Bringing the boys back. Â Revamping will happen over the next few days. Â Just a head's up.
Aftermath of a Revelation (Not Expectin' a Slapping)
Jekyll sat in the library, staring at the book in his lap, eyes completely unfocused on the words in front of him. Â Heâd been sitting that way for hours now, ignoring the bristling that was Hyde in the back of his mind. Â Hyde, at this point, literally could not break through the numbness that was Jekyllâs mind. Â It was like a blank, brick wall, and it was, for once, unbreakable. Â Just when he needed to be able to go to Lucy, to be able to beg for her forgiveness, just when Jekyll needed to stand up and be the man that Hyde could make him, he sat around in his library, and stared at a book in his lap. Â
At Pooleâs announcement, worded, Hyde knew, though it hadnât quite reached Jekyll yet, in such a way as though it could be Lucy with Poole, the man stood, turning towards the library door to greet his guests. Â
Utterson noted how Henry strode out into the main foyer, and Nellieâs brows furrowed together when she saw the man who was the cause of so much trouble. It always was a man, wasnât it?
Nellie stepped forward with no introduction, approached the man of the house with quick footsteps and raised her hand, smacking him across the face. The sound hung in the air for a moment, Poole unsure how to react and John unsure how long he could hide his snickering.
"Do you have any idea what youâve done? That girlâs tearinâ herself up over you and youâre here, wallowinâ in self pity?!"
Henry Jekyll looked up, only slightly surprised when the girl with Utterson was not, in fact, Lucy. Â Hyde had figured that it wouldnât be; it would have been too good to be true, for her to come here, with Utterson, of her own choosing. Â He knew it wasnât going to be her.
No, it was Nellie. Â And when Nellie marched right up to Jekyll and slapped him with no preamble, Hyde laughed outright. Â If he could have shaken the girlâs hand right then and there, he would have. Â Because Henry Jekyll deserved nothing more in the world than that slap, right at that moment. Â It was a most deserved slap, and his face recoiled from the blow of it, even as the sound rang in the air. Â
"What else am I supposed to do?" he asked Nellie, an almost pitiful sort of whine in his tone. Â
"You could have listened to me in the first place!â Hyde hissed inside the mind that they shared. Â "But instead, you had to sting Emma AND Lucy along for as long as you could, instead of just seeing how special my Lucy was right at the start!"
It was infuriating, how simply clueless Jekyll appeared to be. Â If Hyde could get rid of him and still be a complete man, he would love to know how to be able to do so.
With no knowledge of the voices within, Nellie continued and spoke over Hydeâ as much as one could speak over him.
"Youâre sâpposed tâfix it! Youâre sâpposed tâbe a good man!" She spat, hands on her hips as she leaned in dangerously close to Henryâs face, "You hurt the girl, and now sheâs back to her old tricks! You and Hyde, both aâyou, not allowed anywhere near her. And sheâs killinâ herself!"
Oh, how she wanted to slap him again.
"Whether you care about her or not, you told her once you would help her. Whatever you did to herâŚI hope youâre happy. Because sheâll be lucky to survive the month."
"And how am I supposed to fix it if she won't let me near her?" he demanded of Nellie, his tone less pitiful and more full of spine.  It wasn't quite Hyde, but it was definitely Hyde-influenced. Â
At Nellie's words, the man went pale, all the color draining out of his face. Â
Regardless of any consequences, Hyde shoved to the forefront, putting his hands on Nellie's shoulders.Â
"You have to get her to see (us) me," he begged.  "I (we) will do everything in my (our) power to fix this, but I (we) have to be able to see her to help!" Â
It was a mark of how completely desperate he was that Hyde was begging.  Begging and allowing himself to be vulnerable by forcing his way to the frontlines.  But he didn't know how to show Lucy just how sorry they were for having lied to her.  All he knew was that he would not stand by and let Lucy kill herself, not because of him (them).
sometimes, I do really wonder why I bother. Â Yes, I do this sort of thing for fun and because it makes other people happy, but why do I bother to put so much work, heart, and soul into a character only for it to go almost entirely unnoticed?
