Long-tongued, termite-munching numbats are no longer endangered due to decades of successful conservation efforts, the global authority on the status of the natural world says.
Also known as banded anteaters, the status of the pint-sized marsupial has improved to near-threatened on the International Union for Conservation of Nature Red List. ''Today's assessments show that long-term, strategic and collaborative conservation effort works,'' conservation biologistJohn Woinarski said on Friday. ''Without it, invasive cats and foxes will continue to drive Australia's small marsupials and native rodents to extinction.''

Desmond Dekker - "Israelites" 1975 Reggae / Ska
Desmond Dekker's "Israelites" is one of the most important songs in the history of Jamaica because of how well it ended up being received globally. Prior to its 1968/9 release, vast majorities of both the US and UK had not been accustomed at all to reggae's own off-beat riddims, but this irresistibly soul-piercing, spiritual Rastafarian hymn of sorts fundamentally changed that, and opened the door for reggae to flourish in many other countries, thus providing Jamaica with a lot more revenue streams for its own music industry too.
Video is from a widely panned 1975 British comedy flick called Side by Side, but the audio is the studio version of "Israelites" that became the major global hit in the late 60s. A pretty big YouTube account called Smurfstools Oldies Music Time Machine synced it all up here really well.
