people are allowed to leave you. people are allowed to break up with you. people are allowed to love you but not want to be with you. people are allowed to not want to talk to you. people are allowed to put their happiness before yours and do what makes them happy even if it does not include you. people are allowed to move on from you. people are allowed to fall in love with someone else. people are allowed to not want you in their life. people are allowed to do whatever they want to better themselves and become the version of themselves they are trying so hard to love. don’t be bitter towards someone who is only trying to be happy.

i know (or am sure) this has been commented before, and i’m sorry for filling up your activity, but since this is something that hits me very personally, i think it’s a good idea to explore both points of view. everything OP said is correct, except honestly I think you’re allowed to be bitter. you can be sad and angry about someone hurting you, even if it was to better themselves. because you’re trying to better yourself, as well, so if someone does something that takes away something from you, it’s not unreasonable to be hurt, and to vent those emotions through anger and sadness. because you are allowed to not want to be left. you are allowed to want to stay with someone. you are allowed to love someone and want to be with them. you’re allowed to want to talk to them. you’re allowed to think of your own happiness. you’re allowed not to move on. you’re allowed to still be in love with them you’re allowed to want them to be in your life. you’re allowed to need and want things and people, and you’re allowed to grieve and, to an extent, hate people who took your needs away from you. but you cannot blame them for wanting what is best for themselves. in the end, we all want is best for ourselves (and of course, others, but our needs are very present and underlying in all of our emotions), and it’s okay to, as OP said, leave. but it’s also okay to want to stay, and to wish the person you loved didn’t leave. it’s natural.

i’m bored of mental health discourse that doesn’t consider capitalism’s effect on people. like sure i take antidepressants to deal with mental health problems, and they change the chemicals in my brain, but the root cause isn’t that the chemicals in my brain were wrong, it’s that we live in an alienating hell system that treats people as commodities
