Richard had never any siblings of his own, for better or for worse it had only ever been him and so perhaps he was not the best to offer advice in the realm of contending with siblings. Such questions were far better suited to Asbel or Hubert, or perhaps even Pascal. He could imagine the challenges of growing up and shifting interests could strain any bond, but he also had faith they could overcome it.Ā
"You need not worry," Richard said with a wink. "Your secret is safe with me."Ā
"That sounds like a wonderful idea," Richard answered with every bit the cheer Hollis had. Arianne had been asking when they would next gather and even he would agree such a thing was long overdue. "I would love to see everyone again, and I admit its been far too long. Perhaps Asbel will permit us to invade Lhant again and we can picnic up on the hill. What do you think?"
Hollis grinned up at Richard, his gratitude very clear upon his face. "Thanks Richard. I owe you one!" He exclaimed, and his happiness was only furthered by Richard's willingness to get everyone together for a picnic. He missed the others, and he was sure that Malik would be just as happy to see everyone.
"That sounds lovely!" Came the perhaps overly celebratory response. "I know so many games that all of us can play together, and Emmaline's been dying to show off her new magics!" The blond child jumped up and down in excitement, only to be red in the face from embarrassment when he stopped. "Can that be a secret as well? I got too excited."
Lambda discarded the subject, had little intention of trying to convince this child to disagree with his mother. Human children were unusually stubborn in believing anything their parents told them, so no matter how Lambda disagreed he pushed no further. To he who had struggled endlessly for a millennia simply toĀ live,Ā to listen to someone being glorified for throwing it away put a distaste in his mouth.Ā
"Did I ever claim to be?" Lambda returned. Not that he would fault the child for his surprise. For all appearances he was human, carried the form of one. Few would have the ability or capacity to distinguish him from another. It was the only thing that allowed him to live in some semblance of peace.
The boyās reaction, however, was an interesting one, not at all fazed by the prospect, enough so that Lambda wondered if he the first non-human this child had encountered. āWhat difference do my abilities make to you? This vessel is a human one, so it is human in its physical capacity.āĀ
"Nothing exists forever. All things have a beginning and end, those that people believe to exist forever, simply have lifespans beyond their capacity to perceive. I do not live forever, but I will long outlive any single human lifespan." Ā
"No, I guess not..." Hollis replied, his voice faded off as he thought about their conversation. Lambda indeed had never claimed to be human, but honestly he looked so much like a human that you could never tell just by looking at him whereas the Winglies that his mother had shown him had platinum hair and glowing wings.
"I was just curious is all." He said innocently, folding his arms behind his back. "Besides, not all humans have the same abilities." Hollis rocked back and forth on his feet. "Mother can control dragons, and you already know what Father can do."
"Like Sophie then?" He asked, his head tilted to the side. Malik had taught the boy about his friends and about his mother and what he knew of her friends as well. Sophie was one that stuck out in his mind, however, because she appeared no older than he did.
"Then he was weak and he was a fool," Lambda retorted. "Perhaps he served a purpose in death but that was chance alone. Few will find it as such. If you believe in something then become strong enough to fight for it, live to see it fulfilled and do not simply leave that burden upon those left behind."Ā
Lambda knew humanās time was ultimately limited, that they would pass a goal from one to the next. It was inevitable. However to simply die and leave it to those left behind when they had yet to live the full extent of their lives, that was sheer idiocy.
"Take responsibility for what you believe, do not leave it upon otherās shoulders and to chance alone. The one you speak of is rare. Very few will serve their cause after death and certainly none in this world."
Lambda paused, eyeing the boy for his choice of words. Not many could tell he not as he appeared.
"Perceptive. You think as much because I am not human as you are, little more."Ā
"Mother would argue otherwise..." The child said softly, recalling the emotion that Rose felt whenever she spoke of Lavitz. His mother's friends also acted with such emotion as well when the knight was mentioned. However, continuing this tangent with Lambda seemed to be carrying him nowhere, so the child decided to drop the subject, one of the things he learned from watching his parents. They didn't teach him that skill, however, as they were both too stubborn to admit defeat to anything. Instead, Hollis gathered that it was better to drop something over fight with someone.
"Wait, you're not human?" Hollis inquired, raising an eyebrow at the other. Sure, something felt different about Lambda, but he would have never guessed that it was because he was a completely different race. What could he be if not human? He certainly didn't match the descriptions his mother gave him about Winglies or Gigantos, but nothing else came to mind.
"That's really cool!" He chirped. "What makes you different from a human then? Can you fly, or do you have magic powers that set you higher than humans?" Hollis gasped. "Do you live forever?" His whispered curiously, his childlike imagination getting the better of him as he rattled off questions.

