Full Moon Spell for Prosperity
This is a spell to draw prosperity into your life. It would be particularly effective to cast during the full moon this Thursday, as Thursdays are good for spells affecting finances! You could also cast this spell at any time during the waxing moon.Ā
You will need:Ā
Your wallet
A new key that doesnāt open anything (I would recommend purchasing a gold-colored blank key from the hardware store)
Four green candles
Clear quartz (optional enhancement)
Vanilla incense (optional enhancement)
The Spell:Ā
Place the four green candles in a square around you so one is east, west, north, and south
Set your incense and quartz in front of you if you are using them, and light the incense
Light the three candles that are not in front of you
Read the following affirmation to yourself:
āI give myself permission to allow for financial security. I let go of any obstacles that block my path. I know you need not live a life of poverty to find spiritual fulfillment. I release any thoughts that make me feel unworthy of a prosperous lifestyle. May abundance and prosperity resonate to me starting this moment. And so it is.ā
Take your key and use it to carve on the side of the candle in front of you the wordĀ āProsperityā (you can use a sigil if you prefer)
Light the candle
Take the key and place it in your wallet
Recite the following:
āThe earth, the wind, the Sun, the sea; Put magick in this special key; My money growing with the Moon; Prosperity cometh and be here soon.ā
Conclude with any statement that signifies closure of the ceremony in your mind
Extinguish the candles

Tips on Grimoire Organization
Please note that if you are using a hard bound notebook or journal, adding in additional pages will bulk up your book, like so: (these are the exact same journals, btw)
- Envelopes. Letās say youāre doing a section on Tarot in your Grimoire, and you want to include a few Tarot spreads, but you donāt want to waste two or three pages. Glue an envelope onto one of your pages to make a āpocketā where you can store little cards or papers with the tarot spreads written on them.
- Pockets. Similar to the envelope idea. If you have a page, or section for example, on herbal teas, you can make a pocket out of a piece of paper to keep your current favorite tea recipes in.
- Dividers, Cover Pages and Ribbons. If youāre like me and you like to have āsectionsā in your grimoire, you can easily make dividers by gluing a sheet of paper in your book (to make it heavier to make the sections stand out more). You can go further by turning your divider into a cover page for that section. And if you donāt like the idea doing that, you can always glue a ribbon, or a string, to the spine of your book to act as a bookmark.
- Double pages. I always had a problem with āwastingā pages in my grimoire. For example, my page on consecrating and charging. These two concepts are very similar to me, and I didnāt want two page stating the same thing. So, what I did was write out all my information on charging on a separate sheet of paper, then glued the top of that page into my grimoire. This way I could flip up the page on charging (as if it were on a clipboard) and have my page on consecrating underneath.
- Extended pages. Similar to the one above. In my Crystal section of my Grimoire, I decided to write out a chart that let me search for crystals by intention. So I drew my chart on a long sheet of paper, then folded it over (side to side) so that it fit comfortably in my book, then I just glued one side down into the book.
- Brochures. In my Elements section, I had a ton of information I wanted to write down, but I didnāt want each element to have more than two pages. So I used a piece of computer paper and folded it into a brochure (or into thirds) and glued it into the book so that the flaps would open and give me double the space to write.
- Clear Tape. There are many times where i finished a page in my grimoire only to find out there was a section that I left out. A simply way to fix this was with clear tape. I would write my forgotten bit of into on a separate piece of paper and then use clear tape to tape one side of the paper to my page. This allows me to flip the paper back and forth without covering up anything that I had written.

Actually you know what. Just donāt mow. Get rid of your lawnmower. Turn your whole yard into a wildflower field or an edible garden. Lawns are the invention of the upper class to show wealth through wasted plots of grass that is meticulously tended for no reason other than to be grass. Itās literally an empty plot of land they kept because they had so much money they didnāt need it to grow food. Not using a yard as just a yard is an act of rebellion.
One of the main industries still supporting lawns is chemical pest control companies, and theyāre also responsible for the insecticides that crashed the bird populations in the 40s and 50s as well as a lot of whatās killing bees and butterflies now. The herbicides they produce specifically targetsĀ ābadā plants like dandelions, buttercups, and clovers, which are plants bees rely on for early spring feeding. Grass is just grass; it would be great for feeding small mammals if people would let it grow more than three inches, but they wonāt.
So, yeah. Kill lawnmower culture. Plant some native flowers. Grow some vegetables and fruit trees. Put out bird feeders and bee sugar spots and homes for both. Be kind to bugs and birds and rabbits and opossums and whoever else might wander by. Make your neighborhood a lot more beautiful.
