I just got a ride home from the gym from a 40-ish year old five foot tall white woman that I’ve never talked to before tonight.

She offered as she saw me leaving. I live literally across the street. Maybe a 5-10 minute walk.

I asked her why she wanted to give me a ride and she said “Because with what’s going on out there I don’t think it’s safe for you to talk alone in the dark.”

I’m a black male in my late 20s who is six feet 8 inches tall and is roughly 400 lbs. I’m a literal giant.

And she feared for my safety because of what she’s seen on the news all week.

Losing weight is hard

Changing your lifestyle or fitness levels is hard

You will make mistakes

You will learn a lot about yourself and those around you

Its OK and normal to be scared that you will fail - lets talk about it

Its OK to be honest about your fears - lets talk about it

Don’t be afraid to change your method or direction if its not working

Hey guys! I’m so so excited to announce that I’ve decided to start study groups. These are not just for studyblrs! Anyone who loves learning and helping others is free to join.

At the moment this project is very young, so it would be greatly appreciated if you could help spread the word by reblogging (and maybe even join a study group)!

Currently there are Skype study groups and Kik study groups.

It’s very easy to join, all you have to do is head on over to the study group blog, and fill out the form.

I really really need people who are experienced (or at least comfortable to help others) in the following courses:

This is NOT a huge commitment! It only requires a few hours (if that) out of your week. You are not tutoring people, just giving them a boost when they need it. It would be very helpful if you are offering help in a course you’re currently taking!

My current plan for this project is to receive the Kiks and/or Skypes of people and the courses they are asking for/offering help in, then pair them in groups of people who are in the same ‘boat’ as them.

If you have any ideas/suggestions, or would like to become a project member- please send me an ask!

I really hope this project does well and can help people out! I know for some, like me, it’s very hard to join actual study groups due to illness, online school, or other obstacles.
