Welcome to my kill-count. First some explanations:
- This is supposed to record all canon kills, so any time it was said in the podcast that someone died by someone or something else's hand, I wrote it down
- The Kill-Count includes disappearances, suicides that clearly have something to do with the haunting, indirect killings only if on purpose
- I didn't count any statement killings happening during the eyepocalypse, only ones that were happening outside the domains. I also counted memories of killings that happened before the eyepocalypse that were remembered during it (for example those of Emma Harvey)
- I put the episode in which the kill or encounter was mentioned or recorded in brackets.
- On the Distortion: because of the confusing nature of the Distortion's identity, I have elected to count merging with it as half a death and fully dying as a second half. It feels wrong to only count the eventual death as the only death because they're clearly not human anymore and it also feels wrong to count the merging as the only death because of all the "I am Michael, I am Helen" stuff. Which leaves me with the fun dilemma that Helen's eventual death at Jon's hands comes to 1.5 deaths, one for the Distortion itself and one half for Helen, and Helen herself has the lowest kill count with only 0.5 for Michael. Oh well.
- For the Catalogue of the Trapped Dead I only counted the first death except for Mary Keay. Fight me.
Let's start at the bottom. Of course Helen Richardson is in last place since she only killed the second half of Michael by merging with the Distortion and taking his place.
There are 47 people or things with only 1 kill, mostly from statements that never come up again, but it also prominently includes Agnes Montague, Gerard Keay, Adelard Dekker and Martin Blackwood
There are 17 people or things with a kill-count of 2, including Jane Prentiss, Jude Perry, Simon Fairchild, Tim Stoker and Basira Hussein
There are 8 people or things with a kill-count of 3, including Breekon and Hope, Nikola Orsinov and Mikaele Salesa
Kill-Count of 4:
- Arthur Nolan
- Dr. Margaret Tellison
- Tova MCHugh
Kill-Count of 5:
- The Night Tube
- Peter Lukas
- The Anglerfish
- NotThem
Kill-Count of 6:
- The Concrete Viper

Kill-Count of 13:
- Oliver Banks
- Grifter's Bone
Wow ok, no idea how I managed to get two of each of the last three and nothing in between. But now we're entering the singles so let's do a proper countdown.
Trevor Herbert
Kill-Count: 14

- Sebastian Adekoya (MAG 17, 1 kill)
- Hector Loredo (MAG 49, 1 kill)
- Harry Gough (MAG 49, 1 kill)
- clothing of roughly 14 people was found at the scene; since its unclear if that includes Hector Loredo, I’ll take one point off (MAG 49, 13 kills)
Small Paperback Book (from MAG 125 Civilian Casualties)
Kill-Count: 22
- Callum McKenzie, suicide unter influence of the book (MAG 125, 1 kill)

- „all sixteen other residents“ + librarian (MAG 125, 17 kills)

- Neil Lagorio (MAG 136, 1 kill)

The Book Of The Dead
Kill-Count: 83
- „almost twenty“ pages in Latin, I’m counting 18 (MAG 70, 18 kills)
- Old or Middle English slowly becoming legible, unclear how many, I’m counting only 10 to be safe (MAG 70, 10 kills)
- from Christopher in 1592 to 2003 = 411 years, „They were in chronological order, with what looked like five to ten years between each one“ so 411 years/7.5 years = about 55 deaths (MAG 70, 55 kills)
Widow's Weave Spider
Kill-Count: 100
- „almost a hundred“ + Dexter Banks, I’m counting 100 (MAG 110, 100 kills)
- the population of Bucoda; Wikipedia lists the population as 562 in 2010 (statement was 2008), but the statement says „I’d be surprised if there was more than five hundred people in total who called it home“ so I’m just counting 500 (MAG 97, 500 kills)
Alright, and now to the top 3.
John Amherst! 🥉
Kill-Count: 941
As a dedicated and ambitious man who walked battlefields, invaded care homes and killed a whole village, he surely deserves to stand on the winner's podium. His count might even be higher had we known how many people had already died in Ivy Meadows before the fire and added it to his count, but as it is, a deserved third place Mr. Amherst.
- Bertrand Miller (MAG 36, 1 kill)
- two men in the hospital (MAG 68, 2 kills)
- „Then he (Amherst) died, as did the man who came to bury him.“ (MAG 68, 1 kill)
- Adelard Dekker (MAG 157, 1 kill)
- the population of Klanxbüll Germany in August 2013; according to multiple sources it was around 936 in September 2013 (MAG 157, 936 kills)
Jonah Magnus! 🥈
Kill-Count: 1128
Of course the man who ended the world had to be up here, though what got him this far was not his successfull attempt, but his unsuccessfull one. Killing a whole prison full of inmates for one's own good and adding to that the countless other deaths this ruthless man has to answer for, definitely earned him the silver medal. Congratulations Mr. Magnus!
- Jane Prentiss (MAG 40, 1 kill)
- Jurgen Leitner (MAG 80, 1 kill)
- Gertrude Robinson (MAG 92, 1 kill)
- Albrecht von Closen (MAG 127, 1 kill)
- Elias Bouchard (MAG 158, 1 kill)
- James Wright (by association MAG 158, 1 kill)
- Millbank Prison had a capacity of 1120 and „none of the inmates survived“ (MAG 160, 1120 kills)
- Richard Mendelson (MAG 167, 1 kill)
- there has to have been at least one other host between Jonah Magnus and Richard Mendelson (no singular source, 1 kill)
And our one and only winner of the Kill-Count is...
The Nemesis! 🥇
Kill-Count: 1503
The underdog wins. Wow, what a surprise! Even I didn't see that coming until I read how many prisoners were housed in the North Point prison camp. And not only that, you have been active since the First Opium War, which is an impressive track record for a cursed war ship. Well done to you Ma'am and your crew. You may not even have come close to performing a successfull ritual, but you definitely performed the deadliest one. Congratulations to first place!
- the Japanese captors; „I counted dozens“ since the camp held more than a thousand prisoners, I’m going with 100 (MAG 137, 100 kills)
- the prisoners; ok, so. There were British, Indian and Canadian prisoners in that camp. The British and the Indians were transferred to Japan throughout mid- and late 1942 and the Canadians left on the 26th September. Gertrude only says the statement is from „late 1942“ and since it was taken at the Pu Songling Research Centre, I don’t know of which nationality the statement giver was. But the only concrete number I found is the 1404 Canadians that left on the 26th, so that’s what I’m going with, minus Wallis Turner of course (MAG 137, 1403 kills)
Kill-Count by Fear Entity
I also categorised my killers by which fear they were serving. This was supposed to be the reveal of the poll I did, but I worded it badly so people thought I was asking which entity is responsible for the most deaths and chose the End. Anyway, here is what I ended up with:
The Slaughter: 1544
The Eye: 1130
The Corruption: 947
The Buried: 512
The Web: 131
The End: 113
Non-Fear: 93
The Hunt: 33
The Flesh: 24
The Stranger: 19
The Spiral: 13
The Desolation: 12
The Extinction: 8
The Lonely: 8
The Dark: 7
The Vast: 4
This was a lot of fun and passed the time during several very boring classes at school. If you have any questions, please ask, this hyperfixation is as strong as ever and I'm always happy to talk about it.