I can be evicted for not mowing, so my alternative is to tear out the grass (itself an invasive species planted by the owner) and replace it with low growing native ground covers. In my area, that means certain species of white clover, and alpine strawberries.
Lawn tearing is a hugely involved project that has pressed my entire household to the limits of our disabilities, however.
For most people, the best choice is āoverseeding.ā
This is a technique wherein you acquire enough seed for the replacement ground cover to do the entire space 2-3 times, and seed the lawn area thoroughly enough that the grass simply cannot compete with the sheer number of other plants.
To learn about local ground covers and flower mixes for your area, try contacting the farmers associations and agricultural boards nearby. FFA and the 4H are both happy to provide this info.
To buy the seed in large quantities, be prepared to shop from a farm supply chain. While flowers will usually need to be purchased from a garden supplier, ground covers such as clover and rye are best bought from the fallow field or grazing pasture sections of farmer supplies. This will ensure you get the large quantities needed for over seeding at the lowest possible price.
White clover in particular is native to give swaths of the US and Canada (please check your local area though), and for lawn replacement over seeding, you want 10lbs of seed per acre.
If you have pulled your lawn, you can get away with 5 lbs per acre.
Mix in a local wild flower collection with your cover clover and youāll have a flower field yard that is truly spectacular in short order.
If youāre not at risk of fines or eviction for having ground cover over 6 inches, then you can simply aerate your yard, throw down the flower seed, and let it go wild.
If you have the time and patience and energy, a more traditional lawn replacement- one more closely reassembling the neighbors lawn and garden rather than a wild lot - will be āxeriscapeā areas made with local species. Xeriscape is a style of yard designed to use no irrigation, while still remaining pretty, alive, fertile and active. Most tea and culinary herbs grow very well in xeriscapes, but fruits and vegetables tend not to get enough water to produce well.
If you have a way of irrigating, such as large rain barrels or a cistern, a high water table, a stream spring or pond on your property, or just regular and thorough soaking rain interspersed with strong sunlight and sun exposure, a fruit and vegetable garden is very rewarding as well, but it will require constant maintenance that your xeriscape or flower field will not.
If you get Heritage flowers that will reseed themselves, the flower field will require effectively no maintenance after planting. A xeriscape should be touched up every season, or thoroughly pruned and maintained once a year.
An edible garden, however, is an often daily commitment.
The easiest place to start is local berries. Whatever berries grow (or grew) wild in your area. Berry bushes are extremely low maintenance, but when they fruit, you should try to pick the fruit relatively quickly. Otherwise it will draw ants, flies, and other unpleasantries to your yard and, if the bushes are near the house, into your home too.
The next lowest intensity plants would be fruit trees and fruit vines. Again, these need to be determined by your climate. In Florida, for example, oranges and passionfruit are great choices. In Pennsylvania, apples and grapes will do better.
Run the vines along the property fence if you have one, or trellis them up a sun-facing wall of your home.
Fruit trees need full sun exposure, and have very individual planting requirements based on the age, type and size of the tree. The store where you purchase the tree will provide you with detailed information.
As for more traditional vegetable garden content, all of it will be more work and commitment than the fruits listed through here, but the easiest place to start is with vining vegetables such as cucumber and squash. Leafy greens, tomatoes and tomatillas are also very beginner friendly!
However, greens grow best in the cooler, dimmer early spring and late fall seasons.
Onions and potatoes that went to sprout in your kitchen will grow easily, but getting a good harvest from them is more tricky, so leave that until your second year when you are more confident in your skills. That said, potato and onion flowers are quite pretty, so feel free to let them grow!
If youāre interested in a good reference book for designing and dealing with an eating garden as a yard replacement, Half Acre Homestead is a hugely valuable book.
For xeriscapes, because they vary so hugely by location, youāll want to stick to local information sources : your local gardeners guild, the future farmers association, 4h, and the local agricultural oversight board. All of these people are hugely passionate about plants and the environment, and will be invaluable resources.
Additionally, they will know who has the best rotten hay and animal manure for mulching and composting.
This for longer than I meant it to, but hopefully it will help you get started on destroying lawn culture and getting more in touch with the local environmental community!

Blood Magic and Paradigms
As someone who uses blood magic on occasion, Iām really disappointed in the community for never mentioning, in all the wonderful, educational posts about blood magic, the impact different paradigms will have on said magic.
