In canon, what should be at least worthy of a serious discussion, if not outright mutiny by Acronix, is relegated to playful sibling banter, so the fact that an Acronix that acts against his brother in so many fanfics makes perfect sense, and indeed feels very satisfying when contrasted with canon. Because Krux's plans go against Acronix's interests, a heel face turn from him is a natural narrative choice and may actually feel more in character then actual canon. It also allows him to be a more active force, as, in canon, he's a very passive presence, once he meets up with his brother, he basically exists to have Krux's plans explained to him.
