Intro Time!

Hi! I’m Rowan. I’m 18, genderqueer, and use he/they pronouns.

Music wise, it’s a little all over the place, though I wouldn’t quite say I “listen to everything.” In no particular order, and trying to go off of what I can think of off the top of my head we have:

Hey, as a fellow bisexual, I feel like it’s all in good fun and not actually that big of a deal. First of all, there’s not really a slur just for bisexuals, and all four of those are slurs. That’s the whole point. Secondly, bisexuals are included in queers.

a lot of people on tumblr are complaining about how dragon riding is unethical and dragons shouldn't be forced to take human riders. dragon riders are responding to this with videos of them going into their dragon's living space and doing nothing as their dragon eagerly and happily shimmies into its harness and comes over to bother them until they saddle it

a professional dragon handler makes the point that you really can't compel a dragon to do something she doesn't want to do because she'll just hospitalize you if you treat her like shit. she also breaks down a bunch of dragon body language in some of the videos the riders are posting: "look at the way her pupils dilate and she taps her claws on the ground when she sees that cargo container. that is the happiest fucking dragon i have ever seen. she wants to work so bad and you all sound insane saying she hates it"

someone says they wish they could ask the dragons what they thought about it. many dragons make the point that they're on tumblr, you can ask them, and they enjoy it. most of them are good friends with their riders, and op was an asshole for saying that btw

getting scambot messages from random accounts that clearly used to be normal active blogs is sad enough. you know that there used to be a real person on that blog until they were tricked into handing their password to the digital fae.

but it's an entirely new level of tragic when somebody you've actually spoken to gets turned into a bot account. it's like peeking at a zombie apocalypse through the window and realizing one of the shambling corpses was your friend.

and then the zombie catches sight of you, lurches up to your window, and shouts through the glass that they accidentally reported your account to tumblr and you'll be deactivated unless you click this link.

RIP to the blog that used to DM me to tell me they liked my new chapters. Their last known words spoken before being turned, 17 hours ago: "Ggs!" They were praising someone's deadlift.

the message they tried to get me with is probably the same message that got them, so for anybody who hasn't already been warned about the signs of a zombie account:

if you get something like this ↑ they're gonna follow up by instructing you to contact tumblr support on discord and give you contact info; or they're gonna link a website that looks sort of like tumblr support and say you have to email them; or any variety of "you must now contact tumblr, here is how you contact tumblr."

whatever they send you, it Does Not lead to tumblr. it leads to the master zombie that bit them and inducted them into the ranks of the undead, and will bite you the second they have your email and password. i might be confusing zombies and vampires. anyway,

it's easier to fall for these messages because the blog doesn't LOOK like a bot blog, because it ISN'T a bot blog. it's a normal person's blog that got accessed by a bot, meaning the blog's content CLEARLY looks like a real active user when you click on it. and yes—it might even be a blog you already know. sometimes bots like this go down a blog's DMs or reblogs and message people they've previously interacted with.

they got one of my treasured followers, and they can get you too. don't fall for their tricks. know the signs.

someone fired a bullet through our bathroom wall the other day when we were gone, which is scary (but probably accidental), but the weirdest part is that we can’t actually find the place where it entered from outside... the wall inside is fucked up and you can see the hole where it came through, but there is no corresponding entrance hole on the exterior of the house. somehow the outer paneling was undamaged.

I think the exterior of the house is asbestos siding which apparently hides bullet holes really well.

There’s also a dent on the opposite wall where the bullet bounced off, and it looks like it had a really bizarre trajectory. Anyway, the neighbors say it was from a car chase where bullets went flying everywhere, so I’m not actually worried beyond “wow hope that doesn’t happen near me again”.

These pescatarian birds are directly exposed to PFAS contamination due to the island's position near the St. Lawrence Seaway.

Over fifty years of data show a peak in PFAS (also known as "forever chemicals") content in seabird eggs in the 90s, followed by a decrease as regulations went into effect. The most recent findings show a 70% decrease of most common PFAS.

While continued vigilance a regulation is needed, this data indicates that regulations are working to reduce PFAS concentrations in marine ecosystems.

Yes!!!! I did a review of literature on PFASs in human drinking water about half a year ago, and there is a lot of really good progress! Please celebrate this, please don't let this solution be forgotten (at least so quickly) as the ozone layer or acid rain.

We are making genuine progress! Producers are dramatically altering how much they use PFAS and how much gets released in effluent, but also there's a lot better understanding of how to remove PFAS from the environment!

Environmental problems CAN BE SOLVED.