Iām going to preface this by saying I in no way encourage light-hearted use of blood magic, unless the method you use to acquire blood causes you no harm (ex. using menstrual blood, or randomly getting a nose bleed and collecting the blood). However, this is not a fear-mongering post. Iām not going to tell you to only use blood magic as a last resort. Why not?
Because this is a post about paradigms, and that makes all the difference.Ā
For anyone who hasnāt yet heard of paradigms, Iām afraid Iām horrible at defining things. So instead of giving you a definition Iām going to give you an example: There are two witches. One of them believes the Threefold Law will harm them if they curse. The other doesnāt believe in curse backlash. These are two different paradigms that effect how the witches view magic and the decisions they make.
The most common paradigm in relation to blood magic is surprisingly not that itās evil; we seemed to have evolved that far in the community. No, the most common paradigm in relation to blood magic is that blood is very powerful and therefore should be used sparingly in magic.
The problem is, not every user of blood magic believes that itās inherently powerful. The belief that blood is powerful comes from, of course, the fact that we need it to survive. But there are humans who donāt put much stock in the living world. Some magic users that work with death sometimes view the living world as a temporary home but not where they belong (I canāt believe I just quoted Carrie Underwood in a post about blood magic). There are those who view death as being significantly more important than live. And there are plenty of magic users who suffer from depression and just donāt feel their life is worth much. (I know some of you were probably hoping I would skip the topic of depression, but Iām afraid I canāt do this post justice without mentioning it; as someone who suffers from depression I understand the impact it can have on a personās paradigms, and it would be foolish of me to ignore it.)
(Side note: not all who work with death view death as being more important than life. Some do, some donāt. The same can be said for most other practices.)
While magic users who hold the above beliefs may still view blood as powerful, thereās always the chance that they donāt view it being as powerful as others, or they donāt believe itās powerful at all. Do these paradigms render blood useless? Absolutely not. We still need it to live. But it could potentially āweakenā itās magical potential.
Posts floating around about blood magic will have you believing that a drop of blood can summon demons from the darkest depths of hell, āso be sure youāre ready for the consequences before doing it!ā but thatās a paradigm. It may be the most popular paradigm, but that doesnāt change the fact that blood magic just wonāt work that way for all users.
Lemme give you a personal example:
I have a natural acceptance of death. I know itāll happen someday and when it does Iāll welcome it, because thatās where I belong. Because of this, I donāt really value blood in the life-saving way as much as most people do. Iāll donate blood whenever I can because I know it saves lives and blood is important (and necessary) for so many others, but for myself? If I end up in a hospital nearly dead due to blood loss donāt give me someone elses blood. That shit can be used on a child, or someone who values the living world more than myself.
Because of all this, I just donāt feel blood magic is as powerful for me as it is for others. I donāt feel one drop is going to bring hellish nightmares to my doorstep, nor do I believe there will be ānatural consequencesā for me using blood magic. I can do it as much or as little as I like. However, I do believe itās very personal. I use blood to consecrate objects or to bind them to myself. I use blood to dedicate myself to a practice or a deity. I may not think it is ādemon summoningā powerful, but I still feel itās very useful for personal magical connections. And itās powerful for those uses.
This is my paradigm. It effects the way I use my magic and the decisions I make, and I know I canāt be alone in this.
Which is the entire reason Iām making this post. I love the posts tumblr users are making about blood magic, but what I donāt love is the fear-mongering that often goes hand in hand with those posts. If you want to talk about how dangerous blood magic is, talk about how not to collect blood. Talk about how careless collection of blood can be harmful to someones health. Talk about things that are actually dangerous regardless of magical paradigms, because those are what people interested in blood magic need to read! They need to know they canāt just stick a needle wherever when they want to do blood magic. They need to know what areas on the body to avoid when collecting blood. They need to know about safety.
Leave the āblood magic is powerful and deadly!ā speeches at the door. Let them decide, based on their own paradigms, how dangerous (or not dangerous) blood magic is.
Personally, blood magic isnāt dangerous unless youāre not drawing it correctly (Iāve used lancets/diabetes equipment) or youāre using it with an intent that could hurt you. (for example, using it to make a promise, or contract⦠but like any contract, not keeping it or making bad terms will come back to haunt you anyway.)
I think blood is powerful, because I believe the blood contains small amounts of stored, unrefined energy and contains binding properties due to containing my DNA and personal energy. However it still isnāt dangerous without the right intent. But I donāt think itās going to attract anything more than doing other types of magic. Iām sure even doing āregularā spells can attract demons. Since you can bind yourself to someone or something via other means and plus, blood is blood. If youāre using it to bind yourself to something, since itās connected to some idea of flesh, it only lasts so long. The flesh does not mean the collection of a soul.
