Skyrim DLC: Dawnguard - First Official Trailer
if you haven't seen the trailer yet here's a link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3PjBSicSVqI&feature=g-u-u
lets talk about the first obvious thing to be shown in the trailer gameplaywise. near the very beginning of the trailer actual game play footage of the player hovering around as a strange winged creature is shown. through the trailer it seems to have the ability to detect living things, absorb life force and possibly consume people while they're awake and alive. this is very different to the vampires who prey on sleeping targets and werewolves who feed on the dead. the dialogue in the trailer suggests that this creature "consumes the souls of the living, and the dead."
next is obvious new weapons and gear available. the trailer shows both factions involved in the conflict, each wearing new armor. a handful of new weapons are paraded in front of us one of which I'm rather excited to see in action: the crossbow.
next is the obvious new enemies, from the frightening gargoyle like creatures to the large ogre like beast with a club and not to mention the return of the biggest foe in Skyrim: the dragons, one of whom is seen diving into the water through a sheet of ice.
there is also a dark almost ghostly horse that could be a regular mount or as unlikely as it sounds, one of my favorite ideas that should be added: a summoned mount.
the last bit of the trailer is the overlay throughout, giving hints as to the possible plot. from what i see it is most likely a battle between these dark figures who consume souls and are working to either simply stop the Dawnguard or actually block out the sun. the Dawnguard however is trying to stop them. the plot is tied to the elder scrolls, returning the games namesake once again to the forefront since the criticism that they weren't very prominent in Oblivion was obviously taken as an invitation to include them in as much of the plot as possible.
the game is slotted to be released to Xbox live this summer for the cost of 1600 Microsoft points. no news yet as to the PlayStation release or price nor a specific date for release on the Xbox.
