IT WAS ABOUT NEARLY PAST ONE AM WHEN HER TEXT ARRIVED, CATCHING HIM OFF GUARD. Since it was a Friday evening with no scheduled pre-game rituals or far demanding training than usual, John had decided to open the family's garage and take in a couple unexpected clients on his on. It was a routine for him, a therapy of sorts even - cleaning his dirty hands from dirty, a mix of car fluids and grease away on the old flannel atop his reserved metal work table for the night, he gets ahold his phone while chuging some water from his water bottle.

Grace had messaged! The notification, now nearly five minutes old, made a huge grin tug along his lips.

Eyes flit to latch onto Logan’s, but eye contact lasted only seconds, then Rachel captured and coaxed Logan into a desperate exchange. I don’t want to look at you because you’re–  you’re losing your shit over nothing.” A blend of a chuckle and a scoff left the thespian then and there, arms coming up and crossing over her chest. “Oh my god, she has drugs! Oh my god, she’s selling them, too? God, that’s just– unheard of, never seen before.”

She doesn’t realize his chastising might be because he’s concerned because to her he doesn’t sound concerned, he sounds like he’s judging her.

“I know what I’m doing, okay – ? I know the risks, but I know the rewards, too, because I’ve been doing this on and off since I was sixteen.”  A beat passed, and then:  “And before you lose your shit over the prospect, too, no, I’m not doing them. I used to, I don’t anymore.”
