Of  course  she  does  ,  Elena  will  always  ,  always  ,  have  a  special  place  in  Caroline's  heart  ,  that  is  her  best  friend  ,  however  they  have  a  very  complicated  push  and  pull  relationship. 

They  are  both  guilty  of  being  shitty  towards  each  other  ,  misunderstanding  and  unwilling  to  hear  the  others  opinions.  Their  relationship  of  course  changes  throughout  the  show  and  at  different  points  in  time  things  become  more  estranged  between  the  two  of  them  ,  but  most  of  the  time  ,  even  when  things  are  difficult  ,  they  do  remain  loyal  to  each  other.

A  lot  of  their  dynamic  is  shaped  by  jealousy  ,  insecurity  ,  trauma  and  feelings  of  inadequacy  and  being  left  behind.  From  the  get  go  we  see  some  of  these  issues  coming  into  play  ,  Elena  is  recovering  from  a  huge  trauma  ,  has  people  surrounding  her  and  is  already  a  well  liked  person.  Caroline  is  very  vigilant  and  compares  herself  to  Elena  a  lot.  They've  grown  up  as  best  friends  and  yet  she  feels  like  things  aren't  equal  ,  which  they  are  not.  However  Caroline  does  fail  to  see  that  it's  not  exactly  Elena's  fault.  The  same  way  Elena  unintentionally  dismisses  Caroline's  real  insecurities  a  lot  and  that  her  pain  isn't  as  important  as  her  own.

Caroline  also  upon  becoming  a  vampire  ,  which  is  already  a  traumatic  thing  to  happen  ,  after  almost  dying  anyway.  Then  gets  her  memories  back  on  what  Damon  actually  did  to  her  ,  and  it's  extremely  painful  for  her  to  watch  Elena  fall  in  love  with  him  and  be  with  him  anyway. 

We've  seen  the  show  ,  we  know  the  boat  load  of  trauma  that  everyone  goes  through  ,  but  if  Caroline  didn't  like  Elena  she  wouldn't  have  forgiven  mistakes  that  actually  could  have  ended  their  friendship.  They  grow  up  ,  and  actually  become  more  like  sisters  as  the  show  goes  on.  Actually  finding  themselves  as  equals. 

Their  relationship  has  been  unhealthy  in  the  past  ,  and  it  will  never  be  perfect  ,  what  relationship  is  ? 

Now  if  you're  wondering  if  my  Caroline  personally  likes  Elena  ,  it  depends  in  which  verse  ,  where  in  the  timeline  and  what  the  actual  plot  of  the  thread  is. 

I  have  had  many  threads  where  Caroline  and  Elena  are  being  sweet  to  each  other  ,  and  threads  where  they're  frustrated  ,  that's  the  fun  of  roleplaying  ,  exploring  all  sides. 

My  Caroline  is  95% canon  ,  and  besides  messing  with  Elena  because  she  is  annoyed  at  her  ,  Caroline's  loyalty  will  always  be  with  Elena  ,  even  during  a  fight.  She  would  not  see  anything  bad  actually  happen  to  Elena  on  purpose. 

Remember  when  Elena  started  dating  Caroline's  abuser  ?  me  too.  Isn't  it  just  CRAZY  that  Caroline  might  have  some  salty  feelings  to  someone  who  is  supposed  to  be  her  best  friend  since  they  were  six  ?  CRAZY. 

Caroline  is  in  no  way  the  perfect  person  ,  she  knows  that  ,  WHY  DO  YOU  THINK  SHE  TRIES  SO  FUCKING  HARD  ALL  OF  THE  TIME  ,  but  she's  actively  trying  to  be  a  better  person.

It  felt  like  she  could  barely  move  in  their  small  room  …  when  had  it  become  their  room  and  not  her  room  ?  ❝  clean  it  up  Katherine  ❞.

Your Caroline has been my fave since the second I met her way back 4 years almost 5? Ago? You two are pretty much the same person so it's so real when you write her. It feels like it's taken from experience and that gives it a sort of edge that you can only get when you've felt what they're feeling. Her struggles are all showcased wonderfully in your writing and I always love when youre on the dash with her. You are the Caroline to my Elena AND Katherine <3

NOBIII  ,  honestly  my  biggest  cheerleader  (  ironic  I  know  )  ,  but  I  would  have  never  began  writing  Caroline  if  not  for  you  ,  she  and  I  have  been  on  (  unnecessary  )  journeys  but  we  are  still  going  strong  !

I  am  so  glad  that  after  all  these  years  she's  still  loved  !!  ILYSMMM
