There will always be acephobes in the world. I can’t help that, however I can help educate those who chose to understand the other side of things. One of Lovely-Leabean’s arguments, or statements rather, as far as I’m aware, is that asexuals are pedophiles. It’s not only blatantly wrong, but also willfully ignorant. I understand nothing I can say will change this person’s mind, however I’d like to use their page as an example to other people that acephobes still exist in real time. This is also the person that (as far as I’m aware) stole from LGBTQ+ artists, because they were so far in the mindset of hurting asexual people, they also hurt their own people.

So one of the things I’d like to address is the anon comment, “humans are meant to have sex, die”. Firstly, that’s inaccurate. And secondly, I'm not quite sure what they’re trying to say. Are they saying that humans are made to have sex and reproduce? Therefore aces are unnatural, or not real because humans were physically made to reproduce? In which case their statements would also apply to lesbians and gay people, or anyone else whose in a same sex relationship (who all also can’t reproduce). Or are they saying that humans are made to have sex, because it’s pleasurable? Everyone has different levels of pleasure when it comes to sex, because not everyone enjoys things the same. Think of it like cake. Some people love cake to the point they’re having it every other day, and some people can go months without it and be fine. If your response to this metaphor is ‘but everyone likes sex! Sex isn’t cake!’ You’re right! Sex isn’t cake, but the point I made seemed to have gone over your head. Continue to reread it until you understand, if possible reread it from different perspectives. Also, I do believe there’s a lot more to life than sex, and dying.

The second thing I will point out is the fact anon said, ‘aces are disgusting and completely gross’. Please explain how, again I’m not sure what the argument is here other than outright bigotry. Most asexuals are literally doing nothing… how is the lack of sex and exchanging bodily fluids with another person disgusting?

The final thing anon said was, “Like imagine being such a fucking incel”. Those of you who don’t know, incels are ‘members of an online subculture who define themselves as unable to find a romantic or sexual partner despite desiring one’. Firstly, I identify as an asexual, and my loving boyfriend supports me and loves me in ways I didn’t expect or thought I’d deserve. So, I’m living proof of an Ace who isn’t an incel. Fun fact, almost all aces aren’t incels. I’m sure there’s one or two out there who are, but the majority of us aren’t. You’re saying that aces (are aros) identify this way because they can’t find a romantic or sexual partner. It’s sort of like saying how lesbians identify as lesbians because they can’t find a man, which we all know to be untrue. It’s the same situation.

And finally the acephobic OP, who says, “Ikr, extremists really got some fucked up ideas”. Which was, perhaps the strangest reply comment I’ve ever seen. It doesn't really match up with what anon said, it’s as if they meant to reply to a different comment but messed up and replied to this one instead. If I fully understood what they were trying to say, I’d be able to discuss this like an adult, however the longer I read this small interaction the less I understand about it in general. So, instead I’ll cover the main point everyone else has already covered. How asexuals are not pedophiles. OP claims to have found ace flags in pedophiles’s blogs and pages, however I’ve yet to see proof. And if there was some, that small minority does not speak for the rest of us! Sort of like how there are pedophilic lesbians online that don’t speak for the entire community. By doing a quick google search I actually found more pedophilic stuff on lesbians than I did asexuals. Which I understand that a very small percent of lesbians are pedophiles, but the fact is pedophiles exist in every community and sexual orientation. If you condemn asexuals for have pedophiles in the community (which I have yet to see in all honesty), you’d also have to do it for every other community and sexualities because they exist everywhere.

If someone would like, I’ve written many papers on asexuality, and have also studied this in depth, so I can give a full length essay on asexuality including why they’re real, and why we need ace allies. Here’s a comic I made about identifying as asexual and aromantic! I made it for an anthology which ended up falling through, so I thought it would be a good idea to post it on Valentine’s Day.

Maybe Klaus stayed in 1968 just so he wouldn’t have to deal with the reality of his brother being dead.

Maybe Klaus would turn around to find Ben gone, and find relief washing over him.

Maybe Klaus thought that he could live through 1968 and the years to come, and maybe prevent Ben’s death.

Dave knowing that Klaus can see the dead, and who sleeps next to Klaus, always calms Klaus down after a night terror.

On the battlefield, he would see spirits of the dead rise from their bodies and stare at themselves. Some would scream, some would claw at their own chests in horror.

But Klaus couldn’t afford to freeze up on the battlefield. Klaus constantly talked to the spirits as he took his next shot. His comrades would call him “Reaper”.

Klaus’ worst fear is that Dave will become just a ghost of what he used to be. And yet, he follows him to the front line.

Because Dave convinces him that there’s nothing worse than dying without living, and if living meant they were together at the front lines, then so be it.

In the easiest way, I’d say sexual attraction feels like “I want to have sex with this person”, while romantic attraction would be “I want to do romance or have a romantic relationship with this person”.

I know mainstream society tells us that sex is required in romance, but that’s not true. You might want romance with someone but be totally disinterested in sex, or the other way around. The difference lies here, what do you feel is a desire for sex, for romance or both? 

For demisexuals the sexual attraction might appear, for aces it doesn’t. That doesn’t mean you can’t be in a romantic relationship, since sex and romance are different things.
