A list of hints that the tale of IWTV... was not completely true
For a variety of reasons.
Over the last four years a lot of things have happened - and a lot of hints within the show have been found and analyzed.
As we get closer to TVL, these hints will become ever more important for the upcoming season.
So I figured I'd compile the most important ones.
____
First, there's ... hair. Sam's hair in IWTV is rather pointedly different, depending on whose POV we're on.
Discussed for example here:
to put all the cards on the table... (and now that we have that teaser... oooofff). i read the books, but i want to put my obsessive detail
And then there's the "broadcasting", which turned out to be a clue picked up in 2x08, back then we theorized it might be an expansion of the show lore. It being a hint though, meant that not all we saw was ... real:
Ok, I want to say one last thing to the "broadcasting" subject. This is what Sam said: There were a lot of micro-rewrites that were happenin
This interesting tidbit here is something that Sam has stated again, on this podcast (at ~59min +) that HE knew which scenes were real... and which were not.
"I mean I knew that I knew that there was a level that you know, I could just be less, you know, because because when you're playing kind of like the villain of your ex story, knowing that but also knowing that that they love them. You know, there's a deep love between Louis and Lestat. So it's very complex kind of but it allowed me to be very extreme. And also I knew I knew, and I know which scenes you know, and it's up to Rolin in the end of the day, and I know which ones he was thinking. But you know in season one what scenes are real and what they're not, what not you know and what and so there are some things we could do really extreme stuff."
This is also where he talks about the sexual subtext between Lestat and Gabrielle. (at ~57 min iirc)
Then there's the much discussed train scene, and the hints we got within the tale, that it ... at least could not have happened as told.
@resplendentgoldenwings mentioned you on a post āi tried to get some clearer snaps of these pages...ā: @nalyra-dreaming In what way though.
Then there's Jacob stated all the way back in 2023, that Louis portrayed Lestat as a monster, because he was angry with Lestat.
And then there's this PRE SEASON ONE industry panel, that we only have this crappy video of where Jacob and Sam discuss Louis lying - but not everything being a lie.
"Not everything Louis says is a lie!" I had forgotten about this part. Unfortunately I could only find this quality of the video, but it's
(video link in the post)
Then there's the comment by Sam that he has the "real trial script".
A propos trial script. The "reveal script" is of course full of hints as well
I took a few screenshots and put them through the editor, and there are a few interesting tidbits of information that can be gleaned from th
Sam also made sure to show Lestat swaying at the trial
and there were bruises on his wrists in some takes.
someone on reddit has noticed lestat has bruises on him.
Also, we have Assad confirming that Armand "tinkered" with Louis' mind, kept weaving his nets. (S2 BTS), and that Louis was a "vessel" for Armand
Collider interview at SDCC x bonus:
At this point, as always, the very good, so very much on point article by Lin Codega:
Armand's control over the narrative was on the fringe of AMC's series the whole timeāit just took all season for us to realize it.
we know Daniel has confirmed that he did not write whole passages of the book. Were those some we saw? If so - WHAT EXACTLY DID WE WATCH?
(First ep of Talamasca was released, and the pages screenshot has broken on Twitter, too! I talked about the handful of connections I notice
Last but definitely not least is the confirmation of the movie "Gaslight" poster by Jacob.
More about the posters here:
Hi! Love your blog! We know that made Lestat's abuse of Louis way more prominent in show (decision I still don't agree with but that's not t
Tl;dr:
There were a LOT of hints within the show and tale that things we were told were not actually true.
Not all of them! Of course not.
Some... Edited by Armand. Edited by the Talamasca. Louis lied or misremembered. Deliberately distorted, because he was still mad at Lestat.
Some of it... was just not true.
And Lestat is going to show us what.
Want some hints for what's coming in the back half of Season 1 of The Harbingers? š
Here are the episode titles for Episodes 9 through 16. (Presented in alphabetical order, not in episode order.)
The Harbingers returns in 40 days, on Valentine's Day.
Dennis who is secretly furious with the way Robby is treating him. Heās a very patient person, but heās still human (and heās learned from the best when to be bitchy). At first it was small. It made sense in a way that they had grown apart in the time between they had last seen each other, but Dennis missed having Robbyās hands guiding him throughout the day. Itās just a little disappointing, thatās all.
But as the day goes on, and Robby gets more wound up in whatever is going on in his head, and taking it out on the people around him, Dennis canāt help but be annoyed. He respects his attending (maybe a little more than respect, but he tries not to think too hard about that) but the way heās acting is downright unprofessional. Running away, brushing off questions, taking out his anger on the residents and med students- Dennis might have let it pass if it wasnāt for the Amy conversation.
He just wanted to explain himself. And besides, what did it matter that he liked to work on the game in his free time? It reminded him of the better parts of home. But Robby cuts him off each time he tries to make it a conversation rather than some jealous lecture. Dennis has had enough.
