Just got a text from an activist org asking if I planned to attend a No Kings event on March 28th and asking me to RSVP.

Reminder: Do not RSVP; just show up.

I'm not saying the organization is untrustworthy. They likely want to know for planning purposes. But you don't want to put your name on a list/in a database.

I think a lot of us understand there's no guarantee law enforcement will respect the right to peacefully protest. When we go out, we know that even if our area's police don't usually show up, there is no guarantee they won't this time or that ICE agents won't show up. And we are willing to risk it because the dangers of being silent are so much worse. We want a better country for ourselves and future generations.

But you don't need to take more risks than necessary. A corrupt government can absolutely seize a list. Your presence at a protest is not less valuable because you didn't RSVP.
