Give me a Garroth who has moved on but an Aphmau who wants to be in his arms.

Give me a Laurance who has let go of the perfect love he constructed in his head but an Aphmau who misses and craves his affections.

Give me a Katelyn who has never seen her in that light but an Aphmau who fell for her anyway.

Give me an Aaron still so devoted to his lost wife but an Aphmau who wishes he would look at her with the same look he has when he talks about Lily.

That line that Laurance said to Garroth in regards to Aaron’s death… like imagine how much guilt that must have made him feel.

Like imagine him taking care of Alina, the daughter of the man that got himself killed rescuing him, and questioning why he gets to have those moments with her and he doesn’t.

Why does he get to watch her first steps? Hear her first words? Be there for her when she cries? Make her laugh and smile?

He gets to take over the role of father to the girl whose biological father died saving him.

Laurance and Aphmau literally become each other’s confidants as season one comes to a close. The only people they can truly trust is each other. No wonder Garroth lets jealousy gets the better of him (I still don’t think he would betray them without Lillian influencing it magically). However, Aph and Laurance’s relationship grew in such a short amount of time. This shift really began after they visit Meteli and they hug. Suddenly, they’re keeping secret between each other and they’re the only people making each other laugh. They are both the people that they let loose with and the people that they go to when things get difficult. Honestly, if everything with Scaleswind and Zane hadn’t happened I feel like it would have led to their relationship developing into an actual romance.

Garroth is 1) the second primary caretaker of Aphmau's children 2) having the most personal and honest interactions with Aph that we've seen in the entire show and 3) almost appears to be living with her??? maybe this is wish fulfillment but in ep 2 Garroth left the guard keep (the only place we've ever seen him live) at night after interrogating Zane which makes me think he was probably living somewhere else. Then I remember both Levin and Zoey's old rooms being vacant and long story short I can totally imagine Garroth just kind of. seamlessly moving in to help Aphmau after Alina was born and without any fanfare or discussion he just fuckin... stays there. It starts out as a friend helping a friend and then it turns into unspoken common law marriage and both of them deny any type of romantic nature to their relationship meanwhile Aphmau is wearing the ring he gave her back in s1 and her two daughters have drawings of a big armored man over their bed with the caption "Best daddy in the world" and no one bats an eye at it.

Do you think when aphmau saw grown Levin for the first time all she could see was the man she had just lost?

Drew these during my rewatch of MCD I’m on S2 Ep. 66 as this is written.

Now here’s where my thoughts on the series come in (feel free to ignore I’m just yapping):

I have this hc that Garmau is endgame in mcd as he’s been there for her as a friend and loyal guard. He’s been there to support her from the beginning, and despite his betrayal and immature actions, he learns to grow from it. Aphmau, post-Aaron death, can learn to open her heart to him once she forgives Aaron for leaving her. I like to think that Garroth puts his feelings aside for the umpteenth time to be there for Aphmau while she grieves and helps her raise Lilith and Alina. I think it’d be too tragic for Aphmau to never love again after her first relationship.

Tl;dr Aphmau learns to love again after Garroth supports her through her grief after Aaron’s death. She appreciates his companionship and opens up her heart again.
