thinking about how when I got back into swimming last October I was doing 1250m in 45 mins and now I can do 2k in that time 😮

#you don’t understand how happy I am I got back into swimming #did it semi competitively as a kid (just school comps) but stopped when I was like 11 mostly bc of my ED and body image issues #and then barely swam at all or got in a swimming costume for over a decade #(outside of my rowing swim and capsize tests lmao)#but I’ve always loved being in water and I adored swimming growing up #like I got rly into swimming especially after my mum died #ALAS #it’s actually super cool like I couldn’t run a continuous 5k until November and now I consistently run sub 30 min 5ks and my PB is 25 mins #when my initial goal was sub 28 liiiike. now even my most random 5ks are sub 28 #tbf I haven’t done great at increasing running mileage longest I’ve run is 9k but also I think it’s ok to just enjoy a distance lol #I had a phase of predominately running 7-8ks and I’ll def try and push to 10k bc that’s triathlon distance #but I don’t particularly enjoy running enough to want to do it for much longer than 30 minutes at a time 😆#ANYWAY #point of this is that both running and swimming are sports that I associated with my years of disordered eating growing up #it’s nice to rebuild my relationship with movement on my own terms #been lifting heavy weights for over 3 years now and that’s the foundation of everything. love that shit #next up is rebuilding my confidence in road cycling #I did competitive track cycling (DONT EVENNNN) for a couple years and it honestly made me not get back on a bike for .. well. over 5 years 😭#triathlon basically the manifestation of all my trauma sports of my preteen and teen years 😆😆😆#<- when I say track cycling I mean there’s a reason I know people in the grand cycling tours ygm 😭 bc they trained at the same velodrome …
