If I say something harmful, and someone calls me out, I will say "holy shit I can't believe I said that, I'm so sorry. I will never say something so harmful again." I will be do anything I can to learn, make myself more empathetic and aware of the issue at hand, and will make a real effort to change for the better. Because that's what it looks when an adult takes responsibility.
