My Arts and Crafts and Whatnot...

straight up learned how to book bind yesterday and i can’t stop. im actively destroying past journals and sewing them back up.

this barely 48-hour journey into book binding has been crazy realizing how much thread-based hobbies just intertwine and how easily supplies can substitute for one another. like, what do you mean i can use my yarn as thread for book binding and not have to get new thread. what do mean i don’t have to use an awl and instead i can use rlly sharp huge needles i use for knitting or crochet. as im writing this, im thinking of crocheting or knitting covers for my journals. probably gonna back them up w like felt at the back or smth but ITS EVEN MORE CRAZY THINKING I CAN COMBINE MY LOVE FOR FIBER ARTS AND NOW BOOK BINDING.

i’ve been in an art rut lately and been playing roblox “grow a garden” or reading fanfiction, but the craft of book binding has rlly helped me fall in love with the arts again.

it’s been rlly funny going through all my past sketchbooks to find paper to bind and seeing all kinds of crazy stuff like cupcakke fanart i made at the age of 9, or some rlly good nct fanart i did during quarantine and just be flooded w a bunch of memories (or completely forget why i drew something in the first place).

idk this all has been a rlly funny and fulfilling journey and i can’t wait to see where i go w it.
