Daughter said she saw something move on the railing but so many feral cats paid no mind. I saw him walk along the top and then go up the pool pole. Meet Jerry.
"Piglet" visits our bunny feeder every night. He chews with his mouth open and makes a mess of the day's leftover carrots, thus, "piglet".
For those that are wondering, that's a Heckler & Koch MP5 in 40 S&W made specifically to meet the requirements of the FBI which wanted a submachine gun with "better" specs than the 9mm. It was adopted for a short time before the GWOT pushed everyone on to the AR/M4 platform. Between the FBI dropping it and the AWB in effect at the time, H&K never offered it more widely, so originals are pretty rare.
This MP5 variant can easily be identified by the addition of the Bolt Hold Open device which locks the bolt open on an empty magazine, another FBI-required feature. The straight gray polymer magazine also gives it away as a 40 S&W.
Factory original, intact examples are very rare as they were never released in semi-auto as a model 94 variant (semi-auto civilian) although they are still seen in parts kit form. As a de-milled parts kit they are now selling for about $3500-4000, or a little less with non-German parts.
The fire control group that's pictured is a "Navy" four position variant with a three-round burst feature. That wasn't included on the FBI model so I assume this is either a clone built on a parts kit (most likely) or someone upgraded a factory model with the Navy lower. The original would have been a Safe-Fire-Full three position FCG.
That's not to denegrate the clone builds. I have this exact build in inventory as a full-auto dealer sample. I built the base gun from a parts kit about 12 years ago (as an SBR) and have one of our non-transferable full-auto trigger packs installed.

I finally was upgraded to high speed Internet, so I'm looking at streaming and possibly subscribing to a couple channels. Frindly seems good as does howdy and paramount+ shows strong possibilities and finally sling.
So what do y'all subscribe to? Any suggestions or pointers would be appreciated.
Please reblog for a wider response
Finally I'll tag a few @married-to-a-redhead, @theconstitutionisgayculture, @simplyasoutherngal1, @sweetreddelicious-59, @mrscalm54, @tcs53, @lost-in-the-funhouse1971, @rampantrhino, @john-wick-ll, @salt-n-tigers, @sassysouthernsexydiva and anyone else who has a suggestion.
For all of its evils I pretty much just have Amazon prime via a firestick. From there is yes the various free channels like tubi and Pluto. We occasionally will buy a month or something of paramount or hbo for a show or movie we want to see. But mostly just the prime monthly and the various shows that come with it
@countrybumpkin69-2 I agree, check out Tubi and PlutoTV. Both are 100% free and the ads are far less intrusive than the Samsung+ streaming service included with my TV's.
We have YouTubeTV but at $90+/month (total) I think it's way overpriced but my wife likes it so I grudgingly keep paying for it. The only advantage to it is you can record shows to play later--until they "expire" when they simply vanish--annoying.
We also have Amazon's Prime+ TV (paying extra to avoid the ads--most of them anyway) which is great for newer movies. But if you're looking for broadcast-type shows the two free services @salt-n-tigers and I mentioned are really great.
I'd try other free streaming services if anyone wants to chime in...
THE GEEK OPTIONS
I forgot to mention two other Geek-ier options, Plex and VLC Media Player. If you have a computer connected to your TV or watch TV on a computer or tablet, etc. these are two great options that allow you to choose from a much bigger pool of channels.
PLEX MEDIA SERVER
Plex is primarily a media organizing app that people (like me) use to catalog and stream their media collections. But Plex also offers a streaming service on the Smart TV, desktop, and phone apps that has a great deal to offer. It's ad-supported but there's a lot there...movies, TV, music, etc.
I only use Plex on my home media server to stream movies and music to my TV's and devices and haven't taken the plunge into their streaming service, but it gets good reviews elsewhere.
VLC MEDIA PLAYER
If you watch TV via a computer or conputer-connected TV, VLC Media Player is the Swiss army knife of media apps. It's extremely popular for playing videos but most people don't know it can stream IPTV channels as well. VLC allows access to a vast (and I mean HUGE) catalog of internet streaming channels. If a channel is being broadcast on the internet, it's probably available using VLC.
The disadvantage is there's no content guide per se--you have to dig and explore based on the streaming title or find a link from someone else.
Here's how to access the streaming channels on Windows (Mac or Linux may differ) using VLC:
1. Open (or install) VLC Player.
2. Click the Media menu at the top left.
3. Choose "Open Network Stream" and enter the following URL:
http://iptv-org.github.io/index.m3u
4. Click "Play" and wait for it to load. It'll take a minute.
5. When the URL loads, click "View" at the top and choose "Playlist".
By default the first channel will start playing (probably not in English--it's world-wide index of known streaming channels and alphabetical).
6. Choose View->Playlist to display the index of available channels.
7. Pick your channel from the list or use the Search box at the top right of the window, for example "livenow from fox", "shooting sports life", "inwonder", or "the boat show", etc. and select the channel you want to watch in the playlist.
It can be a little intimidating since the playlist isn't curated, it's a world wide index, and you kinda have to guess what a channel contains based on its title (or Google) but it's worth the effort I think. If you see a channel on your favorite streaming service app (Tubi, Plex, etc.) then it's probably in the index.
8. Once you decide on a channel by clicking on it the stream will load in a small preview window at the bottom left.
9. Click the preview once and the channel will stream full screen.
You can create your own playlist of favorites or save inividual channels as URL's.
Some channels are region locked and you'd need a VPN to get around that--too advanced for today but you can Google how to do it.

