It's been an absolutely horrific couple of months for me health-wise, but I finally have some good news: I can now do laundry at home, and the whole system is 100% solar powered. No more wasting time and money at the laundromat, and zero impact on the electric bill!
I still don't have a washing machine, but honestly I don't want or need one. I wash clothes in a 5 gallon bucket, and since I'm so tiny, my clothes are also tiny and I can fit a lot in there in one session. I soak them in very hot water for 10-15 minutes, agitate with a plunger for 1 minute, drain the water, refill with cold water for first rinse, agitate, and refill one more time for second rinse. I do this right in the bath tub. Excluding the soak, it's like 5 minutes of work, so I feel a washing machine is overkill.
I used to hand-wring and line dry, which is barely viable when you have carpal tunnel syndrome and it rains 80% of the year. Hang drying inside an RV causes mold growth like crazy, especially in this climate.
The spinner changes everything. That thing gets clothes 90% dry in 3 minutes. Then they go straight into my new mini-dryer for another 15-20 minutes. Done.
The laundromat used to eat up a whole day and it costs so much money. This is seriously life changing. I'm so happy right now.
I want to give a HUGE thanks to everyone who has ever donated to me, you made this possible. ❤️ I have been putting a little money away for this for a couple years now and I can't believe it finally happened. $400 just solved a giant ongoing problem for me.
Huge huge huge quality of life improvement!!!
