Here are some options to try!

whispered / muttered / mumbled → soft or secretive

shouted / yelled / barked → anger, urgency

growled / hissed → danger, teasing, frustration

murmured / breathed → intimacy, vulnerability

snapped / barked / snapped back → irritation, defensiveness

laughed / chuckled / giggled → laughing, fun, playful or flirty

asked / questioned / queried / inquired → curiosity, questioning

demanded / insisted → authority or control

sighed / groaned → fatigue, exasperation, longing

When you're looking to replace said, think about why. You'll generally want to do this when you need the following:

when the tone of the line needs more context.

when you want to show emotion instead of telling it.

when your character’s body language, action, or expression can do the talking instead.

Take a look at the scene you're writing, is the character saying their line? Or are they yelling it? Screaming it? Are they enraged, or perhaps is their voice a broken whisper from grief?

embrace death.

And it's such an odd thing to be so certain and so condescending about because it's built almost entirely on assumptions. They might be perfectly reasonable assumptions, but they're assumptions nonetheless. The show hasn't established that Armand prefers Daniel as an older man over his younger self, nor that he's drawn to Daniel because of any of the traits people claim make him "like Marius." And even if he is, it certainly hasn't established that the reason is that those traits remind him of Marius. Hell, DM itself has barely been established, and the same goes for Marius as a character.

Armand’s zip-tying Daniel’s arms to the chair: palms up so the veins of his inner wrists are exposed, and another sharp zip tie at the interior bend of his elbow. Armand’s voice soft, “I could hold you with my mind, but I do not wish to be distracted. I shadowed a real flight attendant for two days, so I hope you are proud-” little snips as Armand cuts the zip tie’s excess. “Proud of my attention to detail.”

The monster smiles at Daniel’s expression, a slow-growing thing. Armand says, “You like how I look in uniform.”

“Stay outta my head.”

Armand’s eyes shiver back and forth, but all that happens is the big white screen for showing movies rolls down. The vampire clicks a little remote.

Daniel’s laughing, “You made a fucking PowerPoint?”
