A Passion That Burns

ok, so I think I might have needlessly freaked some people out with my post last night, and I apologize for that. But I've been thinking it over for a while now, I've tried so many times to shake things up on this blog, and nothing seems to sufficiently shake it, you know? So I have decided to follow through with my decision to turn blisteringwaltz into an archive.

I'm not leaving tumblr, though, and I'm not abandoning this muse. I could never do that, I love Malik too dearly and I've made too many wonderful friends here I could never leave behind. I just want a clean slate. A new blog is already in the works, and I'm going to go ahead and start following people on it. For personal reasons though, for right now I will not be posting the link here or really advertising it. I might get to a point where I am ready for that eventually, but for now I'm going to take it slow.

I do intend for the most part to continue threads I already have going, because I'm tired of dropping things and letting people down which I've done so much of lately. The exception will be, of course, if my partners would prefer not to continue a thread under these circumstances, of which I am totally understanding.

My muse just did something stupid that almost got them killed. Yell at them.

The monster had been right behind her, ready to attack. She hadn't seen it, he'd been left with almost no time to react, what the hell else, was he supposed to do? He wasn't about to stand there and let Rose get hurt. Thoughts of his own safety had been secondary.

It could have been worse, anyway. In pushing her out of the way he'd gotten himself mostly out of the monsters path as well, so the wounds weren't anywhere fatal. He'd be feeling them for a while, but the alternative, what would have happened had he stood there and done nothing at all, was too much to even think about.

He was tired and hurt. Relieved that she was unharmed, more than words could even say, and yet her angry words were making his own blood boil as well. Didn't she understand? How scared he'd been in that moment? There was nothing stupid about his decision.

"What then, I was supposed to just let you get mauled?" He shot back bitingly. He was beginning to shake, whether from blood loss or from the turbulent emotions the very thought of such a thing happening aroused in him. "Do you think that would have been better?"

It had been a foolish decision, Malik had realized that much right from the beginning. But the monsters had been swarming, too many people stood to get hurt, and the risk to his own life was worth protecting others, as far as he was concerned.

He had not been expecting such a caustic reaction from King Richard, to say the least.

Throughout the young king’s words, and for a few lingering seconds after he had finished, Malik was simply too stunned to speak. Richard had never spoken to him so harshly, even as the former captain had betrayed him, opposed him, fought against him. But more than the anger behind the words, it was the words themselves that had Malik truly shocked.

He supposed it was true what they say, that we are often the hardest on those people we care about the most.

A small smile flitted its way across his face, beleaguered breath escaping his lips. “I apologize for worrying you, Your Majesty. I promise not to act so recklessly again.”