Ugh, and now I just feel like I'm whining (again). Â What is it that I'm doing wrong? Â Are my headcanons not interesting enough? Â Is my writing so poor that people can't stand to read it? Â Do I come across as unapproachable or a snob or something? Â
I get enough lack of appreciation at home; I thought my little corner of the internet, where I go to be myself, to be happy would be different. Â
Alive
He awoke with no real idea of where he was.....or quite who he was.  All he remembered was a beautiful woman, then walking away from her, feeling pain, and then waking, alive and free and hungry for something he couldn't quite place. Â
Stretching mightily, he raised his arms above his head, reveling in the feeling of the air on his skin. Â
The man looked around, trying to find out where he was. Â
It didn't take him long to locate a sign that read "Hyde Park." Â
Interesting.  He actually quite liked that name.  Hyde.  Perhaps he would take it for himself.  As for a forename, he had already chosen Edward.  There had been many kings named Edward and it felt like his name. Â
Edward Hyde.  It had a nice ring to it.  And it belonged to him. Â
Letting out a short, cruel laugh, he climbed on top of  one of the structures in the park, surveying it as though he owned the place. Â
And in his mind, he now did.  He was called Hyde, and this was Hyde Park.  It was his to do with as he would. Â
Suddenly, a scent caught his attention.  And it didn't just catch his attention; it hit him in the face like a slap. Â
It was her.  The woman.  And he needed her. Â
His face split into a wide grin as he leapt down from the structure on which he'd been surveying his park.  He would find her by her scent....and she would be his. Â
He knew or remembered practically nothing else, but he remembered her. Â
Hyde followed the scent of the woman down the path before him, until he found the woman herself.
"I knew I could find you," he practically purred, striding over to her with an almost proprietorial air. Â

Feeling a little rusty with Jekyll and Hyde, which is upsetting, because I am very VERY attached to this muse. Â I probably relate far too much to both Jekyll and Hyde, but probably Hyde even more. Â
Anyway, I could use some more things to get me back into their mindset (which I am in 90% of the time, anyway, living my own double life), so feel free to send things our way while Lucy!mun and I watch some of the BBC miniseries Jekyll.
Prompt: Oct 7th, after midnight. <3
Once his fiancĂŠe had left, Jekyll stayed where he was for a long time, sitting on the floor, stunned and shaken by what had just happened. Emma was ... well, she hadn't said that she was giving up on him, but to Jekyll, that's what the encounter and her words had conveyed.Â
His thoughts were whirling, too jumbled up to make much sense of anything.Â
Jekyll shook his head, trying to focus. He needed to focus. He needed to be able to figure out an antidote to the formula, and quickly.Â
But his head would not clear. Only one thing left to try...
The doctor picked up his pen and scrawled in his journal, caring only about getting his thoughts down on paper, not noticing how similar his handwriting was to Hyde's, at the moment.Â
October 7th. After midnight.
The experiment is out of control. He shuddered, but continued to write, fighting the force within himself that was desperate to appear once more. The transformations are starting to recur of their own accord. And once again, he was fighting Hyde, struggling to continue to write. The beast he could practically feel Hyde's protest has taken a heavy toll, not only on me, who can yet be saved a cruel laugh from the inside of his head, but on others, who cannot. I remain convinced that there is a way to counteract the effects of the formula, but I must have new chemicals for the antidote soon.
Another cruel laugh from inside his mind, one Jekyll tried to ignore. But he had a feeling that Hyde was part of the reason his chemicals were currently unavailable.Â
Jekyll kept writing, determined to be master in his own mind.
Every day they say they will be delivered, but still they do not come!  The feeling that he was trying to ignore from the other half of himself had practically convinced Jekyll that Hyde had something to do with the chemicals' failure to arrive.Â
Shaking his head, Jekyll forced himself to continue, forced himself to focus, to be stronger than Hyde.
I dare not leave this place. I am dangerous -- more dangerous than any wild animal stalking its prey...
He finally had a grip on his own mind, something that happened far less frequently than it should have, these days. He was running out of time...and he couldn't ask anyone for help, anyone for guidance.Â
Doctor Henry Jekyll was in this on his own.Â
"No one must ever know what I have done for if anyone does all my work is undone!" he cried, putting his head in his hands. It was hard, being so alone....and yet not alone at all.Â
Hyde was stirring again, but Jekyll continued, hoping that thinking his own thoughts would drive Hyde into dormancy, at least for a little while.Â
"And I must gain control of this monster inside" Hyde was protesting again "in the name of the people who've died!"Â
Good riddance to them, and you think so, too, Jekyll, the inner voice of Hyde crowed.Â
Jekyll shook his head, putting his hands over his ears, as though blocking out the world of sound could quiet the tempest raging inside his head.Â
"But how do I deal with a foe I can't see who whenever he wants takes possession of me?"
