so’ or mock her, he picks her up and sets her on her feet. This shows a level of respect and partnership forming. Cooper knows how important it is to walk out on your own, and truly being there for her is holding her up when she can’t stand on her own.