At some point he grabs the attending and drags him into the bathroom. āLook, I donāt know whatās going on with you, but whatever crisis youāre having? You need to work it out on your own before you get someone killed.ā And he leaves a very stunned Robby there to process his thoughts.
Robby canāt decide whether to yell at him or kiss him silly.
BoruSumi Hints and Easter eggs!!
As I promised before, and thanks to people who agreed with me, hereās the number of easter eggs/fun facts/hints of BoruSumi shown so far in every media!š„°š©·šāØāØ
(Sorry in advance if this looks imperfect, this took me soooo long to make, but it was so worth it lmao!!š Anyway, I might update this post if I found more details and easter eggs in the future, but for now, this is just what weāve known so far till now. So grab your popcorns, or take your nerd glasses, and enjoy reading!! :3 )
1. Birthday Hints
>>> Borutoās birthday (28th March) and Sumireās birthday (12th June) is just 2 and half months (77 days) apart from each other, almost as same as Naruto and Hinataās one (78 days).
Plus, in Japan, 12th June is also depicted as Loverās Day, which is pretty much the Valentines Day in Japan. And the month of June is also regarded as the brideās month, a lucky month for the brides to get married in. (Which also explains Borutoās wedding episode in SD where he āmarriesā Sumire, lol)
Additionally, Borutoās birth flowers have 2 kinds: 1. One is ābaby breathā, a flower named after a brideās veil and represents āhappinessā. 2. And the another is āDigitalisā, a flower that has purple as a representative colour. Sumireās birth flower is called āliliacā, a purple flower which represents both āfirst loveā and ābudding loveā. Sumireās first love is Boruto, and her love keeps developing as the time goes on.
>>> Continuing with birthday trend, the zodiac sign between them also hints their relationship too, with Boruto being Aries and Sumire being Gemini. This post here explains it well so please take a look.
š¬ 0Ā Ā š 1Ā Ā ā¤ļø 17
2. SD
>>> Talking about SD itself, 2 SD episodes, where Sumire gets the focus, themed around love moments towards BoruSumi, one is the Valentines Day where Sumire gifted Boruto her homemade chocolate,
and the another being wedding episode where Sumire dressed in wedding gown and Boruto carry her in a princess style in front of church. This episode is first released in June, which is of course a month of brides in Japan.
3. Anime
>>> A background OST was played in both BoruSumi moments: 1. one time when Boruto saved Sumire from the rock fall in Nue arc, 2. and the other time when Sumire finally enters Academy. Itās called āNukumoriā (ęø©ćć) a.k.a. Warmth (Affectionate) OST, which has the same melody as āNaruto and Hinataā OST from The Last, and of course composed by the same composer, Yasuhara Takanashi.
>>> An ending theme of Boruto NNG, Sayonara Moon Town, was first heard in episode 14, and the first version was only played in that episode, afterwards the next version is played in next episode. This version of ending, alongside the lyrics, strongly corresponds to Novel 3, titled āA Ninja who lights the Nightā.
>>> Although BoruSumi moment in Nue arc strongly pays homage to NaruHina moment in The Last movie, it also inspires a moment between Hachimaru and Ann from Samurai 8 manga, which was written by Masashi Kishimoto himself, and this happens after Nue arc.
>>> In the opening 8 of Boruto NNG, a blue flower was shown twice, one time in Borutoās training with Sasuke, and another one in Team 15 section. This blue flower is āNemophilaā in Japanese, which is called ābaby blue eyesā. Culturally it symbolizes forgiveness, and in Japan, it symbolizes as āsuccess everywhereā. It also symbolizes innocence, purity, serenity and unconditional love. Plus, a pink and purple flower is also shown alongside blue flower in Team 15 section too.
>>> Both Boruto and Sumire had a very same dream. At the beginning of Academy, they want to be a ninja because their friends are dreaming the same, without realizing their own dream. Over time, after their character developments, they finally found their dream. Borutoās dream is to become a ninja who supports the Hokage (like Sasuke), and Sumireās dream is to support the village with the help of science. Usually in every media, the boys and girls of the same age having the same dream means they can share and empathize with each other about their dreams and work together officially when their dreams come true.
>>> In one of Boruto NNG ending, a scene is shown where the friends (Shikadai, Sarada and Mitsuki) gives the strange expressions and pushes Boruto towards Sumire, with his head down. Sumire has an inexplicable expression here. (Maybe they knew about BoruSumi relationship already?? lol)
>>> Boruto and Sumire are the only characters who can summon Nue. The fact that Boruto can summon means he also can utilize Sumireās chakra too. (How it happens tho!? thatās gonna be a topic for another day <3 )
4. Games
>>> In an old official Boruto game (Naruto x Boruto: Ninja Voltage) 2 illustrations were featured during fall event, where in male section, Boruto catches a fish carp, whereas in female section, Sumire is holding that same fish carp. (Wonder if Boruto gave away that to Sumire lol) that fish carp is "Benigoi", an intense red coloured Japanese carp, which symbolizes "passionate love".