Which were entirely the wrong words. Calling attention to his predicament only encouraged Hyde to fight harder, and he was growing to be much stronger than Jekyll. Soon enough, Jekyll wouldn't be able to resist at all.Â
"In the battle of wills that is raging inside, will I end up as me or as Hyde?" he asked despairingly.Â
Hyde tasted that despair and he tried to profit from it, tried to take control of their body, but in vain.Â
Jekyll was stronger than Hyde gave him credit for, and he wasn't going to go down without a fight. The doctor beat back his own personal monster, struggling once again for possession of his own mind.
"Could it be? Have I really lost my way? Have I lost my mind?" A dark chuckle from Hyde. "Will I lose the day?"Â
If I have anything to say about it, you certainly will, Hyde said inside their mind, tone cruel and calculating.Â
Once more, Jekyll shook his head, as though that helped to dislodge Hyde from the foothold he had in taking control. It didn't, but it gave the illusion that he was doing something, that he was gaining ground over ... himself.Â
The question that was on his mind almost constantly, ever since this whole experiment had started burst forth from him, hanging in the air as though it was tangible.Â
"Am I a good man?" He managed to keep Hyde at bay, despite his despair. Jekyll thought that he was a good man, he had just lost his path, somewhere along the line.Â
"Am I a madman?" which was, of course, the other question that ran through his head more times each day than he could count. If he wasn't a good man and he wasn't a madman.....what was he?
"There's such a fine line between a good man and a bad....," he mused, shoving Hyde as far away from the forefront of their mind as he could. He was not relinquishing his body to that monster; he was going to find a way to fix this, and then he was going to finish his original experiment. He would save his father, even if it damned his own soul in the process.  Â
You see my character hunched over, coughing up blood. What do you do?
Thank you to my lovely new follower for the prompt. Â ^^ Â I promise I'm getting to it, but my drabbles tend to ... get really long. Â XD Â So, that's just a warning for you! Â
People should feel free to ask Jekyll/Hyde anything and everything. Â If Jekyll won't answer, Hyde'll usually answer for the both of them. Â ^^

"Semantics." She murmured under her breath, refusing to release him, even as she noticed the uncertainty lingering in his eyes. Had he preferred beingâŚfree from that world? Had she done a cruel, a selfish thing?
A whimper left her lips, and she buried her face in his neck again, placing a gentle kiss on his jaw. âI missed youâŚthe curse broke, everyone remembered except you and I thought Iâd lost you for goodâŚI never meantâŚI didnâtâŚI caused all this trouble, I didnât mean tooâŚâ
She was in tears, pulling away to hold him at arms length, her make up streaking down her cheeks with each fallen tear, âThis was all my faultâŚâ
Even though he knew he didn't deserve her (had never deserved her, in point of fact), that didn't mean that he wasn't ridiculously glad to see her.  He was just painfully aware of how truly undeserving he was. Â
Which was unusual in and of itself.  Back in London, he had seen himself as entitled to everything he had had, partly because that was the way that Jekyll felt. Â
The curse, now that he remembered it, and knew who he truly was, had taught Hyde a lesson in humility, one that he might never have learned otherwise. Â
"Oh, Lucy," he breathed, burying his face in her hair until she pulled away, in tears. Â
He reached a hand out to her, wiping the tears from her cheeks. Â
"My sweet Lucy," he murmured, pulling her to him and wrapping his arms around her. Â "No, Lucy, it wasn't your fault....I drove you to it, with my anger and my jealousy." Â
Hyde was taking responsibility for his actions....something he'd only recently learned how to do.