liberal women will take any chance to objectify themselves and reduce their value down to only their bodies and then wonder why no one takes them seriously.
Further evidence and affirmation of my theory that progressives can’t help but boil everything down to degenerate thinking. Sex, nudity, vulgarity, and perversion is all they have.
If I were a religious man I’d likely draw a correlation between lefty reprobates and satan’s tactics.
I think the contrast between how these two publications presented the same story is the real take away here.

Why you'd put a low end optic and rings on a high end rifle is beyond me. I see people all the time dropping thousands on a precision build only to cheap out on the optics and rings.
Maybe they plan to upgrade later, but in my experience, that rarely happens.
Good glass will get you on target faster and with better results, especially in less than ideal conditions. Worth the investment.

Prior to the latest update a couple of days ago (5/19/2026) I was able to screenshot Tumblr posts without being redirected to the "share" page. Now when taking a screenshot I have to dismiss the "share" dialog/page to get back to the original post I took a screenshot of.
There is already a "share" option. Changing expected behavior is not welcome and not an improvement.
This is either a bug or an unwelcome new "feature". Please either post the justification for changing the UI or fix the bug.
Good call because I was *really* trying to be civil. I definitely don't feel civil about Tumblr constantly screwing with the UI.
Reblogging to annoy staff because this "improvement" really sucks. Reblog if you agree and please use the tags. Maybe it'll get someone's attention because my support request did not get answered. Critical feedback never does. Like dealing with five year olds.
american pitching a national symbol: so imagine an animal that can be turned into a burger
sorry i thought this was a joke but looking through the notes nobody's said it so I'll say it: GO LOOK UP WHAT THE NATIONAL ANIMAL OF THE US IS. RIGHT NOW. "Oh I don't need to, I know what it is " NO. RIGHT NOW. LOOK IT UP.
I'll admit it, I learned something new today. And it made me happy! Google it, but don't spoil it for others.

