This meme is a MURDER ATTEMPT.
I am absolutely fucking serious. The original meme, without the big red denial, is someone's attempt to fucking kill people.
There is NO SAFE DOSAGE of pennyroyal oil. Even Mother Earth News says there's no reason to use pennyroyal essential oil for ANYTHING, even topically or as a fragrance, for fuckssake! That should give you some idea about how dangerous it is!
Pennyroyal tea, plant matter in hot water, is a traditional abortifacient. It is *incredibly* dangerous, induces abortion by bringing the body close to organ failure (and frequently pushing the system right over the edge, because dosage is impossible to meter), but I would drink a gallon of it before I took a half-teaspoon of pennyroyal essential oil.
Two teaspoons, taken across 48 hours, has successfully killed someone.
Three teaspoons taken as a single dosage killed the consumer within THREE HOURS.
There is NO SAFE DOSAGE! FOR PENNYROYAL OIL INTERNALLY! NONE!
The person who made this meme is PURPOSEFULLY, ACTIVELY, trying to get desperate people killed!
Pennyroyal oil contains pulegone, which is highly toxic, particularly to the liver. Ingestion can lead initially to gastrointestinal distress such as nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. Later on, it can lead to failure of the liver and kidneys, resulting in bleeding, seizures, multiple organ failure, and death.
There is no antidote for pennyroyal oil poisoning.

In the hope that this saves someone’s life one day.
I have a bee-related question: Stardew Valley has bee homes that generate honey for you, and if you plant flowers near their hives, it generates a honey based on that flower. I was wondering if that can actually happen with bee hives, and if you can get naturally different flavored honey if a hive pollinates a specific flower, or if it's just a game mechanic for variety sake
yeah, actually!
the quality and taste of honey varies pretty hugely depending on what type of flowers were used to create it. most commercial honeys are just kind of a fun whatever-the-bees-found-that day mélange with maybe some added corn syrup, but there's also a specialty market for honeys where the bees were only exposed to (mostly) a specific type of flower!
so yeah, the next time you have some free cash and find yourself in need of a sweet treat, perhaps you could experiment a little :)
(orange blossom honey is my personal favorite, but they're all good. I mean. it's all honey.)
Runescape also has that feature where you put different flowers in the beehive and it generates different honeys
Scientists have discovered how to make glow-in-the-dark cats by inserting the jellyfish genes that create fluorescent proteins into feline eggs.
I needed to check that this was real, and apparently, it is. What’s more, the end goal in these experiments was to fight feline AIDS, creating glow-in-the-dark cats was a side effect. That might be the greatest sentence I write this year.
Ok, so the short version is that scientists want to insert a Useful Gene. But they have no way of knowing if the Useful Gene actually got incorporated into the cat’s (or other animal’s) DNA. So they glue the Glow Gene to the Useful Gene. If the animal glows, both genes got inserted successfully.
Yes! Pretty much every glow in the dark science animal is that way because of the above! A lot of people don’t get that, and think scientists are just screwing around and doing slightly irresponsible things with animal DNA just cuz they can. That’s not the case at all
i love p-glo
“why is there a dumbbell on the base of your cat tree?”: a tragedy in 3 parts
I have a textbook at the bottom of mine because even though its more stable with 2 scratching posts somehow my cat decides she's gonna topple it
