”Transandrophobia isn’t real.” Well, okay. What do you call it when my best friend decided to unfriend me and her parents stopped trusting me not because I was trans, which I know because her other best friend is a trans woman and she and her parents love her a lot, but because I was a man specifically, because that meant I would turn out to be a predator one day? What do you call it when trans men are labeled as aggressive or dangerous because they’re on testosterone, and are thus seen as more manly by society and thus inherently more prone to violence? What do you call it when trans men are pushed out of lgbtq clubs and groups for being men, while other people with different trans identities are allowed to stay because they’re not men, and are thus safer to be around? No, I am not saying androphobia is a systemic issue. No, I am not saying it is nearly as dangerous as misogyny. I know that androphobia is not a systemic issue even close to misogyny. But denying its existence, claiming that the hatred trans men face doesn’t have a single thing to do with them being specifically men, is just wrong. I’ve lived this. Many people have. You need to learn to trust our experiences and listen to our voices. Because I’ve faced hatred for being a man. I’ve had people tell me to my face that they are man haters and hope all men die, including me because I’m a man. Don’t you fucking dare tell me that is not hatred due to being a man. Don’t you dare tell me that is not Transandrophobia
Being transmasculine is odd cus on one end of the spectrum everyone is telling you that you're privileged and evil and basically just a cis man (even if you're nonpassing), and on the other end you're watching your brothers being raped and murdered and buried under their dead names while being falsely listed as a femicide. (this faulty documention will be wielded as proof of your privilege)
if you genuinely believe that "afab" privilege is a real thing then you are not a feminist in the fucking slightest and that shouldn't even have to be said
Hey so you know how people always talk about transmasc erasure? Coming across that paper on Tumblr discourse on transandrophobia reminded me of something.
When I was doing my criminology degree, I went to several professors with several thesis ideas, and all of them were denied. These were all ideas based on transmasculine crime and victimology stats. Every professor shot down every thesis I had on ideas related to transmasc victims of various crimes.
Their reasoning? There's no need for this. This is useless. Nobody is interested in reading about trans men and transmascs being victims of crimes. They wouldn't even let me do my thesis on estimating more accurate stats on transmasculine victims of homicide. Which is an INCREDIBLY important thing!
So yeah. Next time someone talks about how trans men and transmascs aren't victims as much, remember this. Researchers don't want to research this. They won't allow people who want to do so, to do so. I couldn't get anyone to advise me on these papers.

Wow, I wonder why the group of people that don't identify as strictly women but have uteruses and have concerningly high sexual assault rates around the globe would want to be included in fights for abortion rights! But who cares, right? What's the point in fighting for such a small group? Why should we worry about excluding them in our language when there's just so little non binary people, transmascs and trans men out there! You know, because they're killing themselves and being killed and staying closeted and stealth so that they won't be killed. Because we aren't including them in our activism. But how is that our fault? Why would a trans man be upset that he's being called a women for needing abortion rights? It's literally the same thing as saying "not all men"! Ugh, men make everything about themselves. The 2 transmascs in the world are fine. Clearly.
“all these tmra’s—“ yeah i do think trans men deserve rights. Do you not?
tbh I think we should probably get a lot more comfortable outright calling transandrophobic behavior misogynistic when it’s misogynistic, even and especially when it comes from other trans people. And just making it clear that transandrophobia in general is largely rooted in misogyny. I get that it’s been downplayed partially bc it can make us dysphoric, but I think a bigger reason we’ve downplayed it is because it makes other trans people uncomfortable. But maybe their discomfort is not on us to fix or avoid. Why should we have to avoid talking about our reality just because it makes others uncomfortable? People AFAB are usually/often taught from birth to go the extra mile to avoid making others uncomfortable (which is, of course, misogyny). Maybe it would be good for us to stop doing that.
fake allies will treat a trans man like the most evil person in the world for simply being a man, and then get mad when he doesn't feel validated that he's being told he's fundamentally and irreversibly evil and irredeemable and heartless and cruel and there's nothing he can do to change it
You’d think the prevalence of “if men could get pregnant” and “men couldn’t deal with having periods” and stuff like it around that people would realize that trans men are not given male privilege because we are not seen societally as men so much so that even trans people use the word men to mean “perisex cis men”, and yet here we are.