>>> Moving on to next game (Naruto Mobile online), when Sumire is being played and her ultimate move begins, a Gozu Tenno presentation appears with this quote: "From the very beginning, my life has only been about revenge.ā
However, while fighting with Boruto in battlefield, her ultimate moveās interaction continues, with another presentation, and with quote: āBecause of you, Boruto, I was able to change."
5. Kitsune/Tanuki folklore
>>> As I made this post before, but I'll say it again, Sumire is a daughter of Tanuki (raccoon) and Boruto is a son of Naruto (fox/kitsune) and in Japan, the fox and raccoon are the popular pairing, even in other medias too.
š¬ 0Ā Ā š 1Ā Ā ā¤ļø 11Ā Ā·Ā Hehe, funny how Boruto and Sumire are the offspring of "fox" (Kitsune) and "racoon" (Tanuki) respectively, and they're a p
6. Novels
>>> Novel 3 has so many heavy hints of BoruSumi, literally from both sides. (Which wasn't shown in anime ofc lol...) 1. Boruto has been depicted as a sun twice by Sumire: āHis smile is as bright as a sun in a winter sky that continues to shine with the same constancy.ā āHis eyes are like a sun that lit up the future. Those eyes told her she could choose to live.ā 2. ""Sumire was surprised to hear him sniff at the end of his sentence. Boruto, who was so imperturtable ordinary, has been shaken to the point of showing his tears to the public."" in hospital scene. 3. During her mission, Sumire deliberately acted more cold to Boruto when he came to her because she didn't want him to be hurt as much as possible. Sumire wanted Boruto to treat her only as the culprit of the Ghost incident, not as an class friend, and to resent her without guilt. 4. Boruto did not want to have an unnecessary adverse effect on Sumire, so he hid everything that happened in the space of Nue and Jougan to Naruto. 5. "Even before Sumire realized she had these feelings, it was already noticeable that there was something between the two of them. The feeling of "loss" that dominated them was increasingly clear proof that from there "a little bit of love" was born".
>>> In Sasuke shrine Novel, Boruto describes Lily's purple eye colour as pretty and "bright and clear like the last color of a rainbow" while watching an idol Lily's live show of song, "Violet Moon". The only person Boruto met so far with purple eyes is Sumire. (Like Lily, Sumire is the name of the flower, and her eyes are dark purple too.)
>>> Stated in many novels, both Boruto and Sumire prefer the junkies/greasy meal, with Borutoās favorite being hamburger, french fries and cola, and Sumireās favorite being fried bread crusts.
7. Manga
>>> In NNG, we had 2 chapters, 19 and 56, where Sumire was a cover of those chapters, and in both, Sumire expresses about her liking towards Boruto to the people. Plus, the subtitle of chapter 56, āBeautiful and Radiantā is written in Japanese as āKaren ni azayaka niā (åÆęć«é®®ććć«). āKarenā (åÆę) in Japanese context is used to describe as "something so beautiful you want to protect it". (And the nemophila flower also has āKarenā as a symbol too. Interesting lol)
>>> In chapter 73 of NNG, while reading in Japanese, when Boruto and Sumire reunite and interact, Konohamaru calls them out and tells "enough flirting". The word used by Konohamaru is described as "Ichatsuku" (ć¤ćć£ć¤ć) which is "to flirt/make out".
>>> In TBV, Boruto and Sumireās outfit design somehow resemble very close to Naruto and Hinataās high school dress in one of Naruto Shippudenās ending theme.
>>> Both Boruto and Sumire are now training under Kashin Koji and Amado, same person who defected Kara and betrayed Jigen/Isshiki. However, the student-teacher bonds relationship are complicated, different ideologies and goals while working in the same field and mutually using each other.
>>> Stated by Jura himself, Sasukeās sword represents Borutoās deep feeling/love he has for his master, and he entrusted that sword to Sumire for fixing it with the help of her research. Which also explains the subtitle of manga chapter 28 āembracing the feelings entrusted to meā (čØćććę³ćć ęćććć¦) where Sumire is the cover, sheās holding Borutoās feelings that has entrusted to her.
>>> Sumire upgrading Boruto's sword to add a safety feature so that no one, other than Boruto, Sumire and Sasuke, can hold it, has brought 2 easter eggs: 1. In Japan traditional samurai contexts, having your weapon taken by an opponent is straight-up humiliating, and becomes an even greater disgrace if the one who disarms them is considered weaker, as it symbolizes a total loss of control over your "soul" or personal dignity. So the safety feature is quite literally to make up those contexts. 2. This is the 2nd time both Boruto and Sumireās chakra are registered and shared in a same entity, first being Nue and now a sword.
(Ooooof!!! Done and dusted.... for now lol. Thank you all so much for reading it here patiently, I hope you all enjoyed itššāØ More posts incoming ahead in futureš)
