“I… I was. Sorry, this is a bit difficult for me to bring back up. I was… Not in good relationships in the two I previously mentioned. The first one was with a girl my father had set me up with for his own political purposes. She… She was horrid. She used to curse me out for anything. She used to beat me, too, because I never wanted to be intimate for… Obvious reasons. Not just because I’m solely attracted to guys now. In part because of her. My… My ex… My last ex. He… He had a pretty one track mind. He was a bit taller than you and definitely stronger than me. He used that to his advantage. I never felt ready, though. He tried to slowly coax me into sex, but I never wanted to do anything. He had eventually gotten frustrated and pissed drunk enough to just go for it.”

Abel tried to keep himself from crying, his hands shook as he tried to poor himself another drink.

“What made you start caring about me so much?”

         The fighter’s expression turned sharp as he listened to Abel and squeezed on his hand when he reached for it, brushing his thumb back and forth against the skin to soothe him. He could already feel the anger building up from just imagining someone taking advantage of his navigator and wished he could make that person pay for what he did. Even though it wouldn’t change things nor make them better, it was a strong desire nevertheless.

         His stare shifted away for a moment, tempted to move his hand away since talking about his feelings wasn’t something he was keen to. Cain wasn’t the type to open up, but he should’ve expected Abel to ask that kind of stuff. He took a deep breath and pulled his hand away to use both as support against the floor when he leaned back with his gaze locked on the ground.

         “You don’t think of me like I’m some sort of animal. Despite everything…you still want to protect me…us. You’re a good person.” Onyx hues went back to meet Abel’s own and  curl the corner of his lip into a half smile. One that didn’t last as he asked his next question.
