also people act like drag queens are incapable of changing how they act for kids. like do you really think things like storytime with drag queens has like, sex jokes and dildos? do you think drag artists are unable to treat children appropriately while in drag? like drag doesn’t always need to be safe for kids obviously but just because a drag artist does a sexual show for adults doesn’t mean that artist can’t also be kid-friendly during times they are around kids. drag artists are not some scary boogeyman that’s gonna traumatize your children by their sheer Aura of Queerness

People do indeed assume that (their child’s) teacher is a perfectly pure, cartoonishly kid-friendly person all the time, and throw Screaming Tantrum if they see Kid’s Teacher having a glass of wine at a restaurant, or wearing a bathing suit on the beach.

Educators get in trouble for doing reasonable adult things off the clock all the time. It’s a SERIOUS cultural problem

The idea that you should model your life after what brings YOU joy, rather than what society/people think should bring you joy, is an act of rebellion.

ah yes the ‘matriarchy’ of the american school system where a teacher’s labor is constantly degraded due to the association of teaching with motherhood, where men make up about half of administration roles (and the majority in middle/high schools) and are promoted on a glass escalator and make more than their female peers, and the vast amount of funds that go to male exclusive sports and facilities rather than to classrooms, teacher salaries, and arts programs

We need more aro representation in the media. We need someone to say the word aromantic and explain what it means without implying that they're a terrible human being. We need the people they come out to to not take pity on them. We need GOOD aromantic representation