I wonder if Marvin knew it was the anniversary of the Tiananmen Square Massacre when he climbed in his Komatsu that day.
On a serious note, it truly saddens me that Marvin's effort was all in vain.
I'll wager the people who pushed him to finally crack have themselves learned nothing. He may have gotten his (well earned) revenge, but what did he gain in the end?
Sad, no matter how I look at it.
US Special Ops Fields Caliber-Swapping MK24 Rifle For 7.62 Combat And 6.5 Range
via Zerozhedge
A new rifle heading to U.S. special operations forces can switch between 7.62mm NATO and 6.5mm Creedmoor ammunition in roughly a minute, giving operators a way to adapt to changing mission requirements without carrying separate weapon systems.
MK24 modular rifle (LMT Defense on Facebook)
The weapon, known as the MK24 Medium Range Gas Gun Assault (MRGG-A), will begin reaching units before the end of the fiscal year. U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM) selected the platform to replace the MK17 SCAR and awarded manufacturer LMT Defense a 10-year, $92 million contract last year. The rifle also supports SOCOM's broader effort to improve performance at longer ranges while maintaining flexibility in the field.
Built For Flexibility
The MK24's defining feature is its quick-change barrel system. Operators can swap between 7.62mm NATO and 6.5mm Creedmoor configurations in about a minute, allowing the weapon to adapt to different operational needs.
The requirement emerged from real-world deployment challenges. U.S. forces frequently operate alongside partner militaries that rely on different ammunition stocks. By allowing rapid caliber changes, the MK24 can continue using widely available 7.62mm rounds while giving operators access to 6.5mm Creedmoor when missions demand greater accuracy at distance.
LMT Defense designed the rifle around a 14.5-inch barrel, creating a package closer in size to an M4 carbine. Despite its compact footprint, the weapon aims to deliver the performance expected from larger precision-focused systems.
Why 6.5 Creedmoor
The adoption of 6.5mm Creedmoor reflects years of testing by SOCOM as it evaluated alternatives to legacy military cartridges. The command examined nearly two dozen ammunition types and reportedly found that 6.5mm Creedmoor delivered some of the strongest overall performance at ranges approaching 1,000 meters.
That advantage has attracted growing interest across the military. While 7.62mm NATO remains a mainstay of U.S. forces, newer cartridges have demonstrated improved long-range accuracy and energy retention. The Army has already started introducing its Next Generation Squad Weapons chambered in 6.8x51mm as part of a similar modernization effort.
For SOCOM, the shift is not simply about replacing ammunition. The command has spent several years searching for weapon systems that can engage targets farther away while reducing logistical burdens on deployed units.
Expanding Long-Range Capabilities
The MK24 is one piece of a wider small-arms modernization program. In recent years, SOCOM has explored new rifles and machine guns capable of extending engagement distances beyond those of existing platforms.
Those efforts resulted in contracts for a new 6.5mm sniper rifle from Geissele Automatics and a lightweight machine gun chambered in .338 Norma Magnum from Sig Sauer. Although fielding of the machine gun has been paused, the programs reflect SOCOM's interest in cartridges that offer greater effectiveness at extended ranges while reducing system weight.
Officials involved with the program have highlighted the MK24's accuracy and adaptability as major advantages. Beyond replacing the MK17 SCAR, the rifle introduces a modular approach that allows a single platform to fill multiple roles. As fielding begins, the weapon will give special operations units the ability to move between 7.62mm combat loads and 6.5mm long-range configurations with minimal disruption in the field.
--------------
The 6.5 Creedmore is a very capable round but I wonder how the barrels will hold up. I also hope they don't cripple the 6.5 with the 14.5" barrel LMT displayed at SHOT. That would place a severe limitation on an otherwise impressive cartridge.
I'll also be very interested to see what the AMU can wring out of the MK24 platform and whether it will be accepted into the U.S. Army Small Arms Championship matches at Fort Moore and the CMP matches at Camp Perry. That would change the 600/1000 yard game significantly. Surely the AMU won't be able to resist, LOL.
The switch barrel capability seems like a nice option but I think it has more to do with barrel service life and field repair than swapping calibers (a total guess on my part).
I'm fairly familiar with shooting the FN's. I have a SCAR-16 (a promo gift as part of an FN dealer package) that I have about 600-750 rounds through, and I have about 300 rounds through various customer owned SCAR-17's (training rounds--we rarely see the SCAR's in for repair).
I don't shoot the 16 any more as I don't find the SCAR's comfortable to shoulder and I've (apparently) concluded there's little advantage over the AR platform. More through neglect than conscious thought I've relegated the SCAR-16 to safe queen status. It just seems to get shuffled further and further back.
There's nothing wrong with the SCAR design. We can debate about gas systems all day, but I have piston-driven AR's that run at least as well as the FN's. The SCAR's are just...bulky? And I'm not a fan of the buttstock ergonomics.
Not a hater, just not for me.
SOCOM can have pretty much whatever they want and the fact that they've snubbed the 20S in favor of the AR platform tells me I'm not alone.
The good news longer term is that Lake City overruns of 6.5 Creedmore will drive down ammo costs (eventually--don't hold your breath any time soon) and I fully expect MK24 clones to flood the market as retail interest in anything tagged "SOCOM" drives demand.

Any part of the California coastline that isn't a mess?
Nope.
Nah, not true. Don't let the (well deserved) bias against California keep you from seeing some of the prettiest coastline anywhere in the world.
Between Carmel-by-the-Sea and Pismo Beach is your best bet. Avoid the metro areas and stick to the scenic routes. There's a photo op around every curve and you can make the leisurely drive in a day. I've never been to Europe so can only conpare from my armchair, but Carmel is the prettiest city I've ever visited. You could easily spend a whole day there.
And since you're that close, Yosemite and Sequoia National Parks are must-see destinations, another one day side trip.
I would never live there and find Califorina's politics revolting, but there's a reason the Beautiful People congregate there.
Holy crap, this poor guys shoulder hasn’t been the same since…
Or his nothe.
The dumbathe
Is that just from failing to hold it well, or is that some kind of crazy high energy round he's shooting? Like you see that sort of thing happen to the Kentucky Ballistics (iirc) guy when he shoots those enormous 1lb cannons, but I imagine this guy was fucking up.
I have to assume both large bore and poor form. I’ve shot some bigger stuff and didn’t hold it well and ended up with a sore shoulder but that thing slipped right through his fingers and into his “nothe”.
☝️☝️☝️
Yeouch. That left a mark.
@skulki-d, From the diameter of the barrel, and assuming it wasn't a varmiter, I agree with @salt-n-tigers, that's a very large caliber round. And I doubt it had a muzzle brake on it either.
More importantly though, he didn't have a good--or any--shoulder weld. You can see that from the butt of the rifle moving rearward long before his shoulder does.
He probably had a pretty good cut on his face from the bolt and I'll bet his trigger finger was banged up too.
Remarkably poor shooting technique and a hard-earned lesson. Some lessons cost more than others.
That'll also probably be the last large caliber rifle he ever shoots.
Caliber isn't everything though. I have a McMillan 50 BMG single shot bench rest rifle (also a bolt action) that I can shoot for about 15-20 rounds (two boxes) before it becomes a chore. Large caliber doesn't mean it's unshootable but it does mean position and technique count for everything.

