I feel like I haven’t seen anyone talk about the parallels between the Baratie Arc and Thriller Bark Arc when it comes to Sanji’s views on others’ dreams verses his own dream.
In Baratie, Sanji tells Zoro to give up on his dream and live because that is what he has been doing for his own. He has always placed himself and his dream as lesser compared to others and what he owes them.
Throughout the show, he learns the importance of dreams especially those of his crew mates. He stands by their dreams and their importance. I love how we see him start to support his crew mates more as he learns what each of their dreams are. You can see how much the Don Krieg fight helped change his point of view.
When we get to Thriller Bark, Zoro is willing to give up his dream and die in place of his captain and crew. I love that in this moment Sanji interrupts Zoro, specifically saying “what about your dream?” Telling him that he needs to live to fulfill his dream (the exact opposite of his views at the Baratie) but Sanji still puts his own dream beneath others. He, instead, offers himself in place of Zoro because while he has come to understand the importance of the others reaching their dreams, he still is willing to give up his own for others to live.
✨ One Piece Timeskip Redesigns! ✨
My last art of 2020 went off with a bang! I’ve been working on these for a while and they’re finally ready to share. I thought it might be fun to concept designs for the crew with more influence from the islands they were sent to! They ended up a lil costume-y, but I like that too.
Read below for flavour text/design notes or just enjoy the art!

I was looking at old art to see how much I’ve improved, and reflected on how far I’ve come from when I had the phase of only drawing one eye… then I realize that I have primarily been drawing Sanji recently…. Who is always covering one eye…

sorry but once you notice how often ppl use a southern accent as shorthand for being unintelligent you can never unsee it. classism is baked so deeply and why are you acting like anyone who talks the way my grandfather talks is stupid.
Oooo I've had thoughts on this for a while. I grew up in Mississippi and went to college out west. I didn't even really have an accent, just on a few words here and there (and apparently when I got really mad or excited about something) but once some people learned I was from the South, they would treat me like I was stupid. I had a college professor say to my face in front of the whole class that I was from 'backwards hick country' when he found out I was from Mississippi.
Since then I feel like I've picked up more on the prevalent belief and stereotype that someone from the South (especially if they have an accent) is dumb.
Why does my accent and location within the United States dictate my intelligence when I have had the same education and learning opportunites as my peers from other states?
have you seen these pirates (alt version after the cut)
The bravest warrior of the sea
(for Nami and Sanji)
What if I just draw Sanji in Robin and Nami’s outfits, especially the ones that are fanservice-y.
reanimating sanji's eyecatcher in my style! animating is so fun actually ❤️❤️❤️

the man who is loved even by his ship
-Post Arlong Park- inspired by the folks over on the ZS Club discord who were talking about how weird Sanji would be having friends his age for the first time Ironically went from the youngest to the oldest in the group going from the Baratie -> Crew