Now, Iām also sure it COULD attract spirits who like the energy it holds. But this will happen to anything, magic item or not.
Basically, for me, blood can be more like a container for/of energy made of my body (or what used to be part of it, after itās drawn). When I draw it and use it, Iām using what the container holds⦠in terms of using it for a normal spell, you can draw the energy, from what ever youāve collected to execute it.
However, my blood as a former part of me also contains my energy and cells. So I believe thereās power in the fact that itās contains that and my DNA and I feel it sort of is like placing a personal signature⦠I also believe, that blood shows sincerity and legitimacy in this, because thereās no lying or hiding. In terms of binding, the DNA helps provide the connection and signature with the intent of doing so to you⦠however, again, not exactly dangerous unless made so⦠I just think of it as signing something with your name.
I personally donāt associate blood much with life or death either, because I donāt define my state of living solely on the whether or not my body is living or dead. Yeah I need blood to live, but I can also spare some, and yeah, it contains my energy, but so does every other magic/energy work I do. My blood, as soon as it leaves my body is more of an object or tool the only thing that ever really lasts with blood, is the energy, blood is cells and fluid, it decays. And then even so, energy dissipates over time. Blood magic isnāt permanent, nothing is. :/
I think I explained this horribly and I donāt use blood magic often⦠so over time my feelings on this could changeā¦
⦠what Iām trying to say is⦠itās powerful⦠but only sort of⦠it another tool⦠hair also has binding properties, as done anything else on the body (but they ALSO decay/lose potency) I think some of the fear is from the thought of accidentally binding oneself to something they canāt undo. And since nothing lasts forever, to me after everything has gone, the spellās powerfullness only corresponds to how powerful you make it, believe it, or how much emphasis you put on the spellās ālifeā or the promisesā current legitimacy after itās completely dissipated.
Even with blood spells, not being ever lasting (but may last longer), Ā I think itās still possible to undo them⦠so again⦠not exactly dangerous, or rather less dangerous than anything else.
again⦠bad explanation (sorry)⦠donāt mind meā¦
No, you explained yourself perfectly! I love hearing how others feel about blood magic and what they use it for :D
How to not drown in witchcraft
no, this isnāt a survival guide on how to avoid a 17th century ducking stool. Rather, some harsh truths Iāve had to face over the last 17 years.
Youāre not special Youāre unique; just like everyone else. No witch is more powerful than any other; no witch is of a more ancient lineage than you. If you ever come across someone who claims to be an all powerful being or consistently needs to re-affirm a power play to make themselves appear superior to you: runaway! Trust me when I say that Luciferās most valued lieutenant is not sitting on a couch in South Dakota, watching Netflix in their pyjamaās whilst DMing you on social media. When you come across people who make fantastical and dangerous claims like this cut off all contact immediately; and no you donāt owe them an explanation because theyāre not in a sound place to receive that explanation in the first place. Your spiritual safety comes first.
Youāre never going to be an expert You will never know everything about witchcraft, and you will never stop learning about witchcraft. Whatās more, itās perfectly okay to not know everything. Witchcraft should empower you to find your own path and journey, realistically thereās no way that journey is going to contain every ounce of knowledge and experience that witchcraft can provide.
Itās ok to walk away Witchcraft is the practice; witch is the identity. No one can rob you of your identity or how you visualize yourself, so if you need to take a break from witchcraft whether it be a week or a year, know that youāre still a witch for as long as you wish to identify as one. Witchcraft has existed for thousands of years, itās not going to vanish just because you stop practicing candle magic for a few months.
Beware of those who mentor you Whether youāre in a one-on-one situation or in a coven always be aware that not everyoneās intentions are pure. If youāre in a coven or learning situation where someone constantly affirms their authority over you, leave. āIām in chargeā, āthis is my covenā; these are big red flags, the goal of any community or learning situation is to facilitate the growth and nurturing of others. Covens should always be egalitarian, with opportunities for leadership and spiritual roles consistently provided. A person whoās agreed to teach you a skill or field of information should be perfectly comfortable if or when you excel them. Ask yourself does this person/group want me to be the best I can be?
The experience danger zone At some point you will become an insufferable know-it-all, usually this occurs when someone has been practicing for 3-5 years. This is a danger zone because whilst yes youāve been practicing long enough to have a decent knowledge base and youāve probably carved out a path for yourself, reality is youāre still a baby witch. That hurts I know, and Iāve had it said to me at the time and it made me angry, but itās 100% true. In all honesty 5 years is nothing when you consider what can occur in a lifetime. Does this mean you have nothing to contribute? Fuck no! You have everything to contribute as someone whoās living the experience of witchcraft; you are vital to the community, you need to be heard. But, be aware of the ego trap you can so easily fall into during this time; it happens to everyone, and all you need to be mindful of are your intentions and motivations towards others.
