I made a anatomy reference! Sorry of it’s sloppy it’s my first time….. Another part with muscular and chubby coming soon! The female version is coming soon too!
Some hand references.
Sources 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
Redid a post by fucktonofanatomyreferencesreborn with sources because they never source anything and I don’t want to reblog that post because I don’t want to support blogs who don’t give credit to people
(No, stating that the art is ~not yours~ and ~came from elsewhere~ IS NOT PROPER CREDIT. Many of these have usernames and such on them but not every single one and you still ought to link back to the specific piece)
I couldn’t source the last one so I didn’t include it.
Reblogging for great references and AMAZING commentary!!! I hate fucktonofanatomyreferences and all ‘reference’ blogs like it that never source :/ respect artists enough to give them credit even when the content is educational.
I will be hosting Manga classes in The Art & Hobby Shop in Blackpool, Cork, on June 2nd. The classes will demonstrate tutorials for creating your own characters and backgrounds, as well as tips on sketching, inking, colouring and exploring styles and themes so you can get started on making your first comic!
Classes are fee of charge, and are open to everyone aged 12-17. Classes start at 6.30PM until 7.30PM and will continue every Thursday for 8 weeks.
The Art & Hobby Shop also stock a variety of tools to help you on your way to creating manga - from ProMarkers, Derwent Inktense pencils and Faber-Castell PITT artists pens.
One week to go!!
My old tutorial! Wanna share it with you)

10 inspiring and helpful YouTube channels for digital artists
People are asking us how the art we share can be so good.
The answer this time isn’t so simple. An artist has his own way on shaping his style, he takes his time to experiment and so it becomes quite difficult for others to try learning his art style and making it their own. It’s even wrong.
But we can tell you that many artists learn by getting inspired by others’ art. Watching an artist while he paints can be motivating - and of course it can teach you a few technical tricks.
So, here there are ten YouTube channels you should check out.
1. FZD School of design
It’s a school founded by Feng Zhu, amazing concept artist with a lot of experience in video games, films and commercials. His videos are real episodes/lessons and they are very helpful. And, well, they even have a school in Singapore…
2. China digital painting
This channel doesn’t feature tutorials but shares full video processes by Chinese artist. In this period we are seeing many young artists inspired by an art style that’s typically Chinese - it features dramatic lighting and mood. Though such a technique can be found in other artists like Bouguereau and Rembrandt.
3. Ctrl + Paint
A channel dedicated to the digital painting in Photoshop. Very helpful for those beginners who want to learn how to use this software and how to get better with art in general.
4. Level Up!
One of the most known groups of digital art of Facebook can be found on YouTube as well. The founders are Wojtek Fus and Darek Zabrocki. Each session (episode) features a different digital artist. This is great because you can compare the different painting processes. The main theme of this channel is concept art and fantasy/sci-fi illustrations.
5. JJ canvas
This is the channel of Jorge Jacinto. He uploads speedpaintings, but they are very inspiring if you want to look at how a wonderful surreal landscape can be created in twenty minutes - in time-lapse of course.
6. Webang111
Another channel with time-lapse videos. Very inspiring if you are into colorful and cartoony illustrations.
7. Ross Draws
His art is wonderful and his videos are super funny! Check out his channel if you want to see how a fantasy illustration can be created from a simple idea - I mean, he starts with two rough lines to close the video with a breathtaking illustration. Crazy.
8. The Portrait Art
Okay, we know. This channel is not about digital art. But it’s amazing art anyway and if you are into realistic portraits, you can get inspired by watching these videos.
9. Cubebrush
Another channel with time-lapse videos, but a few are commented. The videos are about 2D and 3D paintings.
10. Noah Bradley
This artist is a master in the concept field and he doesn’t only talk about his digital method but about his career as well, giving lots of hints on how to become a better artist and how to enter in the art industry.
We hope this post helps you. Good luck!
Okay, so. I've recently started trying to draw more non-human stuff, I guess? But, um, do you have any tips for drawing something not human like? Like I can't even draw papyrus i'm so bad at drawing things without a people face, I don't know how to draw something like that and make it look okay. I dunno, you have a lot of really cool non-human ocs and in general draw well so I just wanted to know if you had any "tips or tricks" up your sleeve. Have a nice day.
Wanna draw more non-human stuff?~ HECK YEAH, let’s go pal!
Doing that can really help your creativity and world building, and it can be tough if ya don’t know where to start! Hopefully a few of the tricks and tips I use can help.
When thinking up monster characters I usually start off with the head first, and get a basic skull down.
For example, if you take a humanoid head, there are MANY changes you can make to create a non-human looking character!
The biggest thing is to play around with shapes~! Placement/length/size of the eyes, mouth, nose, ears, etc. can all be changed and moved around!
Shapes are your best friend when it comes to designing.
Whether it be humans, skeletons, and monsters, it’s good to study face planes and angles.
ALSO, there’s tons of inspiration in the animal world!
Meshing together different pieces from animals and body parts helps with figuring out the body and proportions!
This is a good time to study anatomy. Afterall ya gotta learn about bodies before ya can mess around with’em.
Have fun with body proportions!
Long legs? Sharp teeth? Stubby claws? Long ears? Short tail? Big? Small?
The possibilities are endless!
You can look at other monster OC’s from people and get some inspiration.
Google search is your best friend for non-human references, and also color palettes! These can help you color your new monster with whatever fits them.
These are few of the starting points I consider when making a non-human character! Hoped it helped.
As promised! This is how I letter my work. Hope this is helpful to someone!

The amazing world of stock images
This is what I call “anime profile mouth”, and it’s a terrible scourge that has been set upon the world by anime. It sort of makes sense in anime, because it means you don’t have to animate the lips along with the mouth, making it cheaper to animate. But in webcomic form it makes absolutely no sense and should be banned. LIPS MOVE, PEOPLE.
