Systems are not random.Â
The traits your alters have are not randomly assigned or drawn out of a hat.
Even self-chosen traits have reasons behind them. We arenât just rolling dice to decide who we are.Â
Fears and phobias didnât come from thin air and persecutors arenât being harmful because they are inherently evil.Â
Just like every person is shaped by their life experience, every system is shaped by their life experience.Â
Understanding why your system is the way it is can help all of you have more compassion for each other.Â
Without understanding we tend to see peopleâs behavior as just a function of who they are and be less forgiving when they make mistakes. E.g. âWell they are just evil. Thatâs what they do. Theyâre always hurting people. I canât forgive them. âÂ
With understanding we tend to see peopleâs behavior as a function of circumstances and we tend to be more forgiving and understanding when they make mistakes. E.g. âI can see how that situation triggered their protective instincts and caused them to lash out. The way they handled it wasnât okay, but they were reacting from a place of trauma and I will be patient with them while they work on this.âÂ
It is okay to not know why your system is the way that it is.Â
Itâs okay to not know why a persecutor is so angry, or why each alter formed.Â
Itâs okay to feel that your system isnât ready to start exploring these things.Â
Being dissociated means that many of these things are hidden from you, and maybe they are hidden from you for good reason. It could take years for you to feel okay about exploring these things and you will probably need a therapist to guide you through it.Â
Itâs okay to not know.Â
But I donât think itâs okay to say that itâs just random and that there is no meaning.Â
I know that I am not random.Â
Oh no⌠I saw a wiggly worm on the pavement and it looked sad and so I said âoh no, mister worm, you are in a very sorry state⌠back into the thicket with you!â and I gently put it back into the grass, and then I turned around and there was a TEENAGER LAUGHING AT ME⌠why are The Youth so cruel

how can ppl say cats dont have feelings like.Â
when my cat got deadly sick she refused to eat a single thing and it had been days but when i started crying she ate just a little bit, and upon seeing how happy it made me, kept doing it whenever she could.
now whenever im sad or crying she finds wherever i am with a mouthful of food and eats the pieces one by one, every time looking up at me making sure i was watching her eat it all because she knew it made me happy. and it DOES make me happy
i love cats!!!Â
im so glad my little Foofy has touched everyoneâs hearts⌠she luvs you all

Coping mechanisms for paranoia
Paranoid at night?
Here are coping skills Iâve found
Play a TV or a YouTube video on your phone. Background noise of people talking helps. I listen to Good Mythical Morning.
I know you may love horror shows, but it isnât worth it.
Have a friend? Call them. Stay on the phone overnight. Mobile sleepover.
Or legit sleepover.
Dark bother you? Live near city lights? Put some closed blinds on your window and leave the curtains partially open. Enough light may filter in to look like dawn.
Itâs okay to leave the lights on sometimes.
Pets help. Not a dog if you canât leave your house at night.
Itâs totally okay to check closets, under the bed, behind the shower curtain, etc. If it helps, do it.
!!!See-through shower curtains!!!
Mindspace is super helpful and I think they have a free trial!

*writes I LIKE GIRLS on every other page of my journals so future historians donât try to insist that Iâm straightâ
Future straight Historians: âwe see several examples of her prioritizing a sisterly bond with the women around her, for example on page 12 she says âI like girlsâ and throughout the text she references loving women and preferring their company. This is not to say she prioritized above her romantic relationships because on page 78 she mentions talking to a man one time in her life. Itâs hard to know just how much she valued her sisterly bond with women due to this one reference of men and the ambiguity of early 21st century slang. For example on page 12 when she said she liked women, the passage continues ââŚin a lesbian way. I want to kiss girls, they are so pretty, Iâm so gay.â Now itâs difficult to understand just what that sentence means. We know that in the early 21st century kissing on the cheek in greeting had gone out of vogue but the word gay, a word with an archaic meaning of happiness gives the contextual clues that perhaps she is references that old fashioned practice.
Going back to the nameless man that is mentioned once on page 78 for one sentanceâŚâ
âNow, given that she wrote on page 12, âJust to be clear: Iâm sexually and romantically attracted to women exclusively,â one may be tempted to read this literally, but we canât rule out sarcasm.â
It may seem like @vilesbian is joking, but she really isnât.Â
a dear friend once told me âall lesbians have to share one brain cell, and it goes to the person who needs it the mostâ. she then promptly stuck a metal bowl in the microwave and busted her knee open on the kitchen tile when the resulting explosion startled her so im gonna go ahead and guess she wasnât the chosen lesbian at that particular moment
seriously though, when are people going to start paying me to write callout posts
The implication that law school covers kin drama is really good

Hey, I havenât seen much promotion for Queer Eye season 3, I only just found out about it today, the day it was released. In the wake of the One Day at a Time cancellation nonsense, Iâm just gonna go ahead and suggest yaâll give Queer Eye a watch if you donât want it cancelled. I donât know if itâs in danger of being cancelled, but tbh I thought ODAAT was on solid ground until the announcement, and with Netflixâs track record, any show that stars 5 gay guys, two of whom arenât white, could be in trouble. ESPECIALLY when theyâre not even bothering to promote it.
Honestly, who knows what Netflix will do at this point?

when i was a little kid i got bullied on the playground so my mom asked me âwhat did jesus do when people were mean to him?â and i thought about it for a second and then started crying and screamed âhe DIEDâ
man why do people wanna be psychotic or schizophrenic or bipolar or schizoaffective so fucking bad like ⌠people i dont even know well have randomly told me about distant family members who have schizphrenia and how they âmight get it omg im so scaredâ, kinnies will put psychotic in their bio for edgy points, its so aestheticized and yet every single memory i have related to my delusions or hallucinations or mania is so like ⌠intertwined with trauma and physical and emotional abuse and sadness. like ⌠people will JUMP at the chance to say they have sleep induced psychosis or reblog Funnie Memes about hallucinations like shut the fuck UP for real⌠mentally ill people who arent psychotic or clustered will literally just lump the ableism and stigma that is specific to US in with their trauma while also brushing us to the side. stop thinking psychosis is trendy or edgy or a label you can steal to excuse ur shit behaviour shut up
Itâs already scary enough having a psychotic disorder or bipolar disorder, because you never know when your own brain is gonna turn on you. you slip up with your meds and next thing you know, your life is in pieces at your feet. But itâs also scary knowing that other people are afraid of you because of your diagnosis, and that that fear translates to hatred and violence.
The moment I was diagnosed, my credibility was shot, every time I expressed any emotion in the hospital my bodily autonomy was violated with tranquilizers, restraints, solitary confinement, and physical assault (thatâs how I find out that hospitals have cops, and cops are cool with hurting anorexic teenagers đ).
People with âscaryâ disorders are treated like rabid animals, especially poc like me. People literally do not think of us as humans with the right to make decisions. Every time we are harmed by the medical or prison systems, itâs âfor our own good.â I donât know where the idea that itâs cool and edgy came from, but I resent it so much. the material reality of people with highly stigmatized disorders is fucking abysmal. And so-called mental health advocates, for the most part, do NOTHING to address this stigma or amplify the voices of people with anything less common than generalized anxiety or depression. Off the top of my head, the only public figures I can think of that have really addressed this was Carrie Fisher (rest in peace, princess).
