“You deserve far grander than the simplicity of a white dress,” Allison was not a human, not in the eyes of her dragon. She was far more and though she shared the blood of the king, she was no more kin to him than Raleigh was to him. They lived in these ruins from the time they were but children and if anything she was dragon. She was his blood and a white dress did not fit her on her grandest day. The great Dragon continued to eat happily, tearing pieces of the bread and pressing them to Allison’s lips before eating his own. “I never imagined a future any different from spending it with you, but not once did I dream it would be as your husband.” The concept was still foreign to him but he did not stray from it. Wasn’t going to because this was his life. It was going to be for the rest of it and he was pleased. “How much longer should we linger? It’d be best if we get home soon so not to worry of riding in the dark. I do not need your father to mistrust me any more than he does for coming to steal your heart.”
“Raleigh.” Allison leans over, tucking the tip of her nose against his neck, just underneath his jaw. Even after all of this time, it’s odd to nuzzle and cuddle her Dragon without his scales. The amount of times she’s cut her face on one of his scales were countless, and she scarcely ever felt the pain by the time she was taken from him. Still, half of the time she expects to pull back with blood beading on her cheek or the tip of her nose. But there is no such affliction this time and she’s able to smile against his skin, press a kiss there. “You are far too sweet. Far too kind, too good to me.” Reaching out, she breaks up a strawberry tart, pressing part of it between his lips and the rest of it between hers. “Not much longer. Whenever you are ready to depart, we can.” Not that she was sure either of them would truly be ready. At his remark about her father she can only laugh, leaning up on her knees to seal her lips over his, the kiss firm and lingering. “He cannot fault you for stealing what was given to you, freely and gladly.”