The Regular at the Bar
Aceâs white tee was stained with whiskey, rum from wiping the tables, and the chambord that splashed her while mixing a Red Velvet. âDamnâŚâ She huffed as she ran her fingers through her hair. The girl stood in the restroom, fluffing up for the night crowd. Thankfully she always kept a few spare changes in her work locker. Just in case.Â
Donning, quickly, a red miniskirt and a black scoop neck tank, she tugged on her boots and checked herself. âItâll doâŚâ She ran her fingers through her hair once more, satisfied with the curls that fell about her face.Â
The night crowd started early, there was a live band that night so various patrons arrived sooner than later. It enabled them access to their preferred seats before the groupies arrived. Ace didnât mind, meant more tips. And if the band was good, she might even be inclined to kick a few glasses off the bar.Â
Music played, and drinks were made; regulars popped in and out through the evening. Then in walked him. He was suave, well kept, and tipped well. Not to mention, he was definitely a patron of The Rabbit Hole. âWell howâs it hanginâ Doc?â She shouted over the music, wide smile on her face. She ran a white rag over the bar where the man was headed, ensuring he had a clean place to lean. She rested her arms on the wood, her chest heaving slightly in the process, âThe usual?â Dr. Damian Harris was probably her favorite customer, and she couldnât resist laying it on thick whenever he strolled into her little corner of hell.
Well. Â His shift was over and, since he wasn't staying late today to make up for that sorry excuse they called Dr. Whale, Damian figured that he might as well go out and have some fun. Â He ... didn't have anyone lined up for later tonight, and he was feeling ... social, for a change. Â
Which meant, of course, that he was headed for The Rabbit Hole, his favorite place to get a drink. Â He was a regular and people in the place knew him, something that he quite enjoyed. Â
Pushing the doors to the bar open, he stood in the doorway, surveying the bar with a sort of ... proprietorial air. Â With the amount of money he spent here, he might as well own the place.
Hmmm, that was something to look into. Â He could enjoy owning The Rabbit Hole, he was sure. Â
Glancing around the bar once more, he saw that Ace was the one behind the bar and a smirk slipped onto his face.Â
My, she was looking fine tonight.  Mmm-mmm, he could get used to looking at her. Â
"It's not going to be hanging long, with the way you look tonight," he responded, a charming grin slipping onto his face.  They exchanged this sort of banter regularly, but it hadn't yet gone anywhere.Â
Which was a pity, really.
"The usual sounds bloody fantastic, Ace, thanks," he said, raising his voice to be heard above the din. Â True, he took his scotch neat, but it always tasted better when Ace was the one behind the bar. Â

Emma hadnât been invited to the party, as usual; but by word of mouth (meaning she had convinced Rich to tell her) she had learned the time and place and had shown up anyway. She walked around, wine goblet in her hand, chatting idly but eventually ending up in a lone corner. Glancing around, she saw someone who was doing the same thing, and decided to approach them.
"The band they have playing is certainly less-than-adequate," she drawled casually.
Since his fiancee had called off their engagement, Dr. Jekyll hadn't exactly been the most social of creatures. Â What with dealing with Hyde and trying to figure out a way to tell Lucy about himself (themself?), he'd been to busy to pay much attention to the social dues that he was supposed to pay. Â
But, Poole, faithful servant that he was, had convinced Jekyll that a part was just the thing to help make the society of London forget his recent ... oddness. Â
He'd greeted many of the guests and was enjoying a drink by himself when a young woman approached him, one he'd not seen before. Â
A smile slipped onto his face at her comment and he took a sip of his drink before answering.Â
"Yes, perhaps I should have actually heard them play before hiring them for such an event," he responded, though he agreed with the young woman.Â
Bowing slightly in her direction, he introduced himself. Â
"Dr. Henry Jekyll, at your service."

