Well I just got back from the middle of the woods on a hike SO.

Taking stock here:

Middsy to Calgary (with picks)

To MN is Blake Coleman (F), Ollie Maatta (D)

Offloading salary and getting two full fledge NHL players in a return is a good deal. Ollie seems like a solid third pair substitute and Coleman will be good on the third forward line to fill in a much needed spot and he seems like he’s much faster than Vlad. Definitely seems like a win overall.

Shabanov: I know nothing about this guy. Forward at less than 2 million of a cap hit. Younger and I think they see the potential for him to grow if he’s mentored by Kirill. He’s on the smaller side. But again we’ve gotten much faster.

Both seem like solid (Middleton trade) to wait and see (Shabanov) moves and I’m guessing Billy is not at all done yet. Long way to go.

Idk if this is relevant but also, Coleman and Maatta have both won the cup twice, according to my cursory look at their Wikipedia pages - maybe BG is also thinking about getting us guys with experience in deep playoff runs?
