Belonging, longing for that, so why does it feel wrong

Pre-Nostalgia

It’s a relatively good feeling, knowing in your heart that there is so much more to come from life. Change is coming-I’m knocking on its door. It feels like it can’t get here soon enough.

Just finished Disney’s Soul. This is a movie I believe everyone needs to see. 

I’ll start with the spiritual aspects of the film, which are incredibly prominent. Pixar represented the 4D entities incredibly well, even classifying them as “only represented this way because it’s the only way humans can understand”. Additionally, the message of the movie is incredibly profound. I’m not spoiling anything at all, but man did I get chills. I was brought to tears more than once. 

I love the message that life should be truly enjoyed because we’re only here for a limited amount of time. It can often seem that our lifetime is “forever”, but in reality we are only human for a short time. Under a hundred years, while the Earth will continue for billions more. We get so caught up in the little things that we forget to truly live. As someone pursuing a spiritual journey, these are realizations that I’ve found through practices like sun gazing, meditation, among other things. Soul manages to encompass this complete realization in a film. Incredibly well done, Soul is a very deep film that doesn’t require immense understanding of the nature of life to get, but it is a heavy subject.

I also love the humor in the movie. Fucking hilarious.

Also incredibly sad and moving in some parts. God this movie was an emotional rollercoaster.

Anyone can watch this and enjoy. It also helps people see that life isn’t so cut and dry. We’re here to enjoy the Earth, no other reason. 

9/10 for the sole reason that the animation in the beginning of the film felt almost lazy and robotic, and the end felt a little rushed to be completely honest, but it’s a Disney movie so that’s understandable. The rest of the film is absolutely perfect.

Just finished The Secret History. I have to say, one of my favorite novels ever. I really never knew anything about dark academia, or that it even existed so thanks for that Donna. It’s really hilarious how every single character offers a quality so great you just want to immerse yourself in them. I think it’s an incredibly underrated read-I don’t even know how I found out about it, I just ordered it on Amazon because of the dope ass cover.

Richard was very bland to me-a character lacking quality or form, which was perfect for me. Just somebody coasting through life, the template of man. A blank slate. Really cool.

The way the book described Existential crises and realizations is absolutely phenomenal. I really can’t stress enough how much I loved this book.

The vibes-dark academia I guess-fucking awesome. Not to mention the bone-chilling realization I had that I really was fine with murder-and was on the side of characters during this whole process. I was sitting in the airport reading when I was like, holy fuck, how was I ever ok with this. That’s why I feel like it’s great that Richard is such a blank slate of a character-he IS the reader, basically from the outside looking in. All of his decision were that of the reader. Great book. If anyone wants to talk about it with me, let me know, I just finished it.

PS, as an aspiring screenwriter, this must be my first feature film. Fucking great.