Dr. Jekyll stood at the young womanâs greeting, taking her proffered hand and bending over it, the way a proper gentleman should. Â He was going to treat this young woman like any other young woman unless and until she gave him cause otherwise. Â
The young woman gave her name as Elphaba Thropp, a lovely, if unusual, name.  Jekyll was quite willing to hazard that that was not the only unusual thing about her; she had an air of intelligence and stubbornness about her that quite intrigued him.  After all, most women in this day were rather âŚ. suppressed and discouraged when it came to being outspoken.  Perhaps that was one of the things that had really drawn him to Lucy; despite her ⌠situation, she was still absolutely an individual. Â
And just as he was thinking about Lucy, Miss Thropp mentioned the name.  Surely she couldnât mean Lucy HarrisâŚ.but how many Lucys was he acquainted with, really? Â
"Please, Miss Thropp, have a seat and Iâll look at it right away," he told her, gesturing to one of the chairs by the fire. Â It was a chilly morning and it wouldnât do for her to catch cold on top of her injury. Â
"Iâll just get my kit and weâll see what we can do about your head," Jekyll said with a small smile. Â This young woman intrigued him. Â He was sorry that their meeting had had to come about in this way, but he was quite certain he would benefit from her acquaintance. Â
Raising an eyebrow, Elphaba gave the man a look. All sheâd been intending was to shake his hand but he- he was starting in on all of this bowing nonsense. Of course, sheâd seen men and boys do as much for people like Galinda and even Nessa, but never her. So there was definitely something different about this man. Which must be why Lucy likes him.Â
So, until he gave her reason to do otherwise, she could be nice. Or at least, she could try to be. Not that she came here with the intention of getting into a fight⌠She still wasnât sure why sheâd felt she could come here, especially with Lucy being asleep but apparently it was okay as he didnât seem to bothered by it. He didnât seem to be to bothered by anything. Which was intriguing. Vaguely, she wondered what heâd dealt with in the past to make him this not bothered (not the right word, but it was the closest she could come to it) by her. It was refreshing, actually. Two seemingly normal people in one place who didnât care about her verdigree. Had to be some sort of record.Â
"Thank you, sir." She muttered, determined to be polite. Which, despite what others may think, was something she was capable of. Elphaba took the seat he gestured to, sitting lightly in it.Â
"For doing all of this." And actually being a decent human being. Despite herself, she laughed at his comment. âI doubt it, sir. Plenty of people have tried that, and somehow, it never seems to work for them. If you could just patch it up, thatâd be enough." She joked, watching him go after his kit.
And preying he didnât try anything with water. As nice as he may be, sheâd still only just met him, and had no desire to tell that to anyone. Sheâd managed to keep it from everyone, including Galinda and Nessa when sheâd found out.Â
"It's no problem at all," Jekyll said with a small smile. Â It was his job to see to injuries, and this woman had an injury. Â Add to that the fact that Lucy had sent her his way, and he was going to do his best to help this young woman as much as he could. Â
He blinked at her joke, not quite understanding for a moment, but that quickly passed and he laughed, genuinely amused. Â
"While I could attempt to help you in that manner, as well, I'm more of a physical doctor, most of the time."  He had seen his share of psychiatric cases, though, and was certainly qualified for that sort of thing, however.Â
Moving the hair from the wound, he murmured, "Well, it looks quite clean, which is a bit surprising. Â But it looks like you'll need stitches," he told her, almost apologetically. Â
Dr. Jekyll stood to pour the young woman a glass of wine; she would need it.Â
"Here, drink this. Â What I'm about to do will sting a little bit, but it will be much better in the long run."
With that, he took his needle and sutures and began sewing up the wound, being as careful and as gentle as he could.
Doctor, Doctor { OUAT }
Dr. Harris glanced at a nurse and she hurried over, hospital gown in hand, followed by a second nurse, this one pushing a wheelchair. Â
"Iâm afraid that the more you move, the worse your leg will be," he responded to her question as the nurse handed her the hospital gown. Â "However, we can allow you a wheelchair," the doctor murmured, glancing at her injured limb. Â It was definitely broken, that much he could tell simply by looking at it. Â
"Youâll have to allow the staff to put you in the wheelchair, though, or the gurney it is."  Another gesture sent the staff back to the gurney, ready to move the young woman to the wheelchair at a momentâs command.  They either respected the doctor incredibly much ⌠or they feared him a bit, they reacted so quickly to his commands. Â
The woman took the gown from the nurse, wondering a moment how she was supposed to get the thing on as the Doctor began to answer her question.
With barely a moments thought, she pushed herself to sit up, leaning on her elbows, âYeah, fine, justâŚyeah, Iâll use the wheelchair." Lucia glanced up at the hospital staff with a wary eyeâ she wasnât really fond of being touched.
Quickly, she was moved off the gurney and into the wheelchair, visibly relaxing at simply having some control over her own movement again. One of the nurses helped her pull the hospital gown on, and Lucia seemed much more calm than she had been when theyâd entered.
Once his patient was more comfortably situated, Dr. Harris gestured to one of the nurses to push her wheelchair along as he walked beside her. Â
"As soon as we get your x-rays, we'll see about getting you fixed up," he said coolly. Â There was more to this situation than the patient was telling, and he needed to know the full story in order to properly treat her.Â
"Nurse," he handed the nurse the orders for the x-rays and went off to wait in the room where they would be bringing Lucia once she had had the proper scans. Â
