Detroit teachers stage โsickoutโ overย horrible conditions, force schools to close
Eighty-eight of Detroitโs 97 public schools were closed Wednesday when teachers participated in a districtwide โsickoutโ to push for demands related to school conditions and their rights as employees. The protests align with a very high profile visitor in Detroit.

Whatโs crazy is itโs been like this since I was a child and prolly even before that.. My mother is a DPS school teacher and ainโt much changed, if anything things have gotten worse. Sheโs been buying school supplies for her students for as long as I can remember.
ย And please look into the lawsuit against Detroit Public Schools in which the state position is โno fundamental right to literacy exists for Detroit schoolchildren.โ
The state is currently in court defending these conditions, as well as their right not give our children access to proper education.ย
I really wanted to be a teacher but their pay is horrible, and they arenโt treated fairly. Teachers should get pay wayyyy more than what they do
