i think the way teachers view high schoolers is complete unrealistic and purely based on stereotypes. for the past week, my english teacher has been telling us about how no one reads nowadays and how my generation needs to start reading to fix our brains. you know the one thing he hasn't done? asked us how often we read. last year I read 100 books, which is definitely more than him, across many different genres. but has he asked? no. he just assumed that because we're teenagers and "obsessed with our phones" there's no way we could read for fun.