Shit, next thing you know we'll need to present our ID when we want to get on a plane or if we get pulled over while driving.
If they start carding me at the liquor store or when I buy my cigarettes, I'm leaving the country.
This is worse than fascist spain!!!!!!
What’s next?!!! I’ll have to show my papers when I want to buy a new gun?!!!
Ridiculous!
Oatmonger works at a bank and the other day she was talking about how they are required to let illegal immigrants open a bank account even though their IDs are blatantly fake.
From 20 years ago or so now…..
B of A came under fire for offering CC’s to illegal aliens without SS numbers. I tried doing the same thing after seeing the story and they refused to sign me up though.
Better not to have an account with B of A anyway. My sister had an account with them years ago and they drained her entire savings and hit her with an overdraft on top of it because she didn't know they were charging interest on a savings account rather than paying it. A buddy of mine emptied his account and closed it because he was tired of all the fees. After the account was closed they hit it with a minimum balance fee. Since there wasn't any money in the account they hit him with an overdraft. Then they hit him with a third fee on top of that.
I went through hell trying to close my account with them. They would let me take all of my money and close the account without 10 days notice (I think it was 10, was a long time ago). They explained that I could have outstanding checks or card purchases so I had to leave a balance and make a notice of intent to close the account. So I took everything except $20 out, then they hit me with some $25 fee, charged me an OD fee of $28 and complained I was $33 overdrawn. I fought with them this way for maybe 3 months before finally being rid of the bastards. US Bank is no better. I ended up finding local community credit unions after that and will never do biz with a big bank ever again. Horrible horrible corporations the banks are.
☝️☝️☝️
These aren't isolated stories. They're buiness as usual for commercial banks. Here's my hard-won advice for changing banks the smart way.
Closing a Bank Account
BofA once refused to cash a $7.00 business check--presented in person and drawn on their branch--without charging me a TEN DOLLAR fee because I wasn't a customer. I spoke to the branch manager and when he refused to waive the fee, I tore up the check and dropped it at his feet. I never did business with BofA again and have refused checks drawn on their accounts ever since. That was over twenty years ago. Yes, I was pissed.
Don't Just Close Your Account
When you close an account the bank knows they've already lost you as a customer. There is very little incentive for them to make the process easy and every incentive to squeeze the last possible dollar out if you.
He Who Documenrs, Wins.
Bank accounts don't automatically close when you draw the balance to zero. You must explicitely notify the bank of your intent. Don't rely on an 800-number. Do so in writing, or at least follow up your phone call with a written, mailed letter.
For those who haven't had issues with outrageous bank fees, know that running the balance negative will cause the bank to eventually close the account in a delinquent status. They won't sue you, however...
The bank will report the debt to a banking-only credit reporting service called ChexSystems and when you try to open an account at another bank you will be turned away. Forever. The only way to clear the flag is to pay those fees. Better to avoid that altogether.
How to Close an Account the Smart Way
If you want to close an sccount, especially one you haven't held for over a year (avoiding "early account closure" fees), sit down with a branch officer and ask them the procedure for closing the account and avoiding any surprises. I've found branch employees helpful and sympathetic in most cases. Document the employee's name, what they said and did, and the date and time you met. He who documents, wins.
Switch to a Credit Union or Savings Bank
Credit Unions, and to a lesser degree Savings and Loan Associations, are usually much more consumer friendly with fewer fees and better loan terms. Credit unions are also much more open to membership than they used to be.
And when you run into a problem a local credit union is managed by a local executive team, not a faceless conglometate. It's much easier to contact a real person and get your issue resolved in your favor.
You can find a local credit union using Google or by searching NCUA or CUlookup.
Worth looking into.
That’s how it’s done.
Well, If you can't say anything nice...
I'll bet he wasn't missed either.
