He stands at the doorway, doubting she’ll ever hear. He waited. He waited all night for this, making sure that Natasha was asleep to admit that which he could not say to her face to face. And so he began, talking from the safety of distance between bed and doorway. Brian began, // “Red…yer asleep—“// he whispered, // “—and when ya wake up…I’m gonna leave. I’ll be working, Red. But uh…part of me’s been thinkin’ a lot and uh, well, ya know we’ve…been through a lot. But what are we ya know?”// he scratched his finger on the frame to ease the hint of anxiousness. Brian bit his lip. He continued, // “I don’t wanna label us but guess the sense of security in knowin’—ah fuck,”// he looked down at his boots. His voice caught in his throat. This was hard. His relationship prior was black and white. But Red? Red was…life. Tangible. Grey. The fuzzy nerves before something thrilling. She was Red.

// “Mrhm, the uh…security in knowin’ that ya won’t up and leave me fer good would be…it’d be nice ya know?”// He looked up at her sleeping form, hoping to go she wouldn’t wake up.

// “Heh, if I was still a cop I’d’ve asked ya to…ya know—“// Marry me. // “Things don’t work out the way we want ‘em too huh?...Hey, I love you. All right? Just wish, I could uh…say it more often, fuck if I know…I’ll see ya in a few hours Natasha…”//

Heavens above let her slumber for the whole of that. He smoothed over the doorframe with one hand, pursed his lips, and about faced for the exit.

The Avengers are a team of Witches and Wizards fighting against the Dark Lord Thanos.

Tony is the mad Wizarding inventor who is a genius with a wand. Bruce is a part-time healer, full-time shape-shifting werewolf. Clint and Natasha are Unspeakables. Thor is a Quidditch beater. And Auror Steve has one hell of a shield charm.

There was certainly a lot more blood on him than what he would care for, and not all of it his own. “Miss Romanoff… I would have preferred you not see me in… This state.” He needed a bath, wash the blood off his hands.

He moved his hand away from his side, palm bloodied from his still bleeding wound. “Rest assured I will be fine, Natasha. Barely a graze.” He assures, frowning down at his bloodied skin. He moves to stand, and struggles to hide the wince. Perhaps it was a little worse than he had expected.

Natasha frowned slightly as she got a look at it under his palm. “ A graze is still enough for blood,” the Russian frowned and she caught his elbow as he stood up. “ Let’s get you somewhere safe, I’ll get a closer look at the damage once I’m certain no one is going to come sneaking up on us,” She replaced his palm against the wound to hold pressure there and she began to lead him away to cover.

Natasha’s brow furrowed slightly as she looked down at him. She was a little bloodied herself, but chances were most of it didn’t belong to her. The long, slender blade in her hand was stained a pretty crimson, and small red beads dripped from it’s point, spattering the ground at her feet. “ I’d rather see you in this state than dead,” She grunted. The red head tucked the knife away and bent down to aid him. “ Let me see the damage done.”