Transmascs: A lot of us have vaginas and breasts and our health insurance can deny it for not being healthcare associated with men, which makes us have to disclose our AGAB or not being able to change the sex marker on our IDs. Transmascs suffer a lot of obstetric violence due to out gender, some even being denied abortions and prenatal care, or being forced to detransition if they want to carry a child. This means essentially we should consider a trans men genitals and decouple the idea that vaginal/uterine/breast care=women's care and to consider that physically, transmascs are different from cis men, therefore needing different care related to it.
People: why are trans men so bioessentialist???? Why they keep talking about having a vagina???? I bet it's because they're not really men.
your feminism needs to include trans men because their existence is rooted in women's rights to self expression. btw
If you see me say transandrophobe and immediately jump on the defence of trans women YOU are the one making the assumption that all trans women are transandrophobes, not me.
99% of trans women I have spoken to are lovely, kind-hearted people and in general a whole community should never be blamed for the fault of some. Transandrophobia doesn't inherintly come from only trans women anyway, cis people can be, and often are, the ones pushing these ideals. I've spoken to trans men who deny the idea that trans men can be oppressed!
"Do you want trans men to be treated like a different kind of men????" Hmmmm yea. They have uteruses and vaginas so they need different medical care. They also have high rates of sexual abuse and there's no laws in place of protecting trans men being physically abused. Like yea, we do need them to be treated like a different kind of men because they are a different kind of man.
Am I misgendering myself or am I just talking about my own body parts and healthcare situation surrounding them.
Am I misgendering myself or am I expressing a genuine fear I have of my body being used against my will to forcefully detransition me, (a worst-case scenario for some).
Am I claiming to be more woman than trans women or am I talking about my lived experiences.
The fact that you see what is being discussed as "women's only experiences" is you pointlessly gendering those things. You are the one who's doing the misgendering, not me. It is my identity, I'm the one who gets to decide what aligns with it or not.

the thing about "trans guys have it easier" is that when you look into it its really more of a folk myth than anything. people come up with all sorts of stories to explain this "fact." people will tell you that people seen as men are gender-policed much more harshly than people seen as women and every little deviation towards femininity is noticed and punished, and that's why trans guys have it easier. but you'll also hear people tell you that people seen as men have so much more wiggle room, men can be all kinds of sizes and shapes meanwhile people seen as women have to fit into this tiny little box, and that's why trans guys have it easier.
these are two entirely contradictory lines of logic, but they lead to the same conclusion. because the conclusion is the point. its a backformed theory of gender. people believe, for whatever reason, that "trans guys have it easier" is an objective fact, and then storytell an explanation for why that is that sounds right to them. and this isn't necessarily something that's done maliciously, which is key. its not about people twiddling their fingers and thinking about how to contribute to a massive conspiracy against transmascs. its about people just feeling, on a gut level, that trans guys must have it easier, by which they really mean, transmasculine suffering isn't socially visible, and it isn't natural for me to imagine it, therefore it must not exist; yet, trans suffering in general clearly exists, so there must be some reason that transmasculine suffering feels so abstract and immaterial to me and others.
this is why anti-transmasculinity theory is so important. all kinds of people come to this conclusion, and the best explanation for why this strange thing happens and why no one talks about it is anti-transmasculinity & erasure as a social force which people internalize.
oh look! something approaching actual thoughtful analysis on anti-transmasculinity from a popular transfeminist. i wonder if -
oh okay. oppression specific to trans men can manifest sometimes as them being thought of as childish deluded unserious and in need of correction. ANYWAY here's why these loony whiny corny stupid liberal tboys dont know what theyre talking about and need me to give them a Real Term to talk about their own oppression.
