I wish we had boarded up the windows, and continued to ignore the storm just outside.”

See also: being totally fine until reaching somewhere safe like your car, your house or your room. That also includes seeming totally fine to YOURSELF. The amount of times i’ve been like, oh wow that went better than expected then closed the door and lost my fucking shit while going “but i was fine????”…

also, relatedly, there’s this idea that panic attacks are incapacitating; sometimes when I have a panic attack, I throw myself even more into whatever’s scaring me. I used to tell myself my panic attacks weren’t real because I could still move… but really, I was just even more terrified of what would happen if I stopped.
