LOL ok. so. first the brutal bit, as said in the previous ask. A solid 90% of what this fandom puts out for them is a disservice to both their characters. the fanon version is Stock Daddy Dom Mafia Boss x Dripping Wet Princess Peachboy, and i’m not remotely about it. fanon sukuna is the sort to barely even wipe his ass cos he thinks it’s gay, much less wear womens’ clothing and be happy about being in the body of a twink like CANONkuna is.
on to the actual ship. i shipped itsk basically from the word go. it reminded me of a lot of ships I’d enjoyed in the past even at the very start of the manga, and then grew as they interacted more and finally those last chapters sealed it as The Ship Of All Time for me.
what i love about them… where to start? the push/pull of their very natures. they symbolise mercy/compassion and destruction - and what’s so interesting is the way in which yuuji’s mercy is not always a good thing, and sukuna’s destruction could (in another life) have been used for the better — like a volcano erupting and leaving behind fertile soil, or a controlled wildfire being ecologically a necessary thing. while yuuji… a quick death can be a mercy. horrendous evils have been committed in the name of compassion.
i love how sukuna treats everyone else with amused apathy, but only yuuji receives that level of spitting vitriol. In return, yuuji isn’t actually particularly upset about how sukuna treats him personally — it’s just sukuna’s murderous actions that piss him off, not sukuna being a dick. sukuna is actually a very classic tsundere imo, which the fanon misses because they want sukuna to be a specific mould of character, but his actions really are him telling yuuji to his face that he’s a pathetic little worm, while in private he calls him “yorube”. he’s an anime girl going “i-it’s not like i like you, baka!!!!” to me, lol.
for yuuji’s part… fanon has him often as being the slightly oblivious recipient of sukuna’s obsession, but imo yuuji is the obsessive, yandere one here. he wants to atticwife sukuna, he wants to chain him to the radiator in his basement. i would write a whole page on this but i think this does the talking for me.
i like itasuku all ways - i like it romantic, i like it platonic but intensely freaky. i can like it soft in the hands of a good author (rare, sadly), but sukuna needs to be tenderised like tough meat first with one of those spiky hammers for it to be believable. even the fluffiest fluff should have teeth to it, for them.
to be loved means to be consumed. yuuji was literally created to devour sukuna, in all ways.