"Mom and Dad just ran past me with explosives. They were also laughing maniacally. I'm afraid."
"And what good are you to your cause if you are dead?" Lambda asked, sparing none of the weight to his words, the sharpness in his voice because this was a child. It made no difference in his eyes. It was not wrong to have ideals, but becoming a martyr to them served nothing. "You will solve nothing by throwing your life away so easily. If you truly believe in what cause you fight for, then you will live to see it through. If you die facing a foe you know beyond you then you are no more than a fool; and your dream will die with you."
It was perhaps the only advice he could impart, the only he had received in turn millenia ago.Ā
Live on.
"Hmph," Lambda scoffed, disbelief filtering in his expression. "You certainly are a strange child. What purpose would you have in doing such a thing?"Ā
"Not necessarily." Hollis proclaimed, feeling increasingly small and insignificant as Lambda spoke. Just because he was young didn't mean he didn't know what he was talking about. "A friend of my mother died facing a foe that he knew was far more skilled than himself. He ended up saving a king's life, and later he led the group to their final battle. Even in death he helped his friends move on when they would not have been able to otherwise." Lavitz's sacrifice was something his mother mourned every year with her friends that knew him. He was a brave man for standing up to Lloyd like that, and his death left everyone with a heavy heart. However, it was true that they would not have been able to progress in Mayfil, the Death City, if he had not given up his life.
"I'm not sure, if I'm being honest with you." He said softly, not meeting the other's eyes. "There is just something about you that feels different, but it's a good different. I can't really explain it."
A sigh escaped her as she looked around and pressed her trench coat to her being. āBecause Iām not exactlyĀ human but at the same time, Iām nothing of a monster.ā With a moment to think, the girl breathed out a puff of green flame, letting it flicker in the air before it died out. āI doubt youāve heard of the term Han Junketsu, so the basics are, Iām a dragon-human mixā¦āĀ
Taking out her katana and letting the blade sing against the sheath, she gave another breath only to expose fangs. āThatās why Iām not able to lead you to some big town here either⦠Telemoraās King has a āHan Junketsu must be killedā type thing, and the matter is something I doubt youād understand.āĀ
It was too big to explain.. .A war against a king whom only uses his people as shields so he can grab the power of the world. That was something that she couldnāt allow⦠Especially after heĀ tortured her for two full years. That was when her mind clicked and she looked back to him, her katana in hand but in a careful manner. āKid, one word of advice I can give you is⦠NeverĀ wish for power. Power turns humans into monsters⦠Thatās all it will ever do and has done.āĀ
"Not human?" He repeated, instantly going down the list of creatures his mother had taught him about. She didn't match the description of any of them, and the green flame that emitted from her lips only furthered that. "You're part dragon?" He said in awe.Ā His mother would be all over this. She loved dragons with a passion and did everything in her power to protect them. His father told him that it was because of an old friend of hers, but he was unsure how true that was. "That's awful! Mother says that no one should be killed just because of their race, and I agree!"
Her little rant about power made Hollis a bit uncomfortable. Both of his parents were incredibly powerful people, his father being a strong magic wielder and his mother... he wasn't sure what made her so powerful. She was crazy good with her blade, but that's all Hollis knew. Emmaline, his sister, said that he would know when he got older. "It doesn't turn everyone into a monster..." He whispered.
"Ahā theyāre not that scary yaā know as long as you have a weapon or magicā¦" Kaida shook her head before scratching the back of it with her left hand, feeling bad for how muchĀ fearĀ was going through the kid at the moment. Nose twitching and pointed ears following the movement, she gave a gentle smile and moved forward. āIāll help you. I couldnāt leave someone like you out here anywayā at least not alone.āĀ
Pulling herself forward, she moved with a skip, not sensing anything bad for miles. āAnyway⦠the shadows usually only attack me so you shouldnāt feel scared or anything, theyāre something easy to handle.āĀ
"I have my dagger with me..." He voiced, patting the blades sheath. It wasn't the sword his parents would be gifting him soon, but he could still use it. Hollis seriously doubted that it would be worthy against a monster though.
"Why do they only attack you?" NowĀ thatĀ sounded shady. Why would such creatures only attack her? What was wrong with her that would provoke such a response?
OhĀ goddessesā¦She felt worried about this child suddenly, unsure of what to do before she took another deep breath. The smell of fear was obvious and luckily if any of theĀ beastsĀ did show up, she was there and ready though⦠āTheyāre shadows but not. They are complete and physical beings that attack like any predator animal would. You never can tell when they are coming though because they justĀ pop up in whatever other shadow they can find on the surface.āĀ
And I just terrified a child more, didnāt I?Ā
"Right." He replied, feeling incredibly nervous as he scanned the area around him for shadows. His mother's summon dragon did something like what she just explained, and he got on the dragon's bad side once. One burn wound and a trip to the healer later, Hollis knew better than to mess with shadows. "Could you, by chance, help me out of the forest then?" His voice was shaky. "I'll go on an adventure later with my parents."

"I seeā¦" She was attempting to keep herself calm, to keep the tears away as a small flinch came to her being. Quickly settling herself with a soft breath and sigh, she kept an odd leather journal upon her hands, petting the spine with the hand that held in in a way to calm herself down. "But then, shouldnāt you be home where itās safe instead of where monsters can get you?"Ā
"I'm on an adventure!" He proclaimed excitedly. "I don't know where I'm going, but I'll know it when I get there." He said, rocking back and forth on his feet. There was a bit of doubt in his mind and what she had said. "But, out of nothing but curiosity," He began, trying to mask the fear that was within him. "what kind of monsters are you talking about?"
"I-Iā What?" The dragoness shifted in unsteadiness as she spoke with surprise and a bit of sadness.Ā
"Yep! Mom has hair exactly like yours, and your faces look similar." The child replied, folding his arms behind his back and smiling up at the woman. "You're pretty like Mom too!"
fallendragoness started following you.
"You look like my mother!"
"I donāt know if mom would know, since she doesnāt really cook a lotā¦Oh! I could ask dad. But, you know, Iād be really sneaky about it so he didnāt knowĀ whyĀ I was asking.ā
"You are the sneaky one because of all the pranks you pull, but I'm sure that the recipe isn't that difficult! We couldn't ask Mom to help us though. She'd probably burn it. Maybe we could get some of Dad's friends to help us if it does end up being too difficult."

"Yeah, thatās a good plan! What should we do though? Hmmmā¦youāre the smartypants so you should come up with something!"
"We could make him food. Dad seems to eat a lot, and he enjoys doing so. I've heard Sophie talk about crablettes, but I can't remember his favorite food. Mom would probably know."
"Happy fatherās day to all of the dads! I hope my dad has a good oneā¦Iāll have to think of something really special to do for him."
"We should do something together! Together we could create the biggest and bestest father's day gift ever!"
