had this been anyone else complaining about being at a five star resort, sleeping in 100 count sheets and eating caviar, johnny would have to hold him back from scoffing, deeply rolling his eyes as he walked away from the conversation. but getting to know baby meant that he knew she was different. kind, with a good heart, and no real want for endless amounts of daddy's money. when she first arrived, sure, he thought she was just like the rest of them. he had to admit, it was good to be wrong, just this once.
‘nothin’ wrong with being compared to a good man with a good career,' johnny shrugged then, but he knew what she meant. baby wanted to do things on her own, travel and help people, show the world she was more than the things being handed to her. when he looked up at her, caught her eyes for just a moment, he saw the unmistakable compassion. he really hoped the world never beat that out of her, like it had him. ‘at least your dad isn’t a deadbeat loser,' he finally said, leaning his head back to stare up at the blue skies above them. he was lucky to be here. he'd never made so much money in his life, and he hoped, one day, he could finally use it to go to school. ‘you’re goin' places, baby - daddy's daughter or not, you're goin' places,'