Your path is your own This is so vital to maintaining a long-term practice. Reaching a place of understanding where you can walk your own way without validation of others or inflicting impunity upon those you disagree with. The witchcraft community is currently experiencing a renaissance, thereās a new generation of witches coming through and their opinions and ideologies are clashing with the old vanguard. So hereās the reality check we all need, that Wiccan lady at the crystal shop whoās been practicing since the 1960ās is never going to stop saying āBlessed Beā, and that high school kid who hides curse jars under their favourite tree is not going to meditate away their anger and commune with the Goddess. So whereās the balance? We have to accept responsibility for own journey and actions. By all means we need to fight to shut down racism, homophobia, appropriation and misinformation that are rampant in our community, burn that shit to the ground! But we also need to learn to forgive people when they need it and make genuine efforts to deserve it. A community is not a community if you want to go to war with everyone whoās different to you.
~10 Kinds Of Magical Books~
1. Book Of Shadows- A witchās book of spells, rituals, personal feelings, etc. It is a general book for any metaphysical or religious information that you wish to put into it, among other things.
2.Bestiary- A sometimes hand-written encyclopedia or manual of mythological and magical creatures and beings, used for reference when you want to work with a non-human energy, or for general research.Ā
3.Grimoire- Usually filled with tables and charts, lists relating to astrological, numerical, and color correspondences; properties of crystals, herbs, trees, etc. Contains moon phase meanings and medicinal properties of plants- This one has an old-timey textbook feel to it, usually.
4.Book Of Mirrors- a special journal, where youĀ āreflectā on things going on in your day to day life, providing deep insights which are invaluable when youāre doing work regarding personal growth. Very helpful with developing personal spiritual philosophies.
5.Book Of Moons- A book entirely relating to the moon and itās cycles, names of the moons of each month, their attributes and energies, dates of lunar eclipses as well as full moon dates of upcoming moons. Filled with vast knowledge of lunar attributes and special dates of red moons, blue moons, etc.
6.Dream Journal- Here you record the dreams you have in as much detail as you can remember, and some people draw images from their dream adventures in this book as well, since dreams use the language of symbolism and imagery. You interpret the meanings of your dreams in here too, if you wish. Dreams can help us get a glimpse into our subconscious and the more dreams you write the easier it becomes for you to remember them.
7. Book of Visions- A vision book is used with the law of attraction, it is aĀ āvision boardā in book form. Put different images of things you want in life, be they experiences, physical items, money, health, etc, in the pages of the book. Open the book up to pictures of what you want to visualize having. Think of this as an on-the-go vision board, except with much more space as there are so many pages!
8.Book Of Positive Aspects- At the top of each page you write the name of a topic that you are unhappy with, likeĀ āthe workplaceā Ā for example. Below the topic title you begin listing all the positive aspects of the subject, and by the end of your list your emotions will be in a much better place regarding the topic. You can do a list a day or many in one sitting, it is a valuable tool for cultivating positive energy or for switching viewpoints on things that normally would upset you.
9.Gratitude Journal- A book where you write about EVERYTHING you are thankful and appreciative for in your life right now. You feel overwhelmed with love and positivity when writing in this book, which aids you in raising your vibration and frequency.
10. Book Of Intuitions- a psychic journal, itās a book where all divination and psychic exercises are recorded, ranging from full tarot spreads, to tea leaf readings, even psychic impressions you pick up off people. Itās handy for tracking progress as well as for record keeping.

(I feel like this one deserves a bit of a reason. As someone who deals with trauma-related paranoia, such as being afraid of people behind me, jumping at being touched and fearing close freindships, I wanted to give the person who caused the trauma a lilā taste of what its like.)
This one is suprisingly simple!
You will need:
Two humanoid poppets (One to represent the target and one to represent you)
A paper mask (the size of your poppetās head)
A box.
Take the Targetās poppet and place it in the box.
āYou are afraid.ā
Place the paper mask on your poppet. āI am not.ā
Place your poppet in the box.
āRegards.ā
Close the box and seal it shut, you want it to be dark in there, you want the target to be afraid, let them feel afraid, let them constantly look over their shoulder. Make them scared of you.
Place the box out of sight and let it run for as long a you feel necessary.
