But anyways. Shaw and Talloran as a pairing is definitely one of those interesting pairings that could have such a complex dynamic. Especially since both of them have gone through Fucked Up Shit [tm]. Their grip on reality and inability to properly conceptualize what a proper, healthy and emotionally stable relationship (relationship in any regard. Platonic, romantic, etc.) Could be like after their extensive lifetimes of not having those could definitely come into play. Could definitely be some angst potential as well.
I read a bunch of Talloran's tales (again) the other day, and I do enjoy how even once they're able to break free from 3999, theres really no way to ever be the person you once were. They're a hollow shell of who they were three million years ago, or to their coworkers, who they were three months ago before they were transferred.
I think Shaw would be a similar situation. Opposite sides of the same coin, in a way. His soul is trapped in the amulet, and while Talloran /did/, in most canons, actually succeed in being able to kill 3999 via sacrificing themself. Shaw can't do that. Shaw /can't/ kill himself to free himself from that fate like they did. Thats what makes them different.
Like I said before, they both have very scattered views on reality. Talloran will /never/ be able to see reality as it was before. Shaw will never be able to return to civilian life the way he had before, and neither can Talloran. Both of them are constantly stuck in this never-ending cycle of "is this really how things are meant to be? Is this really what everything comes down to?"
In a way, I'm sure they can be grounding for each other. They can relate to each other in ways that Draven can't relate to Talloran on. They both, in their own individual ways are also immortal. (Talloran not so much anymore, but there was a time.) However, this would only ever be able to happen after many many many. Many a months, if not years, dealing with both of their emotionally constipated asses and never being able to actually talk to each other about their feelings. Because they both refuse to be vulnerable with anyone.
GAH, finally someone who understands the ship! I shared this ship with a friend before i made any fanart of it, and they just didn't get it. I was starting to get worried nobody but me saw the potential of these 2 as a ship. I'd love to make more content of these 2, and I probably will, because Draven needs to be cucked
